How to Change the EA Account Linked to a Platform

To change the EA Account linked to a platform, sign in to the EA Account that currently holds the link, open Account Settings > Connected Accounts, and select Unlink next to the platform. Then connect the platform to the EA Account you want to use. Unlinking does not transfer progress or purchases, and EA may not let you relink right away, so check the risks and eligibility before you proceed.

Before changing the link: check access, eligibility, and content

First confirm which EA Account is connected. Sign in to EA Account settings and open Connected Accounts. If you cannot access the account that currently holds the link, try to recover it before unlinking; this is often the safer route when you want to keep using its games and progress.

EA says a platform account can be switched up to three times in a rolling year. Its troubleshooting guidance also says a platform linked less than one year ago may not yet be eligible to unlink and relink. These limits do not establish whether a particular account qualifies: check the live account settings and EA Help guidance for your case. The Unlink control may be unavailable.

Progress does not move: EA says game progress does not transfer to a different EA Account.
Access to content can be affected: EA warns that unlinking may make progress, DLC and expansions, memberships or subscriptions, prior drops and rewards, and in-game purchases inaccessible.
Steam content stays with the original EA Account: rewards, points, and items remain on the EA Account first linked to that Steam account. EA says players cannot move games or personas themselves.
Relinking is not a guarantee: some items may become available again if you reconnect the platform to the original EA Account and still have access to it, but restoration is not assured.

EA gives additional game-specific cautions: unlinking an account used for Apex Legends may cause Battle Pass leveling, item unlock, or other issues. For EA SPORTS FC, unlinking the platform account still active in the Web and Companion Apps can remove access to those apps. EA suggests switching the active platform account in the apps first to reduce, but not eliminate, that risk. See EA’s unlinking guidance for details.

How to unlink and connect the platform to another EA Account

Sign in to the EA Account you believe is currently linked to your platform.
Open Account Settings > Connected Accounts and verify the listed platform account. Connected Nintendo Accounts do not appear on this page, so check a Nintendo connection in-game instead.
If the account is old or you cannot access it, try account recovery first. EA’s linking guide describes starting the game and choosing the recovery option.
When ready to proceed, select Unlink beside the platform account. Read EA’s warning and complete any identity verification it requests.
Connect the platform to the intended EA Account. For Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo Switch, EA says to open an EA game and sign in with the primary EA Account. If prompted, enter the one-time verification code sent to that account’s email.

If you cannot unlink or connect the account

If Unlink is disabled, an error appears, or the EA Account is suspended, banned, or disabled, use EA’s linking troubleshooting guidance or contact EA Help. A recently linked platform may not be eligible to switch yet, and the public instructions cannot determine an individual account’s eligibility.

If the issue is only that the EA Account has an incorrect email address, and you want to keep that same EA Account, update its email rather than moving the platform link. If you have games on multiple EA Accounts, EA says support may be able to help combine accounts, but not everything—including game progress—can be transferred.
