Tenets of Depravity is a four-quest chain in Nahantu. To start it, speak with a guard in Kurast Bazaar or Kurast Docks. This questline requires Diablo IV and the Vessel of Hatred expansion; Blizzard says access to the Vessel campaign requires purchasing the expansion (Vessel of Hatred; Blizzard’s launch guide).
Where to start Tenets of Depravity
Look for a guard in either Kurast Bazaar or Kurast Docks and speak with them to begin. The Bazaar guard is southeast of the waypoint, according to Wowhead’s quest guide. The chain is tied to Deeds of a Champion, a Nahantu progression whose completion eventually opens additional Nahantu Whispers.
Does Deeds of a Champion have to be finished first?
Tenets of Depravity is listed as a Deeds of a Champion requirement, but the available guides do not establish a universally reliable phase or checklist for when its starting marker appears. If you have not completed the broader progression, check its status in your quest journal; do not assume that one specific milestone is a confirmed prerequisite.
Quest names and markers can differ between guides
Independent walkthroughs give conflicting quest names and prerequisite details. The four names and route below follow ProGameTalk’s detailed walkthrough. Another guide uses different labels and broader steps (Position Is Everything). If your journal or map uses different wording, follow the active in-game objective and marker rather than trying to match a guide’s title exactly.

How to complete all four quests
1. Sacrament of the Faithless
- Travel to Faith’s Torch, the Burned Knight camp at Seven Stones, and speak with Priest Dmitriy.
- Defeat the Berserk Knight, then speak with Dmitriy again.
- Collect the Account of Captain Kharov’s Madness.
- Seek Cathedral of Light authority in Kehjistan. The walkthrough identifies Reverend Mother Prava as the person to find.
2. An End to Suffering
- Return to Faith’s Torch and inspect the knight’s corpse.
- Enter the Knight Command Quarters and investigate the screaming.
- Defeat the Burned Knights. Dmitriy is found bound and dies during this encounter; his final direction is to find Marzhan at Seared Revelation.
3. Companion to Madness
- Travel to Seared Revelation and speak with Scribe Marzhan.
- Clear the Pit encounter, defeating the Dregs, the Colossus, and the Hateful Abomination.
- Speak with Marzhan again to continue.
4. Scion of Blasphemy
- Meet Marzhan at the Temple of the Profane and enter.
- Defeat Pharus, Grigoriy, and Viktor. Collect each boss’s Condemned Trophy; the trophies open the next gate.
- Fight through the Chambers of Slaughter, then proceed to the Vault of the Demigod.
- Defeat Captain Kharov to finish the quest.
Rewards reported by guides
ProGameTalk reports experience and gold for each of the first three quests. For the final quest, it reports experience, gold, Murmuring Obols, and equipment; the guide’s own completion included magic, rare, and legendary equipment. These are guide-reported rewards, not a guarantee of fixed amounts or item rarities, and the sources do not establish an authoritative current reward table.

If the quest marker does not appear
- Check the active character’s quest journal for Deeds of a Champion progression and confirm the previous Tenets of Depravity objective is complete.
- If the chain has not started, revisit both Kurast Bazaar and Kurast Docks and look for the guard.
- Make sure side quests are visible on the map, then use the journal’s current objective and marker to navigate. Later quests are described as guiding you with markers, but the guides do not confirm every unlock trigger.
