Premium Edition includes both Forza Horizon 6 expansions. Premium Upgrade also includes Expansion 1 and Expansion 2, but it is not a standalone copy of the game: you must own the base game or have an eligible Game Pass subscription. Standard and Deluxe editions do not include the expansions; they list them as separate add-ons. Game Pass access to Forza Horizon 6 provides the Standard Edition, not automatic access to its expansions.
The fastest way to identify your expansion entitlement
Find the exact edition name attached to your Xbox or PC copy of Forza Horizon 6. Check the game’s library entry, the order confirmation, or the receipt rather than relying on which cars or other bonuses appear in your garage. Then compare that name with the official edition matrix.

- Premium Edition: Expansion 1 and Expansion 2 are included.
- Premium Upgrade: Both expansions are included, along with other premium content, but the upgrade requires the base game separately or an eligible Game Pass subscription.
- Standard Edition: The base game is included; the expansions are separate add-ons.
- Deluxe Edition: The base game and its listed extras, including Car Pass, are included; the expansions remain separate add-ons.
- Game Pass access: The subscription provides the Standard Edition. It does not, by itself, establish ownership of either expansion.
If your record says Standard or Deluxe, look for a separate Expansion Bundle or an individual expansion purchase. If it says Premium, you should not need to buy the Expansion Bundle again for the two expansions.

The table reflects the Xbox/PC entitlement information published for Forza Horizon 6. It does not establish that every PlayStation 5 storefront uses identical edition names or purchase routes.
What counts as reliable proof of ownership
Use a hierarchy of evidence when labels are confusing. The exact product name on the account’s library or order history is the strongest first check. A Microsoft or Xbox receipt showing “Premium Edition,” “Premium Upgrade” or “Expansion Bundle” is more useful than a generic game icon. Store pages can display several editions side by side, so make sure the order record refers to the product actually purchased.
Installed files are not a dependable ownership test. A console or PC may download shared files for an add-on before you have a license, or show a game tile without displaying every entitlement. Likewise, receiving bonus cars, VIP items or Car Pass content confirms only those separate benefits. It does not change a Standard or Deluxe license into Premium.
Keep the purchasing account, order number and transaction date available if you need help. The account that launches the game should be the account being checked; looking at a different Microsoft account can make an owned add-on appear missing. Family-sharing or console-sharing arrangements can also make the playable base game and the purchasing account look different, so verify the license owner rather than relying only on which profile can start the game.
Check the edition in your Xbox or PC library
1. Open the library record for the game
Go to the Xbox or PC library account that you use to play Forza Horizon 6. Locate the game and open its product details or library information. Read the full product name, including the edition descriptor. A title that simply says “Forza Horizon 6” is not enough to identify expansion rights; the record should distinguish Standard, Deluxe, Premium or Premium Upgrade where applicable.
2. Compare the exact name with the entitlement table
Match the edition word-for-word. “Premium Edition” means the base game and both expansions were sold together. “Premium Upgrade” means the two expansions and other premium content were sold as an upgrade, while the game itself must come from another purchase or an eligible subscription. “Deluxe” does not become “Premium” because it includes Car Pass or another bonus.
3. Check the purchase record when the library label is unclear
Use the Microsoft/Xbox order confirmation or receipt associated with the account. The purchased product name is more useful than an icon, installed file list or the presence of bonus cars. Keep the order date and account identity visible if you need to resolve a missing entitlement with support.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute4. Check subscription access separately
If you launch the game through Game Pass, treat that access as Standard Edition access. The subscription can provide the base game while leaving both expansions unowned. Playground Games’ FAQ describes Premium Upgrade as requiring the game separately or a Game Pass Ultimate or PC subscription; the Xbox Expansion Bundle listing likewise says the game or an eligible Game Pass subscription is required and sold separately.
5. Check for a second product on the same account
Standard or Deluxe may appear in the library while a separate Expansion Bundle is listed elsewhere in the account’s order history. Search for “Expansion Bundle,” “Expansion 1” and “Expansion 2,” not just for the base-game title. The Xbox listing says the two expansions can be purchased separately, so an account may own one expansion individually rather than the two-expansion bundle. In that case, the missing expansion is not covered by the other one.

