If your own date of birth was entered incorrectly, use Epic Games Support and request a correction with your correct date of birth. If you are a parent or guardian correcting a child’s account, use Epic’s separate Parent/Guardian request form.
Do not enter a false birth date to bypass restrictions. If the date is accurate and the account is restricted because the player is under Epic’s applicable age of digital consent, the proper solution is parental consent or waiting until the player reaches the relevant age.
This guide covers Epic accounts used with Fortnite, Rocket League, Fall Guys, the Epic Games Store, Unreal Engine, and consoles. Before changing anything, make sure you are dealing with the Epic account that actually contains your progress and purchases.
First, identify which “account age” you mean
People often use account age to mean two different things:

- The date of birth attached to the Epic account. This is the information Epic uses for age-related restrictions, Cabined Account status, parental consent, and some feature-access decisions.
- How long the Epic account has existed. This is the account’s creation date. It does not determine whether the player is old enough to use a feature.
The rest of this article is about correcting the stored date of birth. If you want to find the account’s creation date instead, Epic says to check the original account-creation email. Epic Support cannot disclose the creation date for security reasons, and Epic’s public documentation does not provide a way to edit it. See Epic’s account-creation-date guidance.
Choose the correct solution

How to correct the date of birth on your own Epic account
Epic’s current guidance directs account holders to Support rather than to a profile-setting page. The official article says to submit a support ticket and include the correct date of birth; it does not promise that every request will be approved or provide a universal processing time. You can start at Epic’s date-of-birth support article.
Steps
- Open Epic Games Support.
- Use the Epic Support Assistant.
- Follow the troubleshooting and self-service prompts it presents. Epic may require these steps before it shows a contact option.
- If the suggested solutions do not resolve the problem, choose the option to open a support request by email or live chat, when available.
- Explain clearly that the date of birth stored on the account is incorrect and was entered by mistake.
- Provide the correct date of birth.
- Monitor the request and reply through the support system if Epic asks for more information.
Epic’s Support Assistant and contact labels can change, so do not rely on a particular category name appearing exactly as it does in an older tutorial. For the current ticket process, see Epic’s support-ticket instructions.
What to write in the request
You can adapt this wording:
The date of birth on my Epic Games account is incorrect. The information was entered by mistake. My correct date of birth is [month/day/year]. Please review and correct the date-of-birth information on this account.

The correct date of birth is the item Epic’s published guidance specifically asks you to include. These additional details are practical ways to help Support identify the account, although Epic does not list all of them as mandatory:
- Epic account email address
- Epic display name
- Epic Account ID, if you can access it
- The restriction or error message you are seeing
- The affected platform, such as PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, or mobile
You can use Epic’s Epic Account ID guide to find the ID on the web, in the Epic Games Launcher, or in Fortnite. The Account ID is useful for distinguishing between accounts, and Epic says it cannot be changed.
Track the ticket
Epic says submitted requests can be reviewed under My Requests. You can reply to open tickets there and view their status. Only tickets submitted through the Epic account currently signed in are shown, so an apparently missing request may have been submitted from a different account or sign-in session. Epic does not publish a guaranteed turnaround time for date-of-birth corrections, so submitting a ticket does not mean the restriction will disappear immediately.
How a parent or guardian corrects a child’s date of birth
A parent or guardian should not use the ordinary account-holder route if Epic has classified the account as a child’s account. Use the Parent/Guardian request form instead.

- Open the Parent/Guardian request form.
- Enter the guardian’s email address.
- Complete the email-verification step.
- Select the child’s Epic account from the list.
- Describe the problem and provide both the currently incorrect date of birth and the correct date of birth.
Use a concise explanation such as:
I am the parent or guardian of this Epic account. The child’s date of birth is currently recorded incorrectly as [incorrect date]. The correct date of birth is [correct date]. Please review and correct the account information.
If the verification code does not arrive
Epic says that if no verification code arrives, the email address entered is not registered as a guardian email for a child’s Epic account. Check that you are using the guardian email associated with the account, rather than simply an email address that belongs to the child or another family member.
If the child’s account is not listed
If the account does not appear after verification, Epic says it may be associated with a different guardian email address. Try to identify which guardian email was used for the account. Do not create a second child account or repeatedly unlink platform accounts while trying to solve this problem.

Complete the form in one session
Epic’s instructions say to complete the Parent/Guardian form in one session and not close the browser while filling it out. Have the child’s account information and both dates ready before beginning.

