To complete The Chosen Path, reach Act III, unlock Esquie’s Flight, then fly to the floating island north of Frozen Hearts and The Carousel. In the area, clear all five golden canvases in solo fights, using a different character for each. This opens the gold door at the top of the stairs, where you can collect the Base Shield Lumina. This optional-area guide contains opponent and reward spoilers, but not main-story ending details.
How to reach The Chosen Path
- Progress to Act III and unlock Esquie’s Flight.
- Fly to the floating island north of Frozen Hearts and The Carousel.
- Enter The Chosen Path and activate the Expedition Flag near the entrance before approaching the challenges.
The area is an optional location in the Continent’s overworld. The landmark route is more useful than searching for it by map position alone. Neoseeker’s walkthrough and Game8’s guide both describe access after unlocking flight in Act III.

How the five canvas challenges work
There are five golden canvases: two to the left and three to the right of the entrance. Interact with one and choose a party member to fight alone. Once that character completes a canvas, they cannot be selected for the other challenges. The opponents are familiar enemy encounters with stronger stats or more health than their ordinary versions.

The weapon notes identify listed upgrades, not required equipment for completing a fight. The available guides do not establish a required level or a universally best character assignment. Choose five characters you are comfortable using in solo combat, taking your available builds into account, and decide who takes each canvas before committing. Defeat all five canvas opponents. The gold door at the top of the stairs then opens; the room beyond contains Base Shield, a Lumina. An unofficial fan reference lists its effect as “+1 Shield if not affected by any Shield on turn start,” with a cost of 20 and Speed and Critical Rate as passive bonuses. A separate reference result also associates one Grandiose Chroma Catalyst with each of the Stalact and Contorsionniste encounters, but the detailed walkthrough available for the area does not confirm those drops. Treat them as unconfirmed unless you verify them in-game.
