Change the interval in Server Manager if the control is available; otherwise edit the dedicated server’s GameUserSettings.ini. The setting is FG.AutosaveInterval, stored in seconds in the INI file: 900.000000 creates a 15-minute interval. Stop the server before editing, save a backup of the file, then restart the server.
Godlike.Host offers hosted Satisfactory servers with its own game panel, SFTP access and free DDoS protection, if you would rather not host it yourself.
What the autosave setting controls
Satisfactory’s dedicated server exposes an Autosave Interval gameplay setting. The official settings reference lists a range of 0 to 120 minutes and a default of 5 minutes. Setting the interval to 0 disables automatic saving. The server keeps three autosave slots; changing the interval does not increase that fixed number.

- Server Manager: use the current Autosave Interval control when your dedicated-server build exposes it.
- Configuration file: edit
GameUserSettings.iniin the running server’s platform-specific configuration directory.
The two interfaces use different units. Server Manager presents minutes, while the INI value FG.AutosaveInterval is expressed in seconds. Multiply the desired number of minutes by 60 before writing the file.
Change the interval in Server Manager
This is the least error-prone method because the interface handles the minutes-to-seconds conversion for you. Labels can vary slightly between game releases, but look for the dedicated server’s gameplay or settings page and the field named Autosave Interval.

- [Games need exclusions and runtimes, not malware]Some customers ask why our retro game drives can trigger Windows Security warnings. Many game files are older DLLs that Windows Defender sometimes flags as threats. They are not viruses or malware—just old or uncommon code causing false positives. We temporarily add them to the exclusion list so they aren't blocked, then re-enable Security to keep your PC protected. Many classic games also need legacy VC++ and DirectX runtimes, which modern Windows doesn't include by default. Installing them ensures compatibility and smooth play. Your safety matters to us—these are safe, standard steps for retro games.

- Open the Server Manager for the dedicated server, not the settings for a local client game.
- Stop the server cleanly if the manager requires a stopped state before changing gameplay settings.
- Open the gameplay or server-settings section and locate Autosave Interval.
- Enter a value from 0 through 120 minutes. Use 0 only when you intentionally want to disable automatic saves.
- Apply or save the settings.
- Start or restart the dedicated server so the new setting is loaded.
- Reopen the setting after the restart, or watch for the next scheduled save, to confirm that the value persisted.
If the control is missing, read-only, or reverts after a restart, use the INI procedure below. A hosting panel may expose a Server Manager-like control without exposing the underlying file; in that case the panel’s current setting is the authoritative interface for that installation.
Edit GameUserSettings.ini directly
Direct editing is useful for self-hosted servers and managed panels that provide file access. Always change the file belonging to the dedicated server process that runs your world. A client-side configuration directory can contain a similarly named file but will not control the server.

Safe editing sequence
- Stop the dedicated server cleanly. Do not edit while the process is running; a shutdown or a later save can overwrite your change.
- Back up the file. Copy
GameUserSettings.inito a separate location before changing it. Keep the original until the new interval has been confirmed. - Open the server file. Use the Windows or Linux path described in the next section.
- Find or create the section
[/Script/FactoryGame.FGGameUserSettings]. - Add or update the autosave entry so it reads, for example,
mFloatValues=(("FG.AutosaveInterval", 900.000000))with the section header above it. Preserve the parentheses and quotation marks. - Replace the number of seconds with your desired interval. Do not enter minutes in this INI field.
- Save the file as plain text without changing its filename or extension.
- Start or restart the server. The dedicated server reads the setting during startup.
- Verify the result in Server Manager, if available, or by observing the next autosave.
15-minute example
To autosave every 15 minutes, use:
[/Script/FactoryGame.FGGameUserSettings]
mFloatValues=(("FG.AutosaveInterval", 900.000000))
The value 900 is seconds, so 900 ÷ 60 = 15 minutes. The decimal formatting shown in the example is accepted by the configuration format; keep the full numeric value to make the setting easy to recognize.

For any other value, multiply minutes by 60. For example, 10 minutes becomes 600.000000. Values outside the 0–120 minute range are not offered by the settings control, so use a value within that range unless you have a version-specific reason to do otherwise.

On a self-hosted installation, the same FactoryGame/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/ directory is located beneath the server installation directory. The exact parent folder depends on where you installed the dedicated server.

