The fastest, safest way to complete an FC Ultimate Team Player Pick SBC is to read the live challenge first, identify whether it uses the newer Item Score format or a traditional squad puzzle, spend eligible items already in your Club or SBC Storage, and verify every item before the irreversible submission. Requirements, rewards, repeatability and expiry vary by challenge, so the game’s current SBC screen is the authority.
Start with the live Player Pick SBC, not a guessed solution
Open the exact Player Pick Squad Building Challenge you intend to complete and read the entire panel before moving any player items. The title alone does not tell you the rating target, chemistry requirement, eligible item types, reward, number of submissions, or end time. Those values belong to the individual challenge and can change after an update.

Record four details in a note or screenshot:
- Reward: confirm exactly what the completed SBC grants and whether it is a Player Pick, pack, player item or another reward.
- Expiry: note the displayed date and time in your local game interface. A limited-time SBC should be completed before that deadline; partial progress is not a substitute for the main reward.
- Repeatability: check whether the challenge can be completed once, a stated number of times, or repeatedly while it is available.
- Requirements: capture every listed condition, including Item Score, overall rating, chemistry, quality, league, nation, club, position or any minimum-rating rule.
Electronic Arts documents both simplified SBCs and traditional puzzle SBCs in its FC 27 guidance. A Player Pick may use either format. Never apply a solution designed for one format to the other.

Identify which SBC format you are looking at
| Format | What the screen asks for | How to build efficiently | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Simplified SBC | A required Item Score and a pool of eligible player items. The interface shows each item’s contribution and the score remaining. | Use the lowest-value eligible items that reach the target, beginning with duplicates and expendable stock. | Each item’s score, the remaining amount, eligible-item rules, and whether staged submissions are allowed. |
| Traditional puzzle SBC | A squad that satisfies listed conditions such as rating, chemistry, quality, league, nation, club or minimum ratings. | Build around the most restrictive condition, then fill the remaining positions with inexpensive Club items that satisfy all requirements together. | Every condition at the same time, not merely the overall squad rating or chemistry. |
In FC 27’s streamlined system, Item Score reflects an item’s overall rating and rarity. EA describes thresholds and minimum ratings as possible examples, not universal rules for every SBC. Treat the values displayed in your challenge as the only values that matter.

Inventory first: use the Club and SBC Storage before shopping
EA’s FC 26 and FC 27 guidance recommends checking eligible items already in your Club before acquiring anything from the Transfer Market. Open the player-selection view and filter for the exact item types accepted by the challenge. Also inspect SBC Storage if your version of Ultimate Team exposes that location; duplicate items stored there can be useful without consuming tradeable cards first.
Sort your inventory into three groups before placing anything into a submission:
- Expendable duplicates: duplicate items, low-priority players and cards you would not use in another squad.
- Useful assets: players that fit another active SBC, your main squad, a league or nation objective, or a future upgrade.
- Protected items: high-rated starters, evolution candidates, club favorites and anything with sentimental or strategic value.
Start with the expendable group. Keeping a short list of items you plan to use prevents accidentally selecting a starter when the interface is crowded with similar cards. In a traditional puzzle, inspect the complete squad after placing each group; an item can meet one condition while making another fail.

Efficient method for a simplified Item Score SBC
1. Read the target and eligible-item rules
Look for the required Item Score, the accepted item categories and any minimum rating or rarity condition. The progress display tells you how much score remains after each selection. Do not infer a target from another Player Pick SBC.
2. Compare contribution before selecting
Select an expendable candidate and check the contribution shown by the interface. If the card supplies more score than you need, remove it and test a lower-value eligible item when possible. Overpaying with a valuable high-rated card does not improve the reward once the full target is reached.

3. Use duplicates deliberately
EA’s FC 27 help information says duplicate eligible items can be submitted in simplified SBCs. This is especially useful when duplicates are blocking pack openings or occupying storage. Confirm that the duplicate is eligible and that submitting it is preferable to keeping it for another challenge.
4. Stop at the target
When the progress bar reaches the required score, stop adding cards. The interface’s contribution and remaining-progress indicators are designed to prevent unnecessary submissions. A higher total does not create a better Player Pick unless the live challenge explicitly says so.

Simplified SBC progress can carry across submissions and sessions. Staging can help when you have several duplicates but want to manage storage, or when you are waiting to decide which eligible items are expendable. Track the remaining score after every submission. Submitted items do not return if you later abandon the challenge, so staging is a convenience—not a reversible test.
Efficient method for a traditional puzzle SBC
Build around the hardest requirement
Identify the condition that gives you the fewest options. It may be a minimum rating, chemistry level, a specific league, a nation, a club, a quality category or a combination. Place items that satisfy that bottleneck first, then fill the remaining positions with cards that preserve every requirement.
Check the whole squad, not isolated cards
A player’s league or nation may help chemistry while another player’s club or position breaks it. The final squad must satisfy all displayed conditions simultaneously. Use the on-screen validation indicators after each meaningful change and again immediately before submission.