If the birth date is correct: deal with the Cabined Account instead
If the player really is under 13—or under the higher applicable age of digital consent in the player’s country or region—changing the date to an older one is not the legitimate fix. Epic may place the account in a Cabined Account state until a parent or guardian provides permission or the player reaches the applicable age threshold.
Epic’s rule is not simply “everyone becomes unrestricted at 13.” Its Cabined Account documentation refers to players under 13 or under the applicable higher local age of digital consent. The relevant threshold can therefore vary by location. Read the current Cabined Accounts FAQ for the account’s region.
Features that can be disabled
While an account is Cabined, Epic’s current FAQ lists restrictions that can include:
- Voice chat and free text chat
- Real-money purchases
- Downloading games not owned by Epic
- Recommendations based on past activity
- Email marketing and push notifications
- Sign in with Epic and certain links to external services
- Custom display names
- SMS-based two-factor authentication
- Some Epic Games Launcher and Unreal Engine features
That is why a young player may be unable to use chat in Fortnite, sign in to a third-party service, download a game, change a display name, or complete a purchase even when the account itself works.
The legitimate ways to enable more features
Epic says restricted features may become available after a parent or guardian completes the account setup and grants permission, or when the player reaches age 13 or the applicable local age of digital consent. Parental permission does not mean every setting is automatically unrestricted: the parent or guardian still selects available chat, content, and connection settings.
How to complete parental consent
Use the consent email Epic sent to the parent or guardian. The exact subject line may differ between Epic’s pages and messages; one support article describes [Action Requested] Your Child’s Epic Games Account, while the Cabined Account FAQ refers to Your Child Created an Epic Games Account. Search for Epic’s parental-consent email rather than expecting one universal subject line.
Epic’s documented sequence is:
- Select Continue in the parental-consent email.
- Review Epic’s Terms of Service.
- Continue to parental-controls setup.
- Configure chat, content-rating, and connection settings.
- Verify adult status using an available method.
- Confirm that the parental permissions have been applied.
Epic lists face scan, credit or debit card, and ID scan among the verification methods, but says the methods available depend on the region. These verification methods are part of the parental-consent process; they are not a universal way for an account holder to edit its stored birth date. Details are in Epic’s parental-consent instructions.
If the consent email was lost, Epic says the player can sign in to the Epic Account portal and use Request Parental Permission to resend it.
Purchase edge case: Epic’s current Cabined Account FAQ says that, beginning in June 2025, a Cabined Account can add a Fortnite gift card to its Epic account balance. That balance is limited to Epic game purchases and cannot be used for Fortnite Crew subscriptions. Other real-money payment activity still requires parental account setup and permission.
Parental Controls do not change the account’s age
Parental Controls and the stored date of birth are separate systems:
- Wrong birth date: request a correction from Epic Support, or use the Parent/Guardian form for a child’s account.
- Correct birth date but a genuinely young player: complete parental consent or wait for the applicable age threshold.
- Feature or content setting is too restrictive: review Parental Controls.
- Game content is blocked: check the game’s own rating and the account’s content permissions.
To review Parental Controls, sign in to the Epic account, open Parental Controls, enter the six-digit PIN, and change the available settings. Epic documents this process in its Parental Controls instructions. Changing a chat, content-rating, or purchase setting does not edit the date of birth stored on the account.

Check the Epic account before changing anything on a console
Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys players often have several identities involved: a PlayStation Network, Xbox, or Nintendo account; an Epic account; and sometimes a separate publisher account for a particular game. The email used by the console account may not be the email used by the Epic account. A console may also have automatically created or connected to an Epic account.

Before opening a correction request, compare the Epic Account ID shown on the Epic website with the ID shown in the game or launcher. Epic specifically advises console users to verify that the website account matches the in-game account. The relevant account-ID information is available in Epic’s Account ID guide and its console account and Parental Controls guidance.
Do not unlink the console account just to fix an age restriction
Unlinking is not a safe general solution for a date-of-birth problem. Epic warns that unlinking a console account can remove access to game data from that console. Signing in again after unlinking can also create a new, empty Epic account. Depending on the game and platform, progress, purchases, cosmetics, and other linked data may remain associated with the original Epic account rather than following the new connection.
Use the existing account’s Support or parental-consent route first. Only change a console connection after identifying which Epic account holds the data and understanding the consequences described in Epic’s console-unlinking guidance.

