You can’t confirm that your PC will run Squadron 42 yet: the game is still in development, is not available to install, and RSI has not published a dedicated PC specification for it. You can inventory your hardware and compare it with RSI’s current Star Citizen requirements as a rough reference—but that is not a Squadron 42 compatibility test or performance guarantee.
Why there is no definitive PC check yet
RSI’s Get Started: Checklist, updated April 16, 2026, says the single-player campaign is still in development and not yet available. RSI’s download guidance, updated February 4, 2026, likewise says it is not available for download; download will follow completion, testing, and release.

RSI’s current published system-requirements table is for Star Citizen, not Squadron 42. The official sources do not establish what minimum or recommended PC specifications will apply to the campaign at release. So there is no official compatibility checker, install test, or confirmed Squadron 42 spec list to use today.
Inventory your PC before comparing
Record the exact model and capacity for each part below. On Windows, you can find basic details in Settings > System > About for Windows edition and system memory, and in Task Manager > Performance for CPU, memory, and GPU. Check the graphics card’s dedicated memory (VRAM), not only shared system memory. In File Explorer, open This PC to check free space; confirm that the available capacity is on an SSD.

Use Star Citizen’s requirements only as a rough reference
The following figures come from RSI’s Star Citizen Minimum System Requirements page, updated September 23, 2026. They describe Star Citizen, not Squadron 42. RSI says the requirements may change during development.
| Component | Star Citizen minimum | Star Citizen recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 (latest service pack), 64-bit | Windows 10 (latest service pack) or Windows 11 |
| CPU | Quad-core Intel i7 (Haswell or later) or AMD Excavator or later; AVX, AVX2, and FMA3 support | Quad/eight-core Intel i7 (Haswell or later) or AMD Ryzen 5 or later |
| GPU | DirectX 11.1-compatible GPU with 4 GB VRAM; driver support for Direct3D 11.1 and Vulkan 1.2 | DirectX 12-compatible GPU with 8 GB VRAM |
| Memory | 16 GB | 32 GB DDR4 |
| Storage | 150+ GB SSD required | 150+ GB SSD required |
RSI lists Nvidia 1060, AMD RX 5700, RX Vega 56, RX 460, Intel A380, and UHD Graphics 730 as examples of minimum-spec graphics cards for Star Citizen. These examples are not a complete compatibility list and do not establish support for Squadron 42.

How to interpret the comparison
Compare your PC against each category rather than assigning it a single pass/fail score. A model name alone may not answer whether the CPU has the listed instruction support, whether the GPU and driver meet the API requirements, or whether the required SSD space is available.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- If a part falls below the Star Citizen minimum, that is a reason for caution about using this comparison as a reference—not proof that Squadron 42 will fail to run.
- If your PC meets or exceeds the Star Citizen recommended column, that still does not confirm Squadron 42 compatibility, frame rate, or stability.
- Do not choose an upgrade based on one component alone. The reference includes the operating system, CPU features, graphics and VRAM, system memory, and SSD capacity, and RSI warns that requirements can change.
