What’s actually slowing this PC down?

There is no universal “horror games are allowed” answer. To decide whether a specific title is suitable, check the exact edition, destination platform, region, publication format, age rating, depicted content, content-label rules, publisher policy, recording restrictions, and soundtrack rights. A private test or review of the planned footage is the final practical check.
Start with the exact release you plan to publish
Write down these details before checking any policy:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Game and edition: use the full title, platform version, and any remaster, regional cut, demo, early-access build, or downloadable episode. Content and ratings can differ between versions.
- Destination: identify the service where viewers will watch. Twitch, YouTube, and other services apply different rules and enforcement systems.
- Region: note the country whose rating, distribution rights, and publisher terms apply to you and your audience.
- Format: distinguish a live broadcast, automatically saved VOD, edited upload, short clip, trailer, or private recording. A publisher may permit one format and restrict another.
- Audio and capture setup: record whether you will include the original soundtrack, licensed music, voice chat, cutscenes, or only selected gameplay.
Without those facts, the honest result is a screening checklist, not a title-specific clearance. Owning or buying a copy does not establish that every included song, video, character, or other asset may be rebroadcast.
1. Check the destination platform before you go live
Twitch’s prohibited-game rules
Read Twitch’s current List of Prohibited Games and Community Guidelines immediately before publishing. Twitch prohibits games with an official ESRB Adults Only rating and games that violate applicable rules on matters such as hate speech, sex, nudity, gratuitous gore, or extreme violence. The list is not exhaustive and can change, so an old screenshot, forum answer, or the fact that other channels are streaming a title is not proof of current eligibility.

Twitch says an unrated game may be reviewed when there is no wholly comparable rated title. It may restrict a game when one element is sufficiently extreme or when several elements together amount to a violation. “Horror” is therefore not the deciding category: inspect what the particular game actually shows and how intensely it shows it.
Rules on other services
Do not transfer Twitch’s thresholds or labels to another service. Read the current community, safety, age-restriction, and copyright pages for the service where the video will appear. YouTube’s copyright guidance can help with music and other rights questions, but the material available for this checklist does not establish a complete YouTube-specific horror-content labeling test. If you publish on several services, run the screening separately for each one.
Keep a dated record
Save the policy page or note the date you checked it, the game edition, and the result. Platform rules are volatile; a decision made months ago may not describe the rule in force when you stream.
2. Use the age rating as a warning system, not permission
Look up the rating used in the relevant market. ESRB’s ratings guide explains categories and content descriptors that can flag material needing closer review. A Mature or Adults Only rating should trigger a detailed content audit, while a lower rating does not guarantee that every scene, song, or publisher term is acceptable to a platform.
Ratings are regional and version-specific. A rating assigned in one market does not automatically settle a different market’s rules. If a platform refers to an “official” rating, verify which edition and rating authority it recognizes. An unrated game may receive an independent platform assessment.

| Rating check | What it tells you | What it does not tell you |
|---|---|---|
| Category (for example, Mature) | The rating authority’s broad age classification for the reviewed version. | That a particular platform will permit every broadcast or upload. |
| Content descriptors | Signals such as violence, graphic content, sexual themes, profanity, or drug references that merit scene review. | The intensity, duration, context, or timing of every scene. |
| No rating | That you need additional scrutiny and may face a platform’s own assessment. | That the game is unrestricted. |
3. Audit what viewers will actually see
Map the sensitive material
Play far enough to identify the material in the planned route, not merely the opening hour. Note graphic injury, dismemberment, torture, sexual material, nudity, threats involving protected groups, extreme language, drug use, self-harm, and scenes that could be interpreted as glorifying abuse. Record where each item occurs and whether it is optional, random, or unavoidable.
Consider presentation as well as presence. A brief implied death, a prolonged close-up, interactive torture, and repeated gore can create very different moderation risks. Also check menus, loading screens, promotional videos, character customization, subtitles, and user-generated content; a restricted image can appear outside the main campaign.

Check the planned cut, not only the full game
If you will edit the recording, identify exactly what remains in the final timeline. Removing a scene can reduce exposure, but it does not remove a separate issue such as unauthorized music. Conversely, an edited highlight may concentrate the most graphic moments and deserve a fresh review.
Do not confuse a warning with a ban
A mature-content warning or audience setting tells viewers what to expect. It does not make gameplay that violates a platform rule permissible. Treat labels as an additional disclosure step after the platform eligibility check.
4. Apply the platform’s content labels correctly
Twitch labels
Twitch’s Content Classification Labels guidance covers mature-rated games and categories including violent and graphic depictions, sexual themes, significant profanity, and drugs or intoxication. Selecting an ESRB Mature-rated game as the stream category automatically applies the Mature-Rated Game label. Review the other labels that match the material in your broadcast and keep them accurate if the content changes.

