To complete A Lady Never Tells in Avowed, speak with the Concerned Courtesan near the Mermaid’s Den in Dawnshore’s Pearl District, talk to Giuliana inside, retrieve her shipment from the Sparrowhawks’ dockside warehouse, then bring it back to her. You can deal with Jago and his crew with combat, negotiation, or an alternate entrance.
Start the quest at the Mermaid’s Den
- In Dawnshore’s Pearl District, find the Concerned Courtesan near the Mermaid’s Den and speak with her. The dialogue choice here does not prevent the quest from starting, according to Game8’s walkthrough.
- Go inside and speak with Giuliana, the bathhouse owner. She explains that the Sparrowhawks have her shipment.
Get past Jago and enter the warehouse
Find the Sparrowhawks’ warehouse by the docks. Jago the Sea Wolf and his crew guard it, but fighting them is not the only way in. Gamer Guides’ walkthrough describes three practical approaches:

- Fight: Take on Jago and his crew to resolve the guard encounter by combat.
- Negotiate: Speak with Jago and seek the key through dialogue.
- Use an alternate entrance: Bypass the group; one described stealth route is a hole behind the warehouse.
These are route alternatives, not a ranking: choose based on whether you want to fight, try dialogue, or avoid the guards.

Decide what to say about the contents
The return conversation concerns the shipment’s sensitive nature. The walkthroughs describe the option to keep what you know private or raise the contents with Giuliana. Gamer Guides also reports background-sensitive dialogue for an Arcane Scholar and a possible report to Hylgard, but the available guide details do not establish every consequence as guaranteed. Treat those outcomes as reported possibilities rather than fixed results for every character.

Game8 lists the reward as Night-Mistress’ Favor and 300 coins; Gamer Guides describes Night-Mistress’ Favor as a unique trinket. These details come from secondary walkthroughs, rather than an official item database.

If the quest log fails to mark the quest complete after you start with the courtesan, collect the shipment, and speak to Giuliana, Obsidian documented a fix in its Patch 1.2.2 notes, dated February 18, 2025: “Updated A Lady Never Tells quest flow so it correctly completes in the quest log when starting via the courtesan, getting the shipment, then speaking to Giuliana.”
