To switch weapons during a hunt in Monster Hunter Wilds, ride your Seikret and use the Switch Weapon control. On PS5, press right on the directional button. To choose a different primary-and-secondary pair, use Change Equipment at a camp tent or speak with Gemma at a base-camp forge.
How to switch weapons during a hunt
- Mount your Seikret.
- Press right on the directional button on PS5. This switches between the primary and secondary weapons already equipped.
- On another platform, or with remapped controls, use the input assigned to Switch Weapon in your current control settings. The exact keyboard default is not established here, so check the game rather than relying on a guessed key.
The second weapon is carried by the Seikret. It can be a different weapon or the same weapon type with different properties. PlayStation’s guide describes the mounted swap and the PS5 input in its Monster Hunter Wilds guide.

How to change the weapons in your pair
The mounted command only toggles between the two weapons you have equipped; it does not open an equipment menu. To replace either weapon, go to a camp tent and choose Change Equipment, or speak with Gemma at a base-camp forge. Shacknews outlines these options in its March 12, 2025 guide.

If the weapon swap does not work
- Make sure you are riding: the documented in-field swap is performed while mounted on the Seikret.
- Check the binding: remapped controls and platform-specific layouts can use a different input. Find the current Switch Weapon binding in the game’s control settings.
- Look up weapon controls: PlayStation points players to Options > Info > Play Guide > Weapon Controls for detailed weapon information.