The Support Assistant does not show a ticket option
Epic says the Support Assistant may first require troubleshooting and self-service steps. Complete the prompts, then look for an option to open a request by email or live chat. The exact labels and routing can change. If no contact option appears, return to Epic Support and describe the date-of-birth issue through the available account-support path rather than using an unofficial service.
You cannot log in
Epic’s public date-of-birth guidance does not provide a separate, detailed no-login correction procedure. Start at Epic Support and explain that you cannot access the account as well as explaining the incorrect birth date. Provide only information through Epic’s official support flow. Do not give your password to anyone claiming to be Support.
The parent is not receiving the verification code
Use the guardian email registered to the child’s Epic account. Check spam and filtering, but most importantly confirm that the email is the one associated with the account. Epic says that an absent code can mean the entered address is not registered as the guardian email.
The child’s account is missing from the Parent/Guardian form
The account may be connected to a different guardian email. Verify that the parent or guardian is using the right email, and complete the form in a single browser session. If the account remains unavailable, contact Epic through the official support route and explain the account relationship.
The account is still restricted after submitting a correction
A submitted ticket is a request for review, not an instant change. Check My Requests from the same signed-in account used to submit the ticket, reply to any follow-up question, and allow Epic to complete its review. If the date was accurate from the beginning, a correction request will not replace the parental-consent process.
The game shows a different age or account than the website
Sign out only when you are sure you know which account contains the game data, then compare the Epic Account ID in the game, launcher, and website. A different email address or console connection can make it appear that the birth date has changed when you are actually viewing another Epic account.
The consent email has a different subject line
Epic’s current pages use different descriptions for the email subject. Look for an email from Epic requesting parental consent or action for the child’s account, and use the Request Parental Permission option in the Epic Account portal if the message was lost.

What not to do
- Do not enter a false birth date. Epic’s Terms of Service require account information to be accurate. A correction request should fix an error, not falsely age an account.
- Do not use “account age changer” websites, unofficial APIs, browser-storage edits, launcher-file edits, or game-configuration tricks. They are not Epic-approved correction methods and may expose the account or credentials.
- Do not send passwords, payment details, or identity documents to social-media accounts or third-party websites. If Epic requests verification, provide it only through the official Epic support or parental-consent flow.
- Do not unlink a console account as an experiment. Confirm the Account ID and data ownership first.
- Do not create a replacement account before trying to correct the existing one. A new Epic account will not automatically inherit the existing account’s purchases, progression, cosmetics, or linked data.
Bottom-line decision tree
- Entered the wrong date? Use Epic Support for your own account, or the Parent/Guardian request form for a child’s account.
- Date is correct and the player is below the applicable age? Use parental consent or wait until the relevant age threshold. Do not submit a false date.
- Only chat, content, or purchase settings are blocked? Review Parental Controls and the game’s own restrictions.
- Not sure which account is affected? Compare Epic Account IDs before changing links.
- Using a console? Do not unlink it merely to solve an age restriction, because the change can disrupt access to stored game data.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I change my Epic Games age from the website?
There is no normal age-edit field in Epic account settings. For an incorrect date of birth, submit a request through Epic Games Support. A parent or guardian correcting a child’s account should use the Parent/Guardian request form.
Can I view the birth date stored on my Epic account?
Epic’s current support documentation says the date of birth linked to an Epic account cannot be viewed through the account. Do not use browser files, launcher files, or unofficial tools to try to extract it.

Epic’s guidance says to submit a support ticket with the correct date of birth when the stored information is wrong. It does not guarantee approval or publish a universal processing time, so describe the correction accurately and wait for Epic’s review.
What if I entered the wrong year but the month and day are correct?
Treat it as a date-of-birth correction. Include the complete correct date in the Epic Support request. If it is a child’s account, the parent or guardian should provide both the currently recorded date and the correct date through the Parent/Guardian form.
What if I am over 13 but still have a Cabined Account?
Epic’s threshold is not universally 13; it refers to age 13 or the applicable higher local age of digital consent. If the date is correct but the account remains restricted, check for a pending parental-consent request, verify that you are using the correct Epic account, and contact Epic Support if the restriction appears incorrect.
Does changing Parental Controls change my Epic account age?
No. Parental Controls use a six-digit PIN to manage feature, chat, content-rating, and connection permissions. They do not edit the account’s stored date of birth.

Can I change my Fortnite age separately from my Epic Games age?
Fortnite uses the Epic account identity for these account-level age and Cabined Account decisions. There is no documented separate Fortnite age-edit setting. Correct the Epic account through Support or complete parental consent when the account is genuinely underage.
How long does Epic Support take to correct a birth date?