Protect flexible high-value items
Do not use a strong player merely because the squad rating is short if a lower-priority item can supply the same result. A high-rated card may be more valuable in a later rating-gated SBC or in your active team. If the challenge requires a particular rating, use the least strategically important card that reaches it.
Do not assume a familiar template still works
Traditional puzzle rules can differ from one challenge to the next. A solution that worked for a previous Player Pick may fail when chemistry, quality, league or minimum-rating conditions change. Re-read the live panel every time.
When to buy from the Transfer Market
Only consider buying after checking the Club, SBC Storage and the live requirements again. EA’s FC 26 guidance places the Transfer Market after the inventory check. The cited official material does not establish current listing prices, regional prices or a fixed coin cost for any Player Pick SBC, so do not budget from a generic online estimate.
If you do need an item, define the missing requirement first:
- For a simplified SBC, identify the exact score still required and the eligible item category that can supply it.
- For a traditional SBC, identify the failed condition—such as rating, chemistry, league, nation, club or quality—before searching.
- Buy only enough to satisfy the displayed requirement. Extra cards increase your spend without improving a completed reward.
Recheck the challenge after acquiring an item. A requirement, reward or expiry can change while you are managing the club, and a purchased card may not be eligible for the version currently on screen.

Make the final submission safely
EA’s official help page is explicit: “SBC submissions are final.” Submitted player items are permanently removed, and advisors cannot restore them. Treat the confirmation screen as a one-way transaction.
- Open the squad or eligible-item list and inspect every selected card individually.
- Remove anything that is a starter, an evolution candidate, a card reserved for another SBC, or otherwise important to you.
- Confirm that the displayed score or every traditional requirement is complete.
- Read the reward name and compare it with the reward you noted when opening the challenge.
- Check the expiry and repeatability one more time, especially if you have been working through multiple screens.
- Confirm the submission only after the selected list is intentional.
Do not treat a warning about excess score, surplus rating or an unusual item as a harmless prompt. It is an opportunity to stop and replace the card before the items disappear.
How partial progress and expiry work
For simplified SBCs, EA says progress can be saved across submissions and sessions. That lets you leave and return later while retaining the score already earned. It does not preserve the submitted items. A card used in an early contribution remains gone even if you never finish the challenge.
EA’s help information also describes possible partial, untradeable rewards when a simplified SBC expires before completion. Those partial rewards are not equivalent to the full reward shown for meeting the complete requirement. Read the live challenge for the exact outcome; do not submit valuable items on the assumption that an incomplete SBC will produce the advertised Player Pick.

Using the Companion App
The official EA Companion App is an optional way to manage the club. EA says it supports SBC completion and Transfer Market access on Android and iOS mobile devices and tablets. It is useful when you want to sort duplicates, check storage or assemble a squad away from the console or PC; it is not required to complete an SBC.
Before confirming in the app, use the same safeguards as in-game: verify the current reward, expiry, requirements and selected items. Mobile screens can make similarly named cards easy to confuse, so open the item details when two versions look alike. If a requirement or progress value appears different from the console view, stop and use the live challenge display as the deciding reference.
Player Pick probabilities: what you can and cannot conclude
EA’s probabilities article, dated August 20, 2026, says probabilities are displayed for packs and player picks obtained with FC Points and directs players to the Store’s “Show Pack Probabilities” control for packs available for FC Points. That statement does not establish odds for every SBC reward.

Common failure cases and the quickest fix
| Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The score is still below target after adding a card. | The item is eligible but contributes less than expected, or another requirement limits it. | Read the contribution value shown beside the item, then add another expendable eligible card or replace the candidate. |
| The squad looks strong but the traditional SBC is not complete. | One condition—chemistry, quality, league, nation, club, position or minimum rating—still fails. | Inspect each failed indicator and change the most restrictive part first; overall rating alone is insufficient. |
| A duplicate cannot be selected. | The item type is not eligible for this SBC, or the duplicate is stored somewhere outside the current selection view. | Recheck eligible-item rules and inspect both Club and SBC Storage. |
| You cannot find the reward you expected. | The live challenge differs from a previous Player Pick or has already expired. | Open the challenge details and read the current reward and expiry instead of relying on a remembered version. |
| You submitted items but the challenge is unfinished. | Partial progress was saved, but the full requirement was not met. | Check the remaining score or failed condition and decide whether finishing before expiry is worth the additional items. Earlier submissions cannot be reversed. |
| The Companion App does not show the same workflow. | The app and game may present controls differently, or the challenge state has changed. | Refresh the challenge, compare the live requirements, and complete the final review in the interface showing the current state. |
FC 26 and FC 27: keep the version straight
EA’s help material discusses FC 26 and FC 27 separately. FC 27’s documented system includes simplified Item Score SBCs while retaining traditional puzzle SBCs. EA’s FC 27 FUT Deep Dive describes the streamlined format as intended for most Player and Upgrade SBCs, with traditional SBCs continuing for more puzzle-like challenges.
EA lists September 18, 2026 as FC 27’s launch date. This guide therefore applies most directly to the FC 27 interface described by EA, while the inventory-first and final-review principles also align with its FC 26 guidance. Updates can alter labels, eligibility, targets and reward behavior, so use the version and live challenge screen in your account rather than an old solution video.
A reusable five-minute checklist
- Open the exact Player Pick SBC and note reward, expiry, repeatability and all requirements.
- Determine whether it is a simplified Item Score challenge or a traditional puzzle.
- Filter the Club and SBC Storage for eligible, expendable items.
- For Item Score, compare each contribution and stop at the displayed target.
- For a puzzle, satisfy every rating, chemistry, quality, league, nation, club and position condition together.
- Keep starters, favorites and future SBC assets out unless you intentionally accept losing them.
- Buy from the Transfer Market only after identifying the precise remaining requirement.
- Review every selected item, the reward and the expiry immediately before confirming.
Bottom line
An efficient Player Pick SBC is not a race to copy a squad or spend coins. It is a controlled inventory decision: read the live rules, use expendable eligible items, track the exact score or failed condition, and submit only after a deliberate final review. The challenge’s own interface determines the current reward, cost, repeatability and deadline; everything else is only a general method.