How to tell whether both expansions are actually covered
Premium Edition and Premium Upgrade are the two edition names that establish ownership of both expansions. The Expansion Bundle is the separate product that also contains both. Standard and Deluxe do not establish ownership, even when the account has additional premium products.
Do not infer expansion ownership from any of these items:
Recommended Free Tools
- Car Pass or individual car packs.
- VIP status or other loyalty bonuses.
- Premium cars that were delivered to the in-game garage.
- The ability to launch the base game through Game Pass.
- The game’s large overall car roster. Playground Games describes the base game as offering more than 550 cars, but that figure is context about the game and does not identify DLC entitlement.
The official edition matrix treats these products as separate lines. Only the edition or add-on name that explicitly includes the expansions answers the entitlement question.
Premium Upgrade versus Expansion Bundle
Both products contain Expansion 1 and Expansion 2, but they solve different ownership situations.
| If you already have… | Usually relevant product | What it provides | What it does not provide |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Standard or Deluxe base game and you want the wider premium package | Premium Upgrade | Both expansions plus the other premium content listed with the upgrade. | A separate standalone copy of the base game. |
| The base game and you only want the two expansions | Expansion Bundle | Expansion 1 and Expansion 2. | The base game and unrelated Premium content. |
| Premium Edition already attached to your account | Neither is needed for the same two expansions. | Both expansions are already included. | Buying another bundle would duplicate the entitlement rather than add a new edition. |
| Game Pass access without a purchased Premium edition | Premium Upgrade or Expansion Bundle | Expansion access, provided the subscription or base-game requirement is met. | Automatic ownership of the expansions through the Standard access alone. |
Choose Premium Upgrade when you want the complete set of premium additions attached to the game you already play. Choose Expansion Bundle when the two expansions are the only extra content you need. The official listings do not state that Standard or Deluxe owners receive a discount merely for owning those editions.
Do not buy both products simply because each product page mentions the expansions. They overlap on Expansion 1 and Expansion 2. If the account already has Premium Edition, another purchase of either product is unnecessary for those same entitlements. If the account has Standard or Deluxe, compare the wider premium contents of Premium Upgrade with the expansion-only scope of the Expansion Bundle before paying.

Game Pass cases that cause confusion
Game Pass supplies the base-game route
Game Pass access is described as Standard Edition access. That explains why a subscriber can install or launch the base game without buying Standard Edition separately. It does not convert the subscription into Premium Edition and does not automatically add either expansion.
Which subscriptions are named for Premium Upgrade?
Playground Games’ wording names Game Pass Ultimate or PC subscription access as an eligible route for Premium Upgrade’s base-game requirement. The Xbox Expansion Bundle listing also says that the game or an eligible Game Pass subscription is required and sold separately. Check the current product page for the subscription tier offered on your platform instead of assuming every Game Pass plan qualifies.
What happens if the subscription changes?
Expansion ownership is separate from the right to play the base game through a subscription. If the subscription no longer provides game access, a Premium Upgrade or Expansion Bundle still is not a standalone base game. You need a separately owned game or an active eligible subscription to use the add-on requirement described by the listings.

