To hatch eggs faster in a normal Palworld world, change Time (h) to incubate Massive Egg in the world’s custom settings before you load the save. Lower numbers shorten every incubation, and 0 makes eggs hatch instantly. On a dedicated server, edit PalEggDefaultHatchingTime in the active PalWorldSettings.ini, then restart the server. Egg temperature is a separate speed modifier, so heating or cooling an incubator can make a timer move faster without changing the world setting.

Which setting changes egg hatch speed?
Palworld uses one main incubation-time setting rather than a separate slider for each egg. In a local or single-player world, the setting is labeled Time (h) to incubate Massive Egg. Current in-game terminology may call the same largest size a Huge Egg. The value is measured in hours for that largest egg, and the documented range is 0 to 240.

Reducing the number reduces incubation time. Setting it to 0 removes the timer and makes eggs hatch immediately. Smaller eggs already require less time than the largest size, so the setting establishes the maximum and the other egg sizes scale down from it.
| Where you play | What to change | Where to change it | What applies the change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single-player or locally hosted world | Time (h) to incubate Massive Egg (also associated with Huge Eggs) | World’s custom settings screen | Set the value before loading the save |
| Dedicated server | PalEggDefaultHatchingTime |
Active PalWorldSettings.ini in the server configuration folder |
Save the file and restart or reload the server |
| Any mode | Incubator temperature | In-game heat or cooling source near the incubator | Improves the current egg’s speed; it does not replace the timer setting |
Change the setting in a single-player or local world
This is the simplest method when you own the save and launch the world yourself. The setting must be changed from the world configuration screen rather than from inside an already loaded session.

Step 1: Open the world list
- Start Palworld and choose the option that displays your existing worlds or saves.
- Select the world whose egg timers you want to change, but do not enter it yet.
- Open that world’s Change World Settings or equivalent custom-settings option. The exact button wording can vary slightly by platform and game version.
Step 2: Find the incubation-time control
- In the custom settings, locate Time (h) to incubate Massive Egg.
- If your interface uses newer naming, look for the same control referring to a Huge Egg. It is the setting for the largest egg size, not a separate “massive” item you must obtain.
- Confirm that you are editing incubation time, not the day/night cycle, Pal spawn rate, or another world-speed multiplier. Those controls do not set how long an egg remains in an incubator.
Step 3: Choose a value
Enter a value from 0 through 240. The number represents hours for a Huge/Massive Egg. Lower values produce shorter timers:
- 0: eggs hatch instantly.
- A small positive value: preserves a brief progression timer while making breeding and collection much faster.
- A larger value: keeps a longer progression loop for players who want incubation to remain a meaningful wait.
- 240: the upper end of the documented setting range for the largest egg.
The game does not require you to calculate a separate number for each egg size. Once the largest-egg value is set, smaller eggs use their shorter scaled times automatically.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsStep 4: Save and load the world
- Confirm or save the custom settings.
- Load the world after saving the change. Making the adjustment before loading avoids confusion about whether the current session has already read the previous value.
- Place an egg in an incubator and check the displayed timer. If the countdown still seems slower than expected, inspect the incubator’s temperature as described below.
Changing the value controls the world’s incubation-time rule. It does not itself heat an incubator, alter egg comfort, or change the length of a Palworld day.
Change egg speed on a dedicated server
Dedicated servers do not use the single-player settings screen. The server reads its active configuration file, and the relevant parameter is PalEggDefaultHatchingTime. The official Palworld Server Guide, version 1.0.4, identifies this parameter as the number of hours required to hatch a Huge Egg.

Do not edit the default template
Palworld includes DefaultPalWorldSettings.ini as a default settings template. Editing that file alone does not change the running dedicated server. The official guide specifically instructs administrators to copy the default settings into the active file, edit the active file, and use that active file for the server.

If the active file does not contain the full settings line, follow the server guide’s template-copy procedure first. Keep a backup of the working file before making a change; a malformed line can prevent the server from loading its settings correctly.
Edit PalEggDefaultHatchingTime
- Stop the dedicated server or make sure no configuration-writing process will overwrite the file while you edit it.
- Open the active
PalWorldSettings.iniin a plain-text editor. - Find the existing
PalEggDefaultHatchingTimeentry in the settings line. - Replace its numeric value with the number of hours you want for a Huge Egg. Use
0for instant hatching, or a positive value to retain a timer. - Preserve the surrounding syntax, commas, quotation marks, and other options on the line. Change only the incubation-time value unless you intentionally mean to change another setting.
- Save the file as
PalWorldSettings.ini, retaining the file’s normal encoding and extension.
The parameter is expressed in hours for the largest egg. Smaller eggs hatch in less time because their durations scale down from the Huge-Egg maximum.

Restart the server
Restart or otherwise reload the dedicated server after saving. A server that was already running may continue using the old value until it reads the file again. Have players reconnect only after the restart has completed, then place a test egg in an incubator and verify the displayed time.
Administrators who use a hosting control panel should still confirm which physical file the panel writes and which file the server starts with. A panel-generated configuration, an incorrectly selected server instance, or an edit to the default template can make a correct-looking change appear ineffective.

