Yes—often. A Meta Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S, or similar headset can usually appear on a TV connected to a Fire TV Stick, but not through a guaranteed, native Quest-to-Firestick connection. The most practical workaround is to install a receiver app such as AirScreen on the Firestick, then select that receiver from the Quest’s Cast menu.
The headset remains the real display and controller. The television is a delayed spectator view, so this setup is useful for demonstrations and watching someone play—not as a low-latency replacement for the headset.
What works—and what does not
“Oculus Quest” is the former product name; current headsets and software use Meta Quest. Quest casting is designed around compatible Chromecast devices, a web browser, or the Meta Horizon mobile app. A Fire TV Stick is not automatically a Chromecast receiver.
Amazon’s built-in Enable Display Mirroring feature is intended for compatible Miracast senders, and Amazon notes that the option may be unavailable on unsupported Fire TV hardware: Amazon’s Fire TV mirroring guidance. Quest casting should not be described as ordinary Miracast mirroring.

A receiver app bridges that protocol gap. AirScreen says it supports Google Cast, Miracast, AirPlay, DLNA and Oculus devices: AirScreen. This is a third-party workaround, not Meta-certified native Firestick support, and results vary by headset software, Fire TV model, app version and network.
| Setup | Expected result | Reliability outlook |
|---|---|---|
| Quest → Firestick with AirScreen | Often works through a receiver app | Variable |
| Quest → Chromecast-compatible receiver | Matches Meta’s documented casting model more closely | Generally preferable |
| Quest → Meta Horizon app → phone mirroring | Indirect route to the TV | Variable; adds another wireless hop |
| Quest → computer browser → HDMI TV | Computer receives the cast and sends its display to the TV | Often dependable |
| Quest → Firestick built-in Miracast only | Not a guaranteed Quest path | Low or uncertain |
What you need
- A Meta Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S or another Quest-family headset with the standard Cast function
- An Amazon Fire TV Stick or compatible Fire TV device, its power supply and a TV with an available HDMI port
- A stable local Wi-Fi network
- AirScreen or another compatible receiver app installed on the Firestick
- A Meta account configured on the headset
Use a 5 GHz network when available, keep both devices near the router and avoid guest Wi-Fi. Power the Firestick from its wall adapter rather than an underpowered television USB port. AirScreen runs on the receiving device; the Quest normally does not need the AirScreen app.
Method 1: Cast directly to the Firestick with AirScreen
1. Install and open AirScreen
- Connect the Firestick to the TV, select the correct HDMI input and finish Fire TV setup.
- Open Find, Search or the Appstore search field; the label depends on Fire OS.
- Search for AirScreen and install the official Amazon Appstore listing.
- Launch AirScreen and leave it visible on the TV. Note the receiver name shown on screen; it may be an AirScreen or generated name rather than “Firestick.”
AirScreen’s official site identifies Amazon Appstore distribution and Oculus-device support: airscreen.app.
2. Put both devices on the same local network
- Connect the Quest and Firestick to exactly the same Wi-Fi network name.
- Do not use a guest network that isolates devices.
- Disable VPNs during setup, and avoid a phone hotspot unless it permits device-to-device discovery.
- If separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz names exist, put both devices on the same band initially.
3. Start the cast from the headset
- Put on the headset and open the Universal Menu or Quick Settings.
- Select Cast. Menu location and wording can change with Meta Quest software updates.
- Choose the receiver name displayed by AirScreen.
- Approve any connection prompt on the headset or TV.
- Confirm that the casting indicator or AirScreen window shows the Quest view.
A third-party setup guide describes the same AirScreen workflow: FlashGroup XR setup guide.

If the Firestick is missing from the Cast list
Work through these checks in order:
- Confirm AirScreen is open and visible on the TV.
- Verify that the Quest and Firestick use the same Wi-Fi network name, not merely the same internet account.
- Leave any guest network and disable VPNs on the headset, phone, router and Firestick.
- Restart AirScreen.
- Restart the Quest.
- Restart the Firestick.
- Reboot the router.
- Move the headset and Firestick closer to the router.
- Check Fire OS permissions for background services, especially on newer Fire OS versions.
- Install available updates for the headset, Firestick and AirScreen.
- Try another receiver app, a Chromecast-compatible device or the computer-browser method.
AirScreen’s support center covers failed connections, Fire OS 8 background-service setup, black screens, lag, audio delay and Miracast issues: AirScreen support.
When the connection starts but hangs
A stalled handshake can result from access-point isolation, firewall rules, a stale session, an outdated receiver, or heavy wireless congestion. Stop casting, fully close or restart AirScreen, restart both devices, and try again on a normal home network. School, hotel, office and guest networks often block the discovery traffic required here. A 5 GHz network or a different receiver can also isolate the problem.
Black screen, missing audio and poor performance
Black screen
Test the Quest home environment and another game. Protected video or an individual app may block mirroring; an outdated receiver or unsupported video mode can also cause a blank image. Update AirScreen, restart it, and disable receiver features that alter or record the stream. If only one app fails, treat it as an app or content restriction rather than proof that the Firestick is incompatible.