The labels are viewer-facing classifications, not exemptions. A prohibited title or prohibited scene remains subject to enforcement even when every available label is selected. Twitch does not pre-approve content; responsibility remains with the creator.

Use that service’s own audience-setting names, age gates, and disclosure requirements. Do not assume that a Twitch label, a rating badge, or a warning in your title satisfies another service’s policy.
5. Read the publisher’s video policy and EULA
Find the current publisher or developer policy for videos and livestreams, then read the game’s EULA. Search within both documents for stream, video, record, music, licensed, cutscene, embargo, and broadcast.
Look for these restrictions:
- Permission limited to non-commercial, editorial, or fan-created videos.
- Embargo dates for reviews, early access, or specific chapters.
- Cutscenes, endings, multiplayer events, or other sections that may not be recorded.
- Required attribution, disclaimers, or takedown procedures.
- Separate rules for livestreams, archived VODs, clips, and edited uploads.
- Territorial or platform limitations, especially for licensed characters, sports, films, or music.
A general “you may share gameplay” statement may not cover every asset. If the policy is silent, that silence is not proof that all uses are authorized; ask the rights holder or choose a lower-risk presentation.
6. Treat in-game music as a separate rights check
Music is often licensed to the game publisher under terms that do not automatically grant you a public-performance or recording license. Twitch’s music guidance, published 11 November 2020, states: “Most importantly, don’t play recorded music in your stream unless you own all rights in the music, or you have the permission of the necessary rights holder(s).” That is platform guidance, not a game-specific legal determination.