How Palworld calculates the timer
The largest egg sets the reference time
The incubation setting is anchored to the largest egg category. The world control calls it a Massive Egg in some interfaces, while server documentation refers to a Huge Egg. These labels describe the same maximum-time reference for this purpose.
A smaller egg does not use the full number you entered. Its incubation duration is shorter, scaled from the largest-egg value. Therefore, lowering the setting affects every egg, but the absolute time saved will differ by egg size.
Temperature is a separate modifier
Every incubator also reports an egg-temperature condition. An unsuitable temperature slows incubation, even when the world or server timer is already set to a low value. A campfire, heater, or cooler can improve that condition, depending on whether the egg needs warmth or cooling.
The Pal Eggs reference records these comfort effects:
Best Value
- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.
- Dual C-Clamp Hold - Worried your dual monitors might wobble or slip? Our upgraded base uses a larger platform plus a dual C-clamp structure to lock the dual monitor arm firmly to your desk. Each arm safely keeps your screens steady while you type, click and game—no shaking, no sliding, just a clean and secure setup you can trust every day. It also provides Grommet Mounting installation choice, both options ensure stable and secure fixation for your 0.59" - 3.54" desk.
- Full-Motion Adjustment For Comfortable View - Pull the screen closer when you’re deep in a spreadsheet, push it back to watch videos, or rotate to portrait for coding — moving everything smoothly with just one hand. The monitor stand offers +85°/-50° tilt, ±90° swivel and 360° rotation. Raise your monitor up to 15.75″ to support a healthy sitting posture. Whether you’re working from home, gaming through the night, or switching between video calls and documents, getting the screens to your natural line of sight helps relieve neck, shoulder and back strain so you can stay focused longer with less fatigue.
- Keep Your Desk Organized: By lifting both screens off the desktop, this dual monitor stand opens up valuable space for your keyboard, notebook, docking station or a simple, clutter-free work area. Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
- “Seems just a little cold/hot”: +50% incubation speed.
- “Seems very comfortable”: +100% incubation speed.
These percentages describe the comfort bonus from temperature. They are not replacements for the world/server timer and do not change the configured number of hours. A well-heated or cooled incubator can make a configured timer finish sooner than an incubator left in an unsuitable condition.
Use both controls when you want the shortest practical wait
Timer reduction and temperature optimization solve different problems. The world setting or server parameter establishes the base incubation duration; the incubator’s temperature condition modifies how quickly that egg progresses. If you set a very low timer but leave the egg “a little cold/hot,” you may still see slower progress than expected. Correct the temperature with the appropriate nearby source and check the comfort message again.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Choosing between instant, fast, and progression-focused hatching
There is no universally correct value. Choose according to how you want breeding, exploration, and resource gathering to feel.
| Goal | Setting approach | Temperature approach | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Remove waiting entirely | Set the world control or PalEggDefaultHatchingTime to 0 |
Still keep the incubator in a suitable condition for predictable behavior | Eggs hatch immediately, so incubation no longer gates progression |
| Keep a short breeding loop | Use a small positive number within the 0–240 range | Make the incubator comfortable with the correct heater or cooler | Breeding remains timed but requires less real-world waiting |
| Preserve a longer progression loop | Keep a higher value, up to the documented maximum of 240 | Optimize temperature only when you want the normal comfort bonus | Eggs remain a meaningful time investment |
| Improve an existing setup without changing the global rule | Leave the world/server value unchanged | Fix “cold/hot” or “very comfortable” conditions around the incubator | Only temperature-related speed changes; the base timer remains intact |
On a shared server, discuss the choice with the other players before setting instant hatching. The value affects the server’s egg economy for everyone, not just the administrator’s character.
Quick Recap
Troubleshooting: the timer did not change
The server still uses the old duration
- Recheck that you edited
Pal/Saved/Config/<platform>Server/PalWorldSettings.ini, notDefaultPalWorldSettings.ini. - Confirm that the server instance you restarted is the same instance whose folder you edited.
- Stop and restart the server after saving; a live process may not reread the file automatically.
- Open the active file again and verify that the new
PalEggDefaultHatchingTimevalue was saved and was not replaced by a control panel or startup script.
The single-player option appears to do nothing
- Change the setting from the world’s custom-settings screen before loading the save.
- Make sure you changed Time (h) to incubate Massive Egg, or the corresponding Huge-Egg label, rather than day/night speed.
- Save the world settings, leave the menu, and load the world again before testing.
The timer is shorter but still not as short as expected
- Read the egg’s temperature message. “Seems just a little cold/hot” indicates a +50% incubation-speed comfort effect, while “Seems very comfortable” indicates +100%.
- Place the appropriate campfire, heater, or cooler so the incubator reaches the condition the egg needs.
- Remember that the configured number is the reference for a Huge/Massive Egg; smaller eggs use scaled durations, so different eggs will not display identical timers.
The server will not start after editing
- Restore the backup of
PalWorldSettings.inito confirm that the edit, rather than another change, caused the failure. - Compare the edited line with the copied default template and preserve its commas, parentheses, quotes, and option names.
- Change only the numeric value associated with
PalEggDefaultHatchingTime; do not remove neighboring options.
What changes, and what does not
- Changes: the base incubation duration for all eggs in that world or dedicated server, with smaller eggs remaining faster than the largest size.
- Does not change: the day/night cycle, Pal spawn settings, egg temperature, or the identity of the egg.
- Temperature remains independent: a heater, cooler, or campfire changes the incubator’s comfort condition rather than rewriting the configured hour value.
- Scope matters: a local-world change applies to that save; a dedicated-server parameter applies to players using that server after it reloads the configuration.
Quick checklist
- For a local world, open custom world settings before loading the save.
- Set Time (h) to incubate Massive Egg to a value from 0 to 240; use 0 for instant hatching.
- For a dedicated server, edit the active
PalWorldSettings.iniunderPal/Saved/Config/<platform>Server/. - Change
PalEggDefaultHatchingTime, which is measured in hours for a Huge Egg. - Do not rely on edits to
DefaultPalWorldSettings.ini; that file is a template and does not by itself alter the running server. - Save the file and restart or reload the dedicated server.
- Check the incubator’s temperature and use a campfire, heater, or cooler when the egg reports that it is cold or hot.
