The way to check your Minecraft hours depends on your edition or device: in Bedrock, open Play → Profile → Stats; in Java, open a world and go to Pause → Statistics → General → Time Played. On Nintendo Switch, check the user profile on the HOME Menu for playtime on recently played games.
Check playtime in Minecraft Bedrock Edition
- From the Minecraft Play screen, open Profile.
- Open Stats and find the time-played entry.
Minecraft’s Bedrock Edition 1.21 release notes list time played in the Profile stats view and say, “The stats view combines play across all platforms.” That describes the stats view’s cross-platform aggregation; it does not establish that every historical session, device, or edition is included.
Check playtime in Minecraft Java Edition
- Enter the world you want to check.
- Open the pause menu and select Statistics.
- Under General, look for Time Played.
The Minecraft Wiki’s Statistics reference describes this figure in relation to the world you opened. It is not necessarily a complete total across all your worlds. Menu wording can change between releases.
Check Minecraft playtime on Nintendo Switch
- From the Switch HOME Menu, select your user icon.
- Scroll down the profile page to review playtime for recently played games.
Nintendo also provides a Play Activity history that shows daily activity. For the most up-to-date activity, Nintendo says each console needs an internet connection. See Nintendo Support’s steps for checking Switch play time and usage activity.

Which Minecraft version are you playing?
If you are unsure whether you have Java or Bedrock, check the edition before following the in-game steps: their menus and device availability differ. Minecraft’s official Java or Bedrock overview explains the distinction. Bedrock’s Profile stats route is the cross-platform option described in the 1.21 release notes; Java’s Time Played entry is tied to the selected world.
Xbox and PlayStation
Current exact Xbox and PlayStation menu steps are not established here, so do not rely on an assumed console-wide Minecraft counter. Check the platform’s current support guidance or the Minecraft edition’s in-game stats, where available.

What the number does—and doesn’t—tell you
- Java’s Time Played entry is a world statistic, not necessarily your overall account total.
- Bedrock’s release notes describe aggregation across platforms, but do not define all historical or account-linking limits.
- Switch playtime is a system-level record for recently played software, with daily activity available separately.
- Do not treat Minecraft’s in-game day count as real-world hours; it is a different measure.
