Your PlayStation Store wallet balance and your purchase history are separate account views. To see available funds, open the wallet or payment view for your device. To confirm a purchase, investigate a charge, or review an order, open Transaction History instead. The menu path differs on the web, PS5, PS4, and the PlayStation App.
You do not need a gift card or any other product just to view either screen. Sign in to the PlayStation account whose information you want to check, then follow the instructions for your platform below.

Balance and transaction history are different views
A wallet balance answers “How much money is available to spend?” Transaction History answers “What was charged to this account, and when?” Checking one does not automatically open the other.
| What you need to know | Wallet balance | Transaction History |
|---|---|---|
| Primary use | See the funds currently shown in the account wallet | Review purchases, subscriptions, services, and other account charges |
| Where it appears | Payment or wallet-related menu | Transaction History menu |
| Can you open details? | The balance is a total, not a purchase record | Select an individual transaction to open its details |
| Useful for an unfamiliar charge? | No; use the history record | Yes; Sony says the history can help confirm whether a purchase succeeded or identify an unfamiliar charge |
The instructions below use the current labels in Sony’s support guidance. A console or app update can change the visual layout, but the relevant menu names should remain recognizable.

Check your PlayStation Store wallet balance
On the PlayStation Store website
- Sign in to the PlayStation Store with the account you want to check.
- Select your profile icon.
- Choose Payment Management.
- Read the balance shown at the top of the screen.
This is the quickest option when you are already using a browser. It shows the wallet associated with the signed-in account; signing in to a different account will show that account’s balance instead.
Use Sony’s wallet instructions if you need the original navigation reference: PlayStation Store wallet balance and funding support.
On PS5
- Open PlayStation Store from the PS5 home screen.
- Press the Triangle button to open the additional controls.
- Select the … (More) menu.
- Look to the right of the profile icon. The wallet balance appears there.
Make sure the profile currently active on the console is the account whose wallet you intend to inspect. The balance is displayed in the Store interface rather than in the general console settings.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

- Open Settings.
- Go to Account Management, then Account Information.
- Select Wallet and sign in if prompted.
- Choose Add Funds. The wallet balance appears at the top right.
Selecting Add Funds here does not mean you must add money. It is the screen Sony uses to display the current wallet total before any funding action.
Rank #2
- Redeem for anything on PlayStationStore: games, add-ons, PlayStationPlus and more.

- Use gift card funds to contribute towards PlayStationPlus memberships.
In the PlayStation App
- Open the PlayStation Store section by selecting its Store icon.
- Open the Store menu.
- Select Payment Methods.
- Read the balance at the top of the screen.
If the app opens a different account than expected, check the signed-in profile before interpreting the amount. The app’s Payment Methods page is the balance location; Transaction History is a separate menu described next.
Check PlayStation Store transaction history
On the web through Account Management
- Sign in to Account Management.
- Select Transaction History.
- Choose the date range you want to inspect.
- Select a transaction to open its details.
Sony’s online view shows the past two years by default. That is the default display range, not a stated maximum retention period. If the purchase is older or you are looking for a particular date, use the date-range controls rather than assuming the default view covers every record.
The transaction-detail screen may also show a Request Refund option. Its presence is a way to begin the applicable request flow; it is not a promise that a refund will be approved.

On PS5
- Open Settings.
- Select Users and Accounts.
- Choose Account.
- Open Payment and Subscriptions.
- Select Transaction History.
- Choose the account, select a date range, and select a transaction to see its details.
On PS5, only the family manager can view family members’ transaction histories. If you are signed in as another family member, the history for another account may not be available even when that account uses the same console.
On PS4
- Open Settings.
- Go to Account Management, then Account Information.
- Select Wallet, then Transaction History.
- Use the QR code shown on the console to open and view the history.
The QR code transfers you to the account-history view for review. Follow the date and transaction controls on the page that opens, and verify that the account shown is the one you intended to check.
In the PlayStation App
- Open PlayStation Store.
- Open the Store menu.
- Select Transaction History.
- Choose a date range.
- Select a transaction to view its details.
The app places both Payment Methods and Transaction History under the Store area, but they remain separate destinations: Payment Methods shows the wallet amount, while Transaction History lists account activity.

