How to Buy League of Legends RP: Client Store and Card Redemption

Buy Riot Points (RP) through the League of Legends client store, or receive them as a gift from a friend. In the client, open the store, choose the RP purchase option, select a package available for your account’s region, and complete checkout with one of the payment methods shown there. If prepaid RP cards are sold in your region, you can redeem one in the League client instead.

Buy RP directly in the League of Legends client

Open the League of Legends client and sign in to the account you want to credit.
Open the in-client store and select the option to purchase RP.
Choose an available RP package and a payment method shown for your region.
Review the purchase details, then complete checkout.

Riot’s support guidance identifies the in-game store as a direct way to obtain RP, but it does not establish a universal list of payment methods, package sizes, or prices. Those details can vary by region and may change, so use the options displayed in your client. Riot Games Player Support’s reward-system guidance also lists receiving RP as a gift from a friend.

Use a prepaid RP card where available

Riot says prepaid and gift cards for its games may be sold in physical shops or online retailers. Availability varies; check the card’s region and product description before buying, and use a seller you trust. Riot does not support codes acquired outside Riot or official partner promotions, so avoid treating an unverified third-party listing as legitimate. Riot’s prepaid gift card guidance explains that cash codes are region-locked and intended for one game in one use.

Physical cards must be activated by the retailer at purchase. Keep the card and receipt in case activation or redemption fails.

Redeem the code in the client

Sign in to the League of Legends account that should receive the RP.
Open the store and go to its account area, then choose code redemption.
Enter the code and select League of Legends as the game.
Review the selected game and account details, then confirm.

Riot’s guide says prepaid cards are redeemed in the relevant game client, not on the website. Because a cash code is used once and cannot be split across games or accounts, check the selected game and account before confirming. Follow the current in-client prompts if their labels differ from these general steps.

Receive RP as a gift

Riot lists a gift from a friend as another way to obtain RP. Use the League client’s gifting interface and follow its current prompts. The available support guidance does not specify current gifting eligibility, account restrictions, or a universal gifting procedure, so check the interface and current Riot support information for your account and region.

What can vary by region

Payment choices and prepaid-card availability depend on geography. For example, Riot’s Mexico billing guidance lists local Visa and Mastercard payments and says a payment may take up to two business days to appear in the account. That timing and those card options apply to the Mexico example, not to every region. Riot’s Mexico billing article advises players whose payment is delayed beyond that period to contact Player Support with purchase information and proof of payment.

Troubleshoot a prepaid code or missing RP

The code says it is not activated

Riot says the retailer must activate a prepaid RP card at the place of purchase. Return to that retailer and ask them to activate it; keep your card and receipt. See Riot’s instructions for a code that appears not to be activated.

The code is rejected or you bought it from an unofficial source

Check that the card is valid for your region and that you selected League of Legends during redemption. Riot says it does not support codes acquired outside Riot or official partner promotions; contact the seller if a code from another source does not work. The Riot Codes FAQ distinguishes Riot codes from prepaid gift cards, which are redeemed through the relevant game client.

A direct payment has not appeared

Check the purchase status and your account’s transaction details in the client. Processing times depend on the payment route and region. For a Mexico local-card payment, Riot’s stated window is up to two business days; if it remains missing after that, contact Player Support and provide purchase information and proof of payment.
