Roblox does not provide a documented in-game control for choosing a numeric screen resolution. On a desktop, change the display resolution in your device’s display settings; to change Roblox’s visual detail or improve graphics performance, use the in-experience Graphics Quality setting instead.
Display resolution and Roblox graphics quality are different settings
Display resolution is the pixel size your display uses. Change it through your computer’s display settings, and choose a resolution supported by your monitor. Roblox’s player-facing graphics slider does not set this value. Roblox’s Graphics Quality instructions describe a control for visual quality, not a numeric resolution selector.
Graphics quality affects the visual detail Roblox renders and lets you trade visual quality for performance. Full-screen mode changes whether the desktop client fills the screen; Roblox documents it as a display mode, not as a resolution setting. Its Creator documentation says desktop clients can toggle full-screen, while mobile and console play is always full-screen.

Change Roblox graphics quality
- Join an experience. Click the Roblox logo or menu button in the upper-left, or press Esc on a keyboard.
- Select Settings.
- Under Graphics Mode, choose Automatic to let the device control graphics quality, or choose Manual to control it yourself.
- If you selected Manual, move the Graphics Quality slider right for better visuals or left for better performance.
- Resume the experience, or press Esc again to close the menu.
These steps follow Roblox’s official Graphics Quality instructions. Menu details can change as Roblox updates its client.

Change the screen resolution on a desktop
Open your computer’s display settings and select a resolution supported by the connected display. The exact menu labels vary by operating system and version, so use your device’s current display-settings interface rather than looking for a resolution control in Roblox. If changing the display setting makes the picture unusable, restore a supported resolution through the operating system’s display settings.
Make Roblox fit the screen
If the issue is that Roblox appears in a window rather than filling your desktop, use the desktop client’s full-screen toggle. That changes the display mode, not the screen’s pixel dimensions. Roblox says mobile and console experiences are full-screen by default, so desktop full-screen instructions do not apply to those platforms.

Reduce choppiness or troubleshoot a distorted image
If graphics performance is choppy
Set Graphics Mode to Manual and move the Graphics Quality slider left. This may help when the slowdown is caused by graphics load, but it will not fix every kind of lag. Roblox distinguishes graphics lag from network lag; if lowering graphics quality does not help, close other resource-intensive apps and follow Roblox’s connection and lag troubleshooting guidance.
If the image is distorted or Roblox shows a graphics error
A resolution change may not address a graphics compatibility problem. Roblox’s computer graphics troubleshooting guidance covers checking DirectX feature-level support, updating the graphics driver, checking compatibility mode, and resetting Roblox Studio settings when Studio can start without crashing. Follow the current instructions for your device.