Check the EULA and publisher policy for the exact soundtrack. Determine whether music includes commercial songs, radio stations, menu themes, licensed artists, or third-party voice recordings. A soundtrack may be permitted in live gameplay but muted in an archived VOD, or it may be restricted in every format.
When the rights are unclear
Twitch identifies several precautions:
- Turn off the game’s music if a separate music setting exists.
- Mute game audio, understanding that this also removes effects and dialogue.
- Turn off VODs and Clips when that control is available, so a live broadcast is not automatically preserved.
These measures reduce soundtrack exposure; they do not grant rights to visual assets, dialogue, or restricted scenes. Test the setting before going live and confirm that a soundtrack is not still audible through menus, cinematics, or a separate audio bus.
7. Check for recording-blocked sections and embargoes
Some publishers allow gameplay while reserving particular cutscenes, endings, competitive events, or unreleased areas. Look for an in-game recording warning, a publisher’s creator FAQ, or an embargo notice. Configure your capture software to stop or hide the affected section if the policy requires it.
For a live show, prepare a scene that displays a holding message while a restricted sequence plays. For an edited upload, remove the sequence and check that its audio is not present underneath commentary. Do not assume that a capture-card signal being technically available means the publisher permits redistribution.
8. Review a private test recording
Before a public broadcast, make a short private capture from the exact build and settings you intend to use. Watch it as a viewer rather than as the player who knows what is coming.
Best Value
- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.
- Dual C-Clamp Hold - Worried your dual monitors might wobble or slip? Our upgraded base uses a larger platform plus a dual C-clamp structure to lock the dual monitor arm firmly to your desk. Each arm safely keeps your screens steady while you type, click and game—no shaking, no sliding, just a clean and secure setup you can trust every day. It also provides Grommet Mounting installation choice, both options ensure stable and secure fixation for your 0.59" - 3.54" desk.
- Full-Motion Adjustment For Comfortable View - Pull the screen closer when you’re deep in a spreadsheet, push it back to watch videos, or rotate to portrait for coding — moving everything smoothly with just one hand. The monitor stand offers +85°/-50° tilt, ±90° swivel and 360° rotation. Raise your monitor up to 15.75″ to support a healthy sitting posture. Whether you’re working from home, gaming through the night, or switching between video calls and documents, getting the screens to your natural line of sight helps relieve neck, shoulder and back strain so you can stay focused longer with less fatigue.
- Keep Your Desk Organized: By lifting both screens off the desktop, this dual monitor stand opens up valuable space for your keyboard, notebook, docking station or a simple, clutter-free work area. Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
- Start the game with the planned language, subtitles, brightness, accessibility options, and music setting.
- Capture gameplay, menus, transitions, cutscenes, and the audio mix that viewers will receive.
- Check the beginning and end of the file for startup videos, advertisements, or music that begins before gameplay.
- Review the loudest and most graphic moments at normal playback speed and with subtitles enabled.
- Confirm that labels, age gates, titles, thumbnails, and descriptions match the actual material.
- Verify that your platform’s VOD and clip settings behave as expected; a private test is not advance approval.
For an edited recording, review the exported file, not just the editing timeline. Exporting can restore disabled audio tracks, alter loudness, or leave a few frames of a scene that you meant to remove.
Use the same decision axes when comparing games
| Axis | Question | Lower-risk indication | Action if uncertain |
|---|---|---|---|
| Platform status | Is the exact title currently prohibited or under review? | No applicable prohibition after checking the current rules. | Do not publish until the rule is clear. |
| Rating | What rating and descriptors apply to this version and region? | A rating whose descriptors match the material you have audited. | Review the actual scenes; do not rely on the category alone. |
| Depicted content | How graphic, sexual, violent, or otherwise sensitive is the planned footage? | Non-graphic or edited presentation that complies with the service’s rules. | Cut, avoid, or choose another title if the platform threshold is unclear. |
| Publisher permission | Does the current policy permit your format and timing? | Express permission covering livestreams, VODs, or uploads. | Seek clarification or omit restricted sections. |
| Soundtrack rights | Are all recorded songs authorized for this use? | Clear rights or a tested music-off/streamer mode. | Disable or mute music and check VOD/clip exposure. |
| Operational burden | Can you label, edit, monitor, and moderate the material reliably? | Simple settings and a route with predictable content. | Use scene markers, hotkeys, moderators, or a different game. |
What to do in common uncertain cases
The game is unrated
Check the platform’s own review language and examine the content in detail. Do not infer that unrated means suitable for all audiences or that it automatically qualifies as Adults Only. If the service cannot give a clear answer, choose a title with a recognized rating or contact platform support before publishing.
Other creators are streaming it
That is not a clearance. They may be in another region, using a different edition, omitting a restricted scene, or taking enforcement risk. Confirm the current rule for your account and format.
Recommended Free Tools
The game is rated Mature but contains no obviously graphic scene
Read every descriptor and inspect the planned route. Mature status can reflect sexual themes, strong language, drug references, or sustained violence rather than visible gore. Apply the platform’s labels and any publisher requirements that fit those descriptors.
The game has a streamer mode
Use it only as evidence about the soundtrack or other designated content. A streamer mode does not override a platform prohibition, a publisher embargo, or restrictions on scenes that the mode does not change. Test what it actually removes.
A copyright claim appears after publication
Preserve the notice, identify the claimed audio or video, and compare it with the publisher’s terms and your permissions. Follow the platform’s dispute or removal process only when you have a defensible basis. Do not repeatedly re-upload the same disputed material without resolving the rights question.
You discover a restricted scene during a live broadcast
Switch to a prepared holding scene, mute or stop the capture if necessary, and return only after the scene has ended or been skipped. Afterwards, check the saved VOD and clips; a live response does not automatically remove material already recorded.
A reusable pre-publication checklist
- Exact title, edition, build, region, destination, and format recorded.
- Current platform prohibited-game and community rules checked on the publication day.
- Relevant rating and every content descriptor saved.
- Planned route reviewed for graphic violence, sexual material, nudity, extreme language, hate-related content, drugs, and other sensitive themes.
- Correct audience labels and age settings selected.
- Publisher video policy and EULA read for livestreams, VODs, uploads, clips, embargoes, and no-recording sections.
- Soundtrack rights verified separately from the gameplay license.
- Music disabled, muted, or otherwise authorized when rights are uncertain.
- Private test capture watched in its exported form.
- VOD and clip behavior tested, and a holding scene prepared for live use.
- Notes dated so you can repeat the check after a patch, regional release, policy change, or format change.
How to make the final decision
Publish only when all four gates are clear: the destination allows the exact title and planned content; the rating and labels accurately describe it; the publisher permits your format and timing; and the audio and other assets are authorized or removed. If any gate is unresolved, narrow the footage, disable the uncertain element, obtain written clarification, or select another game. A purchase receipt, a rating badge, a warning label, or another creator’s stream cannot substitute for those checks.
