ASUS ROG Ally does not show an official battery-health percentage in Armoury Crate SE. To check how much capacity the battery can still hold, generate Windows’ built-in battery report with powercfg /batteryreport, then compare its Full Charge Capacity with Design Capacity.
How to check ROG Ally battery health
- Open Windows Search.
- Type Command Prompt and open it.
- Paste this command and press Enter:
powercfg /batteryreport /output "%USERPROFILE%Desktopbattery-report.html" - Open battery-report.html from your desktop.
Microsoft describes /batteryreport as a report of battery-usage characteristics over the lifetime of the system. The explicit desktop path matters: without /output, Windows saves the report in the Command Prompt’s current directory, which may not be the desktop. Microsoft’s powercfg documentation lists the command syntax and output behavior.
How to read the battery report
Find the battery-information section in the HTML report and locate:
- Design Capacity: the battery’s original rated capacity.
- Full Charge Capacity: the maximum capacity Windows currently reports.
If Full Charge Capacity is lower than Design Capacity, the battery has lost some of its original capacity. You can calculate a rough remaining-capacity estimate with:

Full Charge Capacity ÷ Design Capacity × 100For example, if the report shows a Full Charge Capacity of 32,000 mWh and a Design Capacity of 40,000 mWh, the estimate is 80%.
This percentage is an estimate, not an official ASUS or Microsoft battery-health rating. It is not a calibrated diagnostic, and the reported values can be affected by battery measurement and calibration behavior. Use it as an indication of capacity loss rather than a definitive “good” or “bad” verdict.

What Armoury Crate SE can—and cannot—tell you
On supported Ally software, Armoury Crate SE includes Battery Care, but ASUS documents it as a charging-protection feature. It does not provide a battery-health percentage, wear percentage, cycle count, or good/poor health status. ASUS’s current Armoury Crate SE support page documents Battery Care and the supported application versions.
To open Armoury Crate SE:
- ROG Ally and ROG Ally X: press the physical Armoury Crate button.
- ROG Xbox Ally models: press Command Center, then select Open Armoury Crate SE.
Then open Settings and look for Battery Care. The current ASUS documentation says Armoury Crate SE requires version 2.1.10.0 or later and lists support for the ROG Ally (2023), ROG Ally X (2024), ROG Xbox Ally (2025), and ROG Xbox Ally X (2025), including model families RC71L, RC72LA, RC73YA, and RC73XA.

Menu names can vary by model, software version, country, or region. ASUS’s Ally manual also notes that its screenshots and menus may differ from the software installed on your device.
Battery Care is not the same as battery health
Battery Care helps reduce wear by managing charging behavior. ASUS’s Ally manual warns that prolonged high-voltage charging can shorten battery life and separately refers to Battery Health Charging in MyASUS for charging-limit management. Neither the Battery Care menu nor the Windows taskbar’s battery percentage tells you the battery’s remaining maximum capacity.
The percentage shown in Windows or Armoury Crate is your current charge level—how full the battery is right now. Battery health concerns how much energy the battery can hold compared with when it was new.

powercfg /energycreates an energy-efficiency and battery-life-problem analysis. It is not a battery-capacity or battery-health report.powercfg /sleepstudycreates a recent Modern Standby quality report. It analyzes standby behavior, not battery degradation or maximum capacity.
For battery capacity, use powercfg /batteryreport.
If the report is missing
If you cannot find the HTML file, run the command again with the full desktop output path:
powercfg /batteryreport /output "%USERPROFILE%Desktopbattery-report.html"Look for the success message in Command Prompt, then open the file from the desktop. A report generated without /output may have been saved in the current Command Prompt directory instead.
If Armoury Crate SE is missing
You do not need Armoury Crate SE to generate the Windows battery report. If Armoury Crate SE was uninstalled and its controls no longer work, ASUS says the application enables gamepad-as-mouse operation in Desktop Mode. Reinstall the Armoury Crate SE Installer from your Ally model’s ASUS product-support page.
If the Ally stops charging below 100%
Stopping at a number below exactly 100% does not automatically mean the battery is defective. ASUS says the system may stop charging between 90% and 100% and may resume charging between 90% and 99%, depending on the model and protection behavior. Check Battery Care and use the battery report before assuming the battery has failed.
If you see “battery connector plug in unsuccessful”
ASUS says that when this warning appears together with a continuously flashing battery-charge indicator, the battery connection should be checked or reconnected. If the warning persists, have the device inspected by a qualified service provider. This message indicates a connection or charging fault; it is not, by itself, proof that the battery is worn out.
