How the Frost Wolf core loop works
- Freeze with Lunar Assault. The cited leveling guide uses this as the opening attack to freeze enemies.
- Use Shred on frozen targets. The guide’s sequence uses Shred to trigger Ice Fragments, adding cold damage.
- Detonate fragments with Cross Slash. The cited community endgame setup adds Cross Slash as a finisher. This is an endgame-guide choice, not a requirement established for every Frost Wolf variant.
This is the build’s defining idea: set up freezes, create fragments, then exploit them for more cold damage. The guides do not provide an independently measured damage benchmark.

Do not treat the leveling guide as a complete endgame build or combine its partial progression advice with endgame gear without checking the assumptions behind each setup.
Version 0.4-era leveling skill priorities
The leveling guide’s listed support priorities include Rapid Attacks II, Ice Bite II, Deep Freeze, Ancestral Call II, and Spell Cascade. It also names other supports, but support choices are guide-specific and may have changed in later patches. Use the guide as a version 0.4 reference rather than a current-patch prescription.

What the cited endgame Oracle setup assumes
Ascendancy and defense
The community example chooses Oracle and Chaos Inoculation, relying on Energy Shield rather than Life. That changes the defensive and gearing assumptions compared with a life-based character; it is one author’s version 0.4 approach, not a universal Frost Wolf requirement.
Gear named by the guide
The example discusses a high-Energy-Shield chest and boots, Crown of Ice, Essentia Sanguis, and a Spiny Talisman. It also warns that flat regeneration on gear helps avoid degeneration deaths in its Chaos Inoculation setup. These are in-game items and author-specific recommendations; the source does not establish a guaranteed damage or survivability outcome.

Buff and boss sequence
The endgame author describes Lunar Blessing as a cold-damage buff with an automatic nearby-damage effect. For bosses, that guide recommends Savage Fury plus Arctic Howl, describing Arctic Howl as applying critical weakness. These are that author’s choices for the version 0.4 build, not mandatory skills for every variant.

Grinding Gear Games’ official version 0.4.0 notes state: “With the addition of the Druid and other new game mechanics we’ve added passive support for these throughout the Passive Skill Tree.” The notes also say more than 250 new passive skills were added to the Druid side of the tree and list numerous balance changes. A passive-tree or skill setup tied to that release should therefore be read as version-specific.

Choosing a version to follow
- Still progressing toward level 65: follow the leveling guide’s sequence and progression scope rather than importing endgame gear assumptions.
- At level 65 or above and interested in Oracle: use the endgame guide as a distinct build example, paying particular attention to its Chaos Inoculation and Energy Shield assumptions.
- Already playing endgame and troubleshooting survivability: first compare your defenses and regeneration with the assumptions of the specific setup you chose. The available example does not prove that its gear or passive choices are universally best.
- Playing a patch later than 0.4: verify skills, supports, and passive-tree interactions against that patch before copying the setup.
