There is no established five-hero team proven best for every mode: use the game’s faction bonus and formation, and adjust for the fight you are trying to win.
What makes a strong team in Legend of Kingdoms?
A high tier rating can help you decide whom to invest in, but it does not assemble a team by itself. Your available copies and upgrade levels, the lineup’s role coverage, the faction bonus shown before battle and the mode you are playing all matter. The official Google Play listing calls out faction bonuses and formation, and identifies arena and cooperative team play; it does not name a best lineup.
- Damage: Heroes who can defeat enemies efficiently.
- Frontline: At least one hero able to take pressure and help keep attention off more vulnerable damage dealers.
- Support: Healing, shields or control can help the rest of the team stay effective.
Compare candidate lineups by those roles, the investment you have in each hero, the in-game faction bonus, and how the team performs in the specific mode. These are practical checks, not a statistical scoring system or a guarantee of victory.
Which heroes should you build around?
Pocket Gamer’s tier list, updated September 2, 2026 for version 1.0.17, places Demon Lu Bu (Feng Xian), Demon Diao Chan (Bi Yue) and Saint Da Qiao (Da Qiao) among its S+ heroes. It describes Lu Bu as a frontline damage dealer, Diao Chan as a high-DPS assassin with self-recovery and bleed, and Da Qiao as a healing and crowd-control support. These are Pocket Gamer’s editorial assessments, not official rankings or mode-specific test results. The list does not report win rates or a reproducible test method. For an early-to-mid-game starting point, Pocket Gamer’s January 13, 2025 guide builds around Ma Chao (Meng Qi). That recommendation is useful as a team-building example, but it predates the 2026 tier list and should not be treated as a current balance ranking. Its team and progression guide gives two five-hero examples:
Flexible early-to-mid-game team
Ma Chao (Meng Qi), Zhao Yun (Zi Long), Lu Lingqi (Ling Qi), Sun Luyu (Little Tiger), and Demon Diao Chan (Bi Yue). If you do not have Demon Diao Chan, the guide recommends another good damage dealer; it also names Demon Cao Cao as an alternative. If Saint Da Qiao is available, it suggests swapping her in for Sun Luyu.

Alternative team with more named frontline options
Ma Chao (Meng Qi), Demon Dong Zhuo (Zhong Ying), Demon Lu Bu (Feng Xian), Saint Da Qiao (Da Qiao), and Demon Diao Chan (Bi Yue). Treat this as an example, not a roster rule: use it only if those heroes are available and your investments and mode make the roles fit.
If you are missing a featured hero
Do not leave a slot empty or copy a lineup at the expense of upgrades. Replace the unavailable hero with one you have built who fills the same need. Without Demon Diao Chan, the 2025 guide specifically suggests another damage dealer, including Demon Cao Cao as an alternative. Sun Luyu can provide support: the 2026 tier list places her in S tier and describes shields, Fury gain and healing. Select among your actual options, then check whether the resulting lineup still has damage, support and a frontline presence.

Should you prioritize your best heroes or a faction bonus?
Check the faction bonus before the battle, as the official listing recommends, but do not sacrifice a functional lineup just to chase a bonus. Start with heroes you can field and have invested in; then see whether a role-preserving substitution activates a useful bonus. The available sources do not establish that a particular bonus outweighs hero investment in every situation, so compare the lineup in the mode you are playing.
How should you spend upgrades and gear?
Concentrate upgrades on a small core
The January 2025 guide advises focusing early resources on a couple of useful heroes and upgrading one before moving to the next, rather than spreading limited materials across the whole roster. It identifies Ma Chao as its first hero to max in that guide’s context. Treat that as the guide’s early-game recommendation, not a universal priority for every account or a current ranking. Avoid spending level-up resources on fodder heroes used to advance your main heroes.

Equip for the heroes you rely on
Give your strongest heroes the best available gear, but inspect each item’s stats rather than trusting auto-equip alone. The same guide lists rarity from green, blue, purple, gold, red and pink through rainbow, calling rainbow the best in its article. This is dated guidance, not a current exhaustive equipment catalogue; item availability and balance may change.

- Check the pre-fight faction bonus and formation.
- Review each hero’s skills and look for ways their effects complement one another.
- Swap a hero if the team lacks support, damage or a frontline role.
- Upgrade your core heroes and improve their available gear.
- Progress story milestones and complete quests or events for further progression.
- In difficult battles, try manual skill timing instead of relying entirely on automatic play.
These steps can help diagnose a weak lineup, but they do not establish a universally optimal composition. The game listing and the cited guides provide no mode-by-mode head-to-head results for the example teams.
