Chapter 8, Drowned District, has two listed side missions: “Execute the otherworldly messengers” and “Find the antiquated currency in the Drowned District.” The first is a combat detour beyond a pipe; the second is a chest hunt in the first sewer tunnel after you obtain the Pond Strider.

Mission 14: Execute the otherworldly messengers
- Descend the spiral staircase in the Drowned District.
- At the foot of the stairs, turn left instead of continuing right along the main route.
- Swing to the opening of the pipe and follow it to the end.
- Defeat the otherworldly messengers that appear there.
PCGamesN lists the reward as a Rigid Seal Case accessory. The route and reward are guide-reported; they have not been independently tested here.
Mission 15: Find the antiquated currency in the Drowned District
This route becomes available after you obtain the Pond Strider. The target is in the first sewer tunnel.

- Surf through the first sewer tunnel and look for a disco ball in the water near the tunnel’s end.
- Enter the large area near the disco ball, where two enemy spawn gates are present.
- Destroy the gate in the left corner.
- Open the chest in that corner to collect the antiquated currency.
PCGamesN lists a Black Scale as the mission reward.

PCGamesN says new missions are accepted from Umi at a DarkNest Terminal; PowerPyx advises activating available missions and delivering completed ones at terminals. The guides do not document the exact menu sequence for these two missions, so check the terminal’s available missions rather than relying on a particular button path.
The guides identify the landmarks where the objectives occur, but do not establish whether either mission can be recovered after leaving its area. If you want to complete both, check for available missions at the terminal and take the optional branches as you reach them.

How the two routes differ
- Mission 14 is a combat detour: it branches left after the spiral staircase and continues through a pipe to an enemy encounter.
- Mission 15 is an item retrieval: it requires the Pond Strider and leads through the first sewer tunnel to a gated corner and chest.
