These are different kinds of flexibility, not interchangeable versions of the same RPG. A choice-driven party campaign, an action-combat build, and a loot-focused theorycrafting system serve different preferences.
Elden Ring or Baldur’s Gate 3?
Pick Baldur’s Gate 3 if you want to direct a party, shape a character within a tabletop-inspired framework, and make decisions that influence the adventure. Larian describes its D&D world and character options; the game’s appeal, in this comparison, is role-play and choices rather than reflex-led combat.
Pick Elden Ring if you want to travel through a dangerous world, explore dungeons, and improve by learning how to handle challenging enemies and bosses. Its core appeal is action combat and exploration, not a party-centered role-play campaign.

Which dark fantasy RPG has more build flexibility?
It depends on what you mean by “build.” For party and character role-play, start with Baldur’s Gate 3: Larian highlights its D&D setting and many character options. For action-combat builds, Elden Ring is the more natural comparison. For loot-focused theorycrafting, consider Path of Exile 2; the cited PC Gamer overview described it as a fit for that interest, while reporting Early Access status as of August 31, 2026.
Diablo IV is another fit if your priority is developing and customizing a character through an action-driven progression loop. Blizzard’s feature overview supports that broad distinction, but it does not establish a current comparison of endgame or seasonal design.

What to know about the PC versions
Dragon Age: The Veilguard
EA lists PC purchase options through the EA app, Steam, and Epic Games Store. Its PC feature article identifies keyboard-and-mouse and controller support, plus NVIDIA DLSS 3, FSR 2.2 (modified for the game), and XeSS. Check EA’s current system-requirements page against your computer before buying; a complete requirements comparison across all five games is not established here.
Path of Exile 2
Early Access status is time-sensitive. PC Gamer’s August 31, 2026 overview said the game remained in Early Access then, so verify its current status and terms on the relevant storefront before deciding whether an evolving game suits you.

Elden Ring editions
Bandai Namco describes the Tarnished Edition as including the base game, Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, new armor, and a Torrent appearance customization feature. Its 2026 announcement identifies the Tarnished Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 and the Tarnished Pack for PC via Steam and console platforms. Check the exact PC listing: the Switch 2 edition and PC pack are not the same product.
Prices and physical editions
EA’s 2024 launch announcement gave The Veilguard a suggested U.S. PC price of $59.99, a historical launch figure rather than a current quote. It also announced the Rook’s Coffer physical keepsake collection at a suggested $150, with the game not included; both figures are historical and should not be treated as today’s prices.

Larian’s official store lists a Baldur’s Gate 3 PC Deluxe Edition and says it includes a game disc. That establishes an official physical PC-game product path, but not current availability at any particular retailer. Confirm what a live listing includes before purchase.
