You can build a capable NASCAR 25 sim-racing setup without buying every high-end accessory. Start with a supported platform—PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S or a Windows PC—then verify that your exact wheel works with it. The game supports conventional single-display play, but not VR or triple screens. A cockpit, wheel stand and premium wheel are optional upgrades, not game requirements.
Choose your platform before buying hardware
NASCAR 25 is listed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Windows PC through Steam. The official NASCAR 25 FAQ says Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 are unsupported.
If you already own a supported console, it may be the simplest starting point. Before purchasing a wheelbase, check that its manufacturer supports your exact console version and that the device is supported by the game. The FAQ identifies platforms but does not list guaranteed-compatible wheel models.
On PC, check both the computer’s specifications and the wheel’s connection mode. The FAQ says PC players can map XInput, GameInput or DirectInput devices in Options → Input Mapping, but that does not mean every device will be recognized or behave identically.

What PC does NASCAR 25 require?

Steam specifies a physical Windows PC; Mac emulation and virtual machines are not supported. Check the current Steam listing for NASCAR 25 before buying or upgrading, since published requirements can change.

Why doesn’t my steering wheel work?
The NASCAR 25 FAQ says: “We ship with many wheels working “out of the box”, but due to the sheer number of different devices available on the PC we cannot have support for all of them.” In other words, general wheel support is not a guarantee for every model.
Before you buy, use this compatibility checklist:
- For a console, confirm the wheelbase is licensed and compatible with your exact console, not just another platform in the same product family.
- For PC, look up the exact model in the current NASCAR 25 FAQ and manufacturer support notes; confirm its connection mode and how the game recognizes it.
- Check whether the pedals connect through the wheelbase or separately, and whether the game can map the controls you need.
- If compatibility remains uncertain, consider buying from a seller with a suitable return policy.
The game also accepts a gamepad or keyboard, according to the official FAQ, so a wheel is an upgrade rather than a prerequisite.

Choose a wheel, pedals and mounting surface
A wheel and pedal set is the most direct peripheral upgrade for a sim-racing setup. Select it first for verified platform compatibility, then consider how it will mount and whether its controls suit your needs. The available game information does not establish a particular wheel model, force-feedback level, direct-drive base or pedal set as required or guaranteed compatible with NASCAR 25.

- Stability: whether the frame can handle the wheel’s force without shifting during use.
- Adjustability: whether you can set the seat, wheel and pedals comfortably.

Put the rig together in a sensible order
- Select PS5, Xbox Series X/S or a Windows PC. If you choose PC, compare your system with Steam’s minimum and recommended specifications before making upgrades.
- Verify the exact wheel and pedal set. Check console licensing or, on PC, the game’s device-mapping guidance and the manufacturer’s support notes.
- Choose a mounting solution that fits the hardware and room. A desk may be enough for a simple setup; a stand or cockpit is an optional way to secure the wheel and pedals.
- Use one display. Avoid planning a NASCAR 25 rig around VR or triple screens, which the game does not support.