Linux dedicated servers
Linux installations use the corresponding LinuxServer directory beneath the server installation:
FactoryGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/GameUserSettings.ini
The important distinction is the platform directory used by the dedicated server. Do not edit a client path such as WindowsNoEditor; that belongs to a client installation and will not change the dedicated server’s autosave schedule.
If several installations exist
- Check which installation directory the service, startup script, or hosting panel actually launches.
- Check the file’s modification time after a controlled server shutdown and startup; the active installation is the one whose configuration changes with the running service.
- If the server regenerates the file, stop it, make the edit, and start it again rather than editing a copy in a download or backup directory.
How to confirm the new interval
The most reliable confirmation is to inspect the setting after the restart. If Server Manager displays the value, it should show the equivalent number of minutes. When no UI is available, leave the server running long enough to pass one full interval and observe the server’s normal autosave activity.
- A 15-minute setting should be checked after at least 15 minutes of uninterrupted runtime.
- Do not treat a manual save or a shutdown save as proof that the scheduled interval is correct; those events are different from an automatic interval save.
- If the file contains multiple autosave entries, keep one current
FG.AutosaveIntervalvalue in the intendedFGGameUserSettingssection and remove stale duplicates before restarting.
Why the setting resets, and how to fix it
The server was still running during the edit
A live process can write its in-memory settings back to disk. Stop the server, restore your backup if necessary, apply the change again, and then start the server. Make the edit before startup rather than while the world is active.

The wrong configuration directory was edited
This is common when both a client and a dedicated server are installed on the same machine. Confirm that the path contains WindowsServer or LinuxServer, as appropriate, under the server installation’s FactoryGame/Saved/Config/ directory. A WindowsNoEditor file does not control a dedicated server.
The section or key is malformed
The section header must be exactly [/Script/FactoryGame.FGGameUserSettings], and the key must be inside the mFloatValues entry. Check the opening and closing parentheses, the quotation marks around FG.AutosaveInterval, and the numeric value. A missing section can be added; do not place the key in an unrelated configuration section.
A panel overwrites manual changes
Some managed services regenerate configuration from their web settings when the server starts. Set the interval through the panel’s current Server Manager control when it provides one, or edit the file only after the panel has applied its template. If the value changes back, compare the panel’s saved setting with the file immediately after a restart and use the panel as the source of truth for that installation.
The value is in minutes instead of seconds
The Server Manager field is minutes; the INI value is seconds. Entering 15.000000 in the INI does not request 15 minutes—it represents 15 seconds. For 15 minutes, use 900.000000.
The value is outside the supported UI range
The documented control range is 0–120 minutes. If a value is rejected or normalized after startup, choose a value inside that range and verify it through the manager or the file after restarting.

Console commands: useful only when your version supports them
Some hosting instructions show a console command such as FG.autosaveinterval 1. Command availability and syntax can vary by game version and by provider, and the command’s units are not necessarily the same as the INI representation. Treat a console command as a temporary, version-specific option rather than the durable configuration method.
For a setting that must survive a restart, use the current Server Manager control or set FG.AutosaveInterval in GameUserSettings.ini, then restart the server. If you do test a console command, confirm the resulting value in the manager or configuration file instead of assuming that the command was accepted.

Regardless of hosting method, the setting applies to the dedicated server that owns the world. Changing a local client’s preferences does not change the server schedule for other players.
Choosing an interval without losing progress
The documented default is 5 minutes, which limits the amount of progress that can be lost between automatic saves. Increasing the interval reduces how often the server writes saves but increases the maximum time since the last scheduled save. A 15-minute value is a direct threefold increase over the default; a 30-minute value doubles the 15-minute interval. Disabling autosaves with 0 removes that automatic recovery point entirely, so use it only when another deliberate save procedure is in place.
The three autosave slots are fixed. A shorter interval rotates those three slots more frequently; it does not create additional historical versions. If you need longer retention, handle that through separate server-file backups rather than by expecting the autosave-slot count to expand.
Quick Recap
Quick checklist
- Decide on a value between 0 and 120 minutes.
- Convert minutes to seconds for the INI: minutes × 60.
- Stop the dedicated server.
- Back up
GameUserSettings.ini. - Edit the
FGGameUserSettingssection and theFG.AutosaveIntervalentry. - Use the correct
WindowsServerorLinuxServerdirectory. - Save the file without changing its name or extension.
- Restart the server and verify the value or observe a full interval.
