The correct way to clear Roblox cache on Windows 11 depends on which Roblox app you installed. For the traditional desktop client, close Roblox and delete %localappdata%RobloxCache. For the Microsoft Store app named Roblox – Windows, use Windows 11’s Repair or Reset options.
First, identify your Roblox installation
Windows 11 can have either the traditional desktop client or the newer Microsoft Store app. Open Start and check the app name:

- Roblox – Windows: the newer Microsoft Store version, shown with a blue icon.
- Roblox: the traditional desktop version, shown with a light-gray icon.
Roblox says the newer Roblox – Windows app replaces the older Store version, which will eventually stop working.

- Close Roblox and Roblox Studio completely.
- Press Windows+R.
- Enter
%localappdata%Robloxand press Enter. - Delete the folder named Cache.
- Start Roblox again.
This is Roblox’s current general desktop-client cache-clearing location, documented in its guidance for library-loading errors. Roblox will recreate required files when it starts.

If the Cache folder is missing
Do not randomly delete folders inside Versions or logs. The logs folder contains diagnostic files, while Versions<version>content contains installed Roblox content. If Cache is not present, use the complete cleanup method below or reset the Store app if you have Roblox – Windows.
Perform a complete desktop-client cleanup
Use this when deleting only the cache does not fix launch failures, corrupted files, or persistent update problems. Save anything important first: deleting the full Roblox folder can remove local Studio recovery files and logs.
Using File Explorer
- Close Roblox and Roblox Studio.
- Press Windows+R.
- Enter
%localappdata%and press Enter. - Delete the folder named Roblox.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall Roblox.
Roblox recommends removing C:Users<Your Windows Username>AppDataLocalRoblox after uninstalling when a problem persists. Your Roblox account progress, Robux, friends, and inventory are account-linked; deleting local files does not delete them. You may need to sign in again. See Roblox’s uninstall guidance.

Using Command Prompt
For a clean reinstall on Windows 11, Roblox documents this sequence for 64-bit systems:
- Uninstall Roblox.
- Press Windows+R, type
CMD, and press Enter. - Run
cd AppDataLocal. - Run
rmdir /s Roblox. - Type
ywhen prompted, then press Enter. - Restart the PC and reinstall Roblox.
A direct equivalent that works regardless of Command Prompt’s current folder is:
rmdir /s "%LOCALAPPDATA%Roblox"To suppress the confirmation prompt, add /q:
rmdir /s /q "%LOCALAPPDATA%Roblox"Use /q carefully. It removes the directory tree without asking for confirmation. Microsoft’s rmdir documentation explains these switches.

Reset the Microsoft Store version
Use this method for Roblox – Windows.
- Open Start > Settings.
- Select Apps > Installed apps.
- Find Roblox – Windows.
- Select the three-dot More button beside it.
- Select Advanced options.
- Select Repair first.
- If the problem remains, select Reset and confirm.
Repair attempts to fix the app without removing its data. Reset removes the app’s stored data and returns it to its default state, so you may lose local preferences or sign-in details and need to log in again. Microsoft describes these controls in its Windows app repair instructions.

If Roblox – Windows is not listed, you may be using the traditional desktop installation. Traditional desktop programs do not always provide the Store app’s Advanced options, Repair, and Reset controls.
When to use wsreset.exe
wsreset.exe clears the Microsoft Store cache, not Roblox’s own local game files. Use it when the Microsoft Store cannot download, update, or install Roblox – Windows:

- Press Windows+R.
- Enter
wsreset.exe. - Select OK.
It is not a replacement for deleting %localappdata%RobloxCache or resetting the Roblox Store app. Microsoft documents the command in its Store-cache troubleshooting guidance.
Protect Studio recovery files and logs
Before deleting the entire Roblox folder, preserve files you may need:

If Roblox Support requested logs, copy them somewhere safe before clearing the installation. See Roblox’s log-retrieval instructions.

For a problem specifically affecting Toolbox or another Studio web view, Roblox separately recommends deleting %localappdata%RobloxRobloxStudioWebView2. Studio recreates that folder; it is not the general Player-cache procedure. Details are available in the Toolbox documentation.
What to do when Windows will not delete the files
Roblox is still running
Close Roblox and Roblox Studio, including any visible windows. If deletion still fails, restart Windows and try again. A running process can keep files locked.
Command Prompt says the directory is in use
Do not run the deletion command while Command Prompt is inside the Roblox folder. Move to another directory first:
cd /d "%USERPROFILE%"
rmdir /s "%LOCALAPPDATA%Roblox"Windows cannot remove a directory that is currently being used as the Command Prompt location. Antivirus software or Windows Search can also briefly lock individual files; restarting and retrying usually releases them.
What clearing Roblox cache can—and cannot—fix
Cache clearing is appropriate for stale or corrupted local files, some launch failures, and asset-loading problems. It does not inherently fix server latency, high ping, an unstable internet connection, graphics-driver problems, or hardware-related low frame rates. Roblox treats network and version problems as separate troubleshooting categories in its error and update guidance.