Video works but audio does not
- Raise the TV and Firestick volume.
- Check whether the Quest is still routing sound to its own speakers.
- Stop and restart the cast.
- Test another game and update AirScreen.
- Review AirScreen audio-output or audio-delay settings.
Audio may remain in the headset, arrive late, or omit microphone and party-chat audio. Do not assume every Quest title sends all headset sound to the TV.
Lag and stuttering
- Use 5 GHz Wi-Fi and reduce traffic from other devices.
- Move the router closer and avoid mesh-node roaming during the session.
- Use Ethernet for the Firestick if the model and adapter support it.
- Reboot the router and reduce simultaneous streams.
- Consider a newer Fire TV device if the existing model is old or underpowered.
Amazon lists several Fire TV generations and hardware tiers, so performance cannot be generalized across every Firestick: Fire TV device specifications.
What to expect from the TV image
- Delay: The TV feed is delayed and unsuitable as the primary display for fast-reaction play.
- Picture: Resolution may be reduced, with cropping, black bars or compression artifacts.
- Audio: TV sound, headset sound, delayed sound and missing microphone audio are all possible.
- Connectivity: Discovery and streaming rely mainly on local-network communication, while initial pairing, account state or Meta services may still need internet access.
- Protected content: DRM-restricted videos or apps can produce a black screen or block mirroring.
More reliable alternatives
Chromecast-compatible receiver
This is the cleaner direct-TV route when the Quest detects it reliably because it aligns more closely with Meta’s casting model and avoids protocol conversion. It requires another device, and availability varies by country and date. Meta’s community guidance describes Chromecast compatibility as the direct-TV requirement and suggests the Meta Quest app for unsupported displays: Meta community guidance.
Meta Horizon mobile app
- Install and sign in to the Meta Horizon app on a compatible phone.
- Pair the phone with the Quest.
- Start casting from the headset to the app.
- Mirror the phone to the television or Fire TV using a method supported by that phone and TV.
This adds a second wireless hop and can expose phone notifications or controls. iPhone-to-Firestick mirroring is not equivalent to Android Miracast mirroring; Amazon’s forum guidance lists iOS and macOS limitations for ordinary Fire TV mirroring: Amazon forum discussion.

Computer browser plus HDMI
- Open Meta’s official Quest casting destination in a supported desktop browser: Meta Quest casting help.
- Start casting from the headset to the browser.
- Connect the computer to the TV with HDMI or another supported display connection.
This avoids Firestick receiver compatibility and is often the strongest choice for classroom demonstrations, recording and presentations, at the cost of extra equipment and possible browser latency.
Another Fire TV receiver app
AirReceiver and similar apps may work as alternatives, but current compatibility, pricing and Appstore availability should be checked in the live regional listing. No receiver app is universally better without testing your particular headset, Fire TV device and network.

If you already own a Firestick, try AirScreen first and follow the network checks above. If you are buying hardware specifically for Quest casting, a Chromecast-compatible receiver is the more direct technical fit. For dependable demonstrations or recording, cast to a computer and connect that computer to the TV by HDMI. Do not buy a Firestick on the assumption that it has native Quest support.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a Quest 2 or Quest 3 cast to a Firestick?
Usually, yes, by installing a receiver such as AirScreen on the Firestick. It is a third-party workaround, not guaranteed native support.

Can I cast without AirScreen?
You can try another receiver app, a Chromecast-compatible device, the Meta Horizon app or a computer browser. Firestick’s built-in Miracast option alone is not a guaranteed Quest route.
Can I play using only the TV?
No. The headset remains the display and controller interface; the TV receives a delayed spectator view.
Does casting include multiplayer or party-chat audio?
Not reliably. Game audio may work while microphone or party-chat audio remains in the headset or is suppressed.
