After Leshy invites Reka to the ancient larch, complete his cone trial to earn the power to fell trees—and plant an enchanted cone for every tree you cut.
Which activities count as Leshy’s favors?
Baba Jaga tells Reka to complete three favors to attract Leshy’s attention. Barzlin is the village encountered during this part of Leshy’s trial. Talk with the Lutki and villagers to learn about the available tasks; the REKA Wiki quest page describes the following options.

The guide identifies three favors as the requirement but does not rank them by speed or difficulty. The hive is a branching quest: choose based on whether you want to pursue Leshy’s favor or return the hive for the chandelier.
How to reach the ancient larch and complete the cone trial
After Reka has gained Leshy’s attention, he marks the ancient larch as the meeting point. Wait for the invitation and follow the active map marker. The area is covered by dense fog, and going in before Leshy calls can leave Reka lost.

- Collect 20 larch cones. Use the crows to gather them from the branches of the ancient larch.
- Put the cones in the hollow. Place them in the hollow at the base of the tree to transform them into enchanted cones.
- Throw the enchanted cones in the cleared area. The quest guide says to throw about five, then return when Leshy tells Reka to stop.
- Receive the tree-felling power. Leshy grants it after the trial sequence.
The larch and cone requirements are described on the quest page; the tools reference also identifies enchanted larch cones as items used to grow replacement trees.
What Leshy requires when Reka fells trees
The power to fell trees comes with a continuing condition: plant a new tree with an enchanted cone for every tree Reka fells. Treat the cones as replacements, not as a one-time payment for unlocking the ability. The quest condition is described on the Leshy’s Trial page.

Free or leave the lumberjacks trapped?
Later in the trial, Reka finds three lumberjacks trapped in the fog. The choice changes the rewards and the responses in Barzlin; neither outcome is presented as objectively correct.

Choose according to the outcome and reward you prefer: rescuing the men brings gratitude and the Lumberjack’s Blessing, while leaving them brings Leshy’s Recognition.

If Leshy or the ancient larch seems to disappear
If the big tree vanishes or Reka becomes dizzy in the fog, check that three favors are complete and that you are following the active marker. The quest guide warns that entering the fog before Leshy’s invitation can leave Reka lost, and says Leshy marks the meeting point after the favors.
An older Upcomer guide suggests saving, exiting the game, and reloading if all quests are complete but Leshy still does not appear. That is anecdotal troubleshooting, not an established universal fix. Walkthrough sources do not confirm whether later game updates changed this behavior.

Keep the Mara shrine task separate
The Local Patron favor involves making pancakes and offering them at Mara’s forest shrine. A separate Siva shrine quest has its own offering requirements; completing or reading about that task is not a substitute for the Barzlin favors for Leshy. The shrine reference covers the separate shrine tasks.
