To adjust your own avatar, open Roblox’s Avatar Editor and check its body or scale options. On mobile, Roblox’s documented route is Me (or Avatar) → Customize → Body; on a browser, open Avatar from the navigation menu. Roblox’s current help pages do not confirm a universal height slider, and a Roblox experience can set a different height for characters in that game.
How do I change the height of my Roblox avatar?
- Open the Avatar Editor. In the Roblox mobile app, tap Me or Avatar; the label can vary by regional rollout. Then go to Customize → Body. In a browser, select Avatar from the navigation menu. See Roblox’s mobile avatar instructions and browser Avatar Editor guide.
- Inspect the available body or scale controls. If your current editor offers a height or scale option, adjust it and check the preview. The help pages linked above explain how to reach customization, but they do not document a guaranteed height slider or its label, range, or availability.
- If there is no height control, check the experience. The game you are playing may control character height separately from your account’s avatar appearance.
Why can my avatar look a different height in a game?
An experience creator can choose how character height works for that game. Roblox Studio’s Player Choice option leaves avatar scale unchanged, while Custom Scale lets the creator set an absolute height or a minimum-to-maximum range while maintaining proportions. These settings apply to the experience; they are not a change to your global Avatar Editor settings. Roblox explains the options in its Avatar Settings documentation.
Experiences may also implement their own avatar customization or alter the default character appearance. As a result, changing your avatar outside a game does not guarantee that its character will appear at the same height in every experience.
How creators set avatar height in Roblox Studio
Set an experience-wide height or range
In Roblox Studio, open Avatar Settings → Body → Scale and choose Custom Scale. Set an absolute height in studs or configure a minimum and maximum range. Choose Player Choice instead if characters should keep their natural avatar scale without an experience-level height override. The documented design references are around 5 studs for classic-style avatars and around 6 to 6.5 studs for more humanoid-style proportions; these are creator references, not guaranteed heights for every player.

Control height through a character description
For scripting, Roblox’s HumanoidDescription.HeightScale property specifies the factor by which a humanoid’s top-to-bottom height is scaled, along with accessories not attached to the head. Roblox documents these scale adjustments for R15-style humanoids; they do not affect R6 body types. See the character appearance documentation and HeightScale API reference.
