Add health and defensive skills as enemies demand more staying power; melee is not just a damage route, because blocking, dodging, and positioning matter too. The current Pocket Gamer guide shows an early checkpoint around level 65 and a late-game tree around level 188, alongside targets such as the Carapean set, Daemon Dagger, Enchanted Shield, and Enchanted Sword.
Which skills should you prioritize first?
Pocket Gamer’s guide, updated October 5, 2026 for Hero Tale version 1.4.18, recommends taking Divine Immunity and Onrush early. It describes Divine Immunity as increasing defense by 10%, including stats gained from items; that effect is the guide’s account, not independently verified game data. Onrush, according to the guide, lets attacks charge while you search for the next opponent, potentially reducing downtime between fights. Read Pocket Gamer’s melee build guide.
After those early choices, begin building toward critical-strike rate through Crit Master. The guide’s complete skill paths are presented in screenshots, so a precise node-by-node sequence cannot be established from its text alone. Use its early checkpoint, roughly level 65, as a guidepost rather than treating every point allocation as a universal requirement.
How should you balance damage and survival?
Keep skill points focused on melee rather than dividing them between melee and ranged routes. FinalBoss’s separate endgame guide recommends clustering adjacent melee-critical nodes to build critical rate and multiplier, then investing in health, armor, regeneration, and protection as needed for boss fights. That is editorial guidance from a third-party guide, not an officially verified or benchmark-tested “best” build. Read FinalBoss’s endgame build guide.

Adjust the balance to the fight in front of you: offensive nodes support the melee core, while defensive investment can help when bosses punish mistakes or fights last longer. The guides do not establish numerical damage rankings, so there is no supported basis for claiming that one allocation delivers the highest DPS.
How to play the melee route
Melee puts you close to enemies, so avoid simply trading hits. FinalBoss recommends timing attacks around enemy tells and using block or dodge windows to limit incoming damage. Pocket Gamer reports that the block mechanic was reworked and that melee became more potent afterward, but no official patch notes confirming that change were available in the cited material. Treat it as the guide’s explanation, not a verified developer statement.

What does the late-game build look like?
Pocket Gamer presents a completed skill tree at roughly level 188. That makes the build a progression path rather than a promise that the full setup is available early. Its screenshot-based tree can help orient late-game planning, but the article’s textual detail does not support reproducing every node in order.
Hero Tale is described on Steam as an idle RPG with melee, ranged, and magic weapons, skills to level, and equipment to upgrade. The game’s routes are distinct: the melee recommendations here are not interchangeable with a ranged setup. View Hero Tale on Steam.