How to use a transaction record
A history entry is more useful than a balance when you are checking whether an order went through or tracing a charge. Open the individual record rather than relying only on the total wallet amount. The detail view is where you can inspect the transaction and, where Sony offers it for that record, start a refund request.
Rank #4
- Redeem for anything on PlayStationStore: games, add-ons, PlayStationPlus and more.
- Everything you want to play. Choose from the largest library of PlayStation content.
- Use gift card funds to contribute towards PlayStationPlus memberships.
Sony describes transaction-history lookup as useful for determining whether a PlayStation Store purchase was successful or finding the cause of an unfamiliar charge. That record can establish what the account was charged for; it does not, by itself, establish who used the account or guarantee that a refund is available.
If a purchase seems missing
- Confirm that you are signed in to the account that made the purchase.
- Check a date range that includes the purchase date instead of relying only on the online two-year default view.
- Open the individual transaction to inspect its details.
- Compare the transaction record with the wallet amount you expected; a balance alone cannot identify a particular order.
If you see an unfamiliar charge
- Open Transaction History using the platform steps above.
- Choose a date range covering the date of the charge.
- Select the unfamiliar transaction and read its details.
- If you still do not recognize it, use the unauthorized-transaction support route linked from Sony’s transaction-history guidance. Do not assume that seeing the entry proves which person made the purchase.
Do not delete, overlook, or explain away an unfamiliar entry by checking only the wallet total. The history record is the relevant place to identify the item and follow Sony’s next-step support options.
Family and child-account limits
Family-manager access on PS5
The PS5 history path allows the family manager to select an account and view family members’ transaction history. Sony specifically limits this family-history access to the family manager. A standard family member should not expect to open another member’s records from the same console.

Child accounts and wallets
Sony’s wallet guidance says that a child account does not have its own wallet. Do not treat a child profile as an independent wallet that can be topped up directly. If you are managing spending for a child, check the relevant family-manager account and the account controls Sony provides rather than looking for a separate child-wallet balance.
Best Value
- Redeem for anything on PlayStationStore: games, add-ons, PlayStationPlus and more.
- Everything you want to play. Choose from the largest library of PlayStation content.
- Use gift card funds to contribute towards PlayStationPlus memberships.
Wallet funding is optional
PlayStation Store gift cards can be used to add funds to a PlayStation wallet, but a gift card is not required to check the balance or transaction history. Viewing either account screen is an information task: sign in and open the appropriate menu.
If you do add funds, return to the wallet or Payment Methods view to see the updated total, and use Transaction History when you need to verify the funding transaction itself. Do not confuse a gift-card redemption or top-up record with the balance display; one is an activity entry and the other is the current total.
Troubleshooting when the amount or history is not visible
The balance is missing
- Check that you opened the wallet or Payment Management view, not Transaction History.
- Verify the signed-in profile, especially on a shared console or in the app.
- On PS4, complete the sign-in prompt after selecting Wallet before looking for the amount.
- On PS5, open PlayStation Store and use Triangle followed by the More menu; the balance is shown beside the profile icon.
- In the app, use Store > menu > Payment Methods rather than the separate Transaction History option.
A transaction does not appear
- Use the date-range selector. The online history starts with the past two years as its default view, which is not described by Sony as the maximum available period.
- Confirm that the account selected on the console or signed in through the browser or app is the purchaser’s account.
- On PS5, check whether you are the family manager if you are trying to view another family member’s history.
- Open the record’s details when you find it; the detail page contains more information than the list row.
The history shows a charge you cannot explain
Start with the transaction details and then use Sony’s unauthorized-transaction support path if the entry remains unrecognized. Transaction History helps identify the charge, but it is not evidence of the individual who used the account and should not be treated as an automatic refund decision.

Which method should you use?
- Use the website when you want the broadest account-management view or need to select a date range and inspect details on a larger screen.
- Use PS5 when the console is in front of you; the wallet appears directly in PlayStation Store, while history is under Settings and Payment and Subscriptions.
- Use PS4 when you need the legacy console path; the balance is under Wallet and the history opens through a QR code.
- Use the PlayStation App when you are away from the console and want either Payment Methods for the balance or Transaction History for a purchase record.
Regardless of platform, choose Payment Management, Wallet, or Payment Methods for the amount of money available, and choose Transaction History for individual purchases and charges. Sony’s official references are the wallet and funding guide and the transaction-history guide.
