The right way to pay for an online game in Latin America depends on your country and the game store’s checkout—not on a single regional menu. Compare the methods the store actually offers by final price, processing time, subscription support and account-region compatibility. Local options may include bank transfers, digital wallets, cards and cash vouchers, but availability varies by merchant and country.
Which payment method works in your country?
Start at the checkout for the specific game, top-up or platform funds you want to buy. A payment method listed by one provider is not automatically accepted by every game store. Mercado Pago’s developer documentation, for example, lists methods by country across Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay; its list describes that provider’s options, not a universal Latin American menu. Local options documented by Mercado Pago include Pix in Brazil, PSE in Colombia, CLABE/SPEI in Mexico and Yape in Peru. Cash or payment-slip examples include Boleto in Brazil, Efecty in Colombia, OXXO and PayCash in Mexico, and Pago Fácil/Rapipago in Argentina. Card brands and prepaid-card availability also vary by country.
Gaming-payment figures illustrate why there is no single best choice for everyone. PagSeguro’s 2023 report, drawing on 2023 market data and projections through 2026, says credit cards accounted for 47% of gaming e-commerce transactions across the report’s Top Six Markets: 28% were internationally enabled cards and 19% domestic-only cards. In that same report, cash was the preferred method for one-sixth of gamers, while bank transfers and Pix together represented 17% of gaming payments. How should you compare the methods at checkout?

| Availability | Confirm the method appears for your country in this specific store’s checkout. A provider’s country list does not prove that a particular game merchant accepts it. |
| Final amount | Compare the displayed total and any disclosed bank, wallet or currency-conversion charges. The available evidence does not establish a universal lowest-fee method or best exchange rate. |
| Processing time | A transfer or wallet flow may complete differently from a cash voucher that must be paid in person and then confirmed. Check when the game, code or funds will become available. |
| Recurring payments | If you are buying a subscription, confirm that the method supports recurring charges. Mercado Pago marks some methods as unavailable for subscriptions in its availability table. |
| Account region | Before buying a gift card or code, check that its country and region match the platform account where you intend to redeem it. |
| Disputes and refunds | Read the game store’s and payment provider’s terms for the method you choose. Processes and protections are not necessarily the same across cards, transfers, wallets and cash vouchers. |
Can you pay for online games without a credit card?
Often, if the game store offers a local transfer, wallet, cash voucher or compatible platform gift card in your country. For example, Nintendo documents digital eShop gift cards bought with Pix or Boleto Bancário in Brazil and OXXO in Mexico for players who do not have or do not want to use a credit card. The code is emailed after processing. This is a Nintendo-specific option, not evidence that other game stores accept those methods. Check Nintendo’s Latin America eShop gift-card instructions.
Brazil: Pix or Boleto for Nintendo eShop gift cards
With Pix, scan the checkout QR code in a bank app or wallet, then verify the amount and recipient before confirming. With Boleto, pay at an authorized processing location within seven days; Nintendo advises allowing two to three days for payment processing. A cash payment and later processing can mean a wait before the digital code arrives.

Mexico: OXXO for Nintendo eShop gift cards
Nintendo instructs buyers to present the OXXO voucher at an authorized location within five days. The code is emailed after processing, so check the store’s instructions and allow time for payment confirmation.
Nintendo states that these gift-card sales are final. Do not share your Nintendo Account credentials with anyone. For Pix, verify the amount and recipient in the payment flow before authorizing the transaction.

What do gaming-payment patterns say about cards and local methods?
PagSeguro’s 2023 report says that, in Brazil, Pix represented 27% of gaming sales and credit cards 58%; in Colombia, PSE represented 33% of gaming payments and credit cards 39%. These figures describe the report’s market scope and period, not a guarantee about today’s checkout options or how a particular player’s payment will be accepted.
The report also states that average authorization rates for credit-card purchases on foreign websites can be as low as 30% across the region, compared with rates that can reach 80% with local processor partnerships. Treat that as the report’s comparison, not a universal rate or promise: approval depends on the merchant, processor, card and transaction.

Why can payment options change by game or country?
Platforms and payment providers add or change local arrangements separately. On September 28, 2026, EBANX announced that NetEase Games Club would offer local payment methods and cards in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile and Peru. The announcement names Pix and Mercado Pago in Brazil, SPEI in Mexico and PagoEfectivo in Peru. That is a platform-specific announcement; actual availability can depend on the game, country and rollout status. Read EBANX’s announcement.
What should you do if a payment fails or is disputed?
First, check the store’s order status and the payment provider’s confirmation before trying again; a delay in confirmation does not by itself establish whether the purchase succeeded. If you paid by card and do not recognize or agree with a charge, Mercado Pago describes a chargeback as a customer contesting a card charge with their bank. Its process includes a notification and an evidence review, with the disputed amount held during resolution. That description concerns Mercado Pago’s card-chargeback process; it should not be assumed to apply to cash vouchers, transfers, wallets or every game merchant.
