The first branches off after the club and shops; the mineral search follows optional paths along the Pond Strider route; and the fiends are encountered beyond the first mineral along the river route.
Find and activate the Chapter 9 side missions
The three Drowned District objectives cover an assassination, a collectible search and a combat encounter. A missions guide identifies DarkNest Terminals and Umi as places to access and report missions. Check a terminal or speak with Umi to activate available missions and report completed ones.

Execute the miscreant
- Pass through the club and continue to the tunnel with the first shops.
- At the junction, take the optional path on the right rather than turning left.
- Climb the ladder and follow the hallway to the encounter area, where the miscreant appears. One guide identifies the target as Oniwaka.
Find 3 beautiful minerals in the Drowned District
The minerals sit on optional branches off the Pond Strider traversal route. Use the terrain and enemy encounters as landmarks; the paths are easy to pass if you stay on the main route.

- After crossing a large gap, look for land on the left.
- Take the optional path down from that landing and continue toward the buildings to find the first mineral.
Another guide describes this landmark as land marked by red lights, then advises jumping down and heading right. Use the landing and the buildings as your route cues.

- Defeat the enemies, then take the path behind the gate.
- Follow it to a dead end with two chests; the second mineral is there.
Third mineral: before the wind section
- Continue along the Pond Strider route past another enemy gate.
- Use the grapples to advance. Look to the left for the third mineral before the wind section.
Execute the enormous fiends
After collecting the first mineral, continue along the route toward the river. Guides place the enormous fiends at a dead end beyond that collectible; one describes reaching the area through a surf section along the river. Treat the first mineral and river route as the main landmarks, since the available route descriptions do not establish every traversal step.
