Keep your FF7R demo save on the console or PC where you’ll start the full game. When you launch the full game for the first time on a device with that save, it should offer to carry it over. Square Enix specifically confirms that a PlayStation 4 demo save can transfer to the PlayStation 5 full game.
How to transfer your FF7R demo save
- Keep the demo save available. Leave it on the console or PC where you intend to launch the full game.
- Start the full game on that device. The carryover prompt appears when the full game is launched for the first time on a device holding the demo save. If you still need the game, make sure you choose the edition and platform that match your setup: FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE.
- Accept the carryover prompt. Follow the on-screen instructions to import the demo progress.
If the carryover prompt does not appear
Check whether you have already created save data in the full game. Square Enix says the prompt will not appear when full-game save data exists. Delete that full-game save data before trying the transfer again; take care not to delete the demo save you want to keep.
Which demo-to-game transfer is confirmed?
Square Enix Support explicitly says a PlayStation 4 demo save can be carried into the PlayStation 5 full game. That is different from transferring a save between the PS4 and PS5 demos: Square Enix says a PS4 demo save cannot be carried between those demo versions. The support answer does not establish transfer rules for every newer platform or demo/full-game combination. If your setup differs from PS4 demo to PS5 full game, check Square Enix’s platform-specific support instructions before relying on a transfer.