What the official listings say
The Xbox Game Studios Expansion Bundle listing states: “Both Expansions will be available to purchase separately and are included in the Forza Horizon 6 Premium Edition and Premium Upgrade.” The same listing says that the game or a Game Pass subscription is required and sold separately.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Playground Games’ Premium Upgrade wording is similarly explicit: “Requires game, sold separately, or Game Pass (Ultimate or PC) subscription.” That requirement explains why Premium Upgrade appears in a library without replacing the base-game license.
Playground Games’ May 19, 2026 launch article and its January 22, 2026 FAQ provide the Game Pass and edition context. The current Forza.net/Microsoft edition table is the clearest place to distinguish expansion entitlements from Car Pass, VIP and car-pack content.
Common mistakes when checking an edition
- Reading only “Forza Horizon 6.” The base title omits the edition descriptor, so open the full product details or receipt.
- Assuming Deluxe means all DLC. Deluxe includes its listed extras, but the matrix still lists both expansions as add-ons.
- Confusing Car Pass with an expansion. Car Pass is a separate premium item and does not prove access to either expansion.
- Treating Game Pass as a Premium license. Game Pass supplies Standard access unless an additional Premium Upgrade or expansion license is attached.
- Buying the bundle twice. Premium Edition and Premium Upgrade already include both expansions; the Expansion Bundle overlaps those rights.
- Checking the wrong account. Verify the account shown on the order confirmation, not only the profile currently signed in on the console.
- Assuming every platform uses the same catalog. The documented matrix covers Xbox and PC; PS5 listings must be checked separately.
If an included expansion is not appearing
When the record says Premium Edition
Confirm that you are signed in to the account that owns the Premium Edition. Check the purchase record, then reopen the game’s product details and look for the expansion entries. The official material does not document one universal in-game entitlement screen, so a missing in-game menu by itself is not proof that the license is absent.
When the record says Premium Upgrade
Verify the separate base-game requirement. Premium Upgrade supplies the expansions and other premium content, but it is not a standalone game. A valid copy of the game or an eligible Game Pass Ultimate or PC subscription must be available on the same account and platform ecosystem.
When the record says Standard or Deluxe
Those editions do not include the expansions in the official table. Check whether the account also owns the Expansion Bundle or an individual expansion. If no separate purchase appears, the expected entitlement is the base game and the edition’s listed extras only.
When you are using Game Pass
Check the subscription status and the account that launches the game. Game Pass access explains why the base game is playable, but it does not prove that either expansion was purchased. If the subscription ends, the base-game access can change; expansion ownership still depends on a Premium Upgrade, Expansion Bundle or another explicit expansion license.
When only one expansion is available
Look for an individual expansion purchase. The Xbox listing says both expansions are available separately as well as in the Expansion Bundle. Owning Expansion 1 alone does not establish ownership of Expansion 2, and vice versa. A Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade or Expansion Bundle is the evidence for both together.
Platform and edition limits to keep in mind
The documented comparison is for Xbox and PC entitlements. The available official material does not establish a complete PlayStation 5 edition matrix or prove that PlayStation storefront purchase routes use the same names. If you play on PS5, read the edition and add-on descriptions on that platform’s own listing before assuming that an Xbox or PC entitlement transfers.

Likewise, the absence of a documented universal in-game entitlement page means that the safest evidence remains the exact library label, order confirmation or receipt, followed by the official store description for the platform on which you play.

- Write down the exact edition name shown in your library or receipt.
- If it says Premium Edition, treat both expansions as included.
- If it says Premium Upgrade, confirm that the base game or eligible Game Pass access is also available.
- If it says Standard or Deluxe, search the account’s purchases for Expansion Bundle or an individual expansion.
- If access comes from Game Pass, remember that it supplies Standard Edition access rather than automatic DLC ownership.
- Do not use Car Pass, VIP, car packs, garage contents or the overall car count as proof of expansion ownership.
- For PS5, verify the platform-specific listing instead of assuming the Xbox/PC matrix applies unchanged.
Bottom line for common purchase questions
“Is the expansion included with my edition?”
Yes only when the record identifies Premium Edition or Premium Upgrade, or when the account separately owns the Expansion Bundle or an individual expansion.
“Does Premium Upgrade include both expansions?”
Yes. It includes Expansion 1 and Expansion 2, but it requires the base game separately or eligible Game Pass access.
“Does Game Pass include the Forza Horizon 6 DLC?”
Game Pass provides the Standard Edition access described by the official listings. Expansion access requires Premium Upgrade or a separate expansion purchase.

Deluxe does not include the expansions in the official edition table. You need the Expansion Bundle, an individual expansion purchase, or a Premium Upgrade if you want that additional content.
“Does Car Pass mean I have the expansions?”
No. Car Pass and the expansions are separate lines in the edition list. Check for Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade, Expansion Bundle or an individual expansion license.
“Can I buy Premium Upgrade without owning the game?”
Premium Upgrade is not a standalone game. The listing requires the game separately or an eligible Game Pass Ultimate or PC subscription, so confirm that requirement before purchasing.
“Are the two expansions sold only as a bundle?”
No. The Xbox listing says both expansions are available to purchase separately and are also included together in Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade and the Expansion Bundle.
“Why can I play the game but not the expansions?”
The most likely explanation is Standard access through Game Pass or a Standard/Deluxe purchase without a separate expansion license. Check the account’s order history for Premium Upgrade, Expansion Bundle or an individual expansion.
