1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesTo complete “Spot the Difference” in Tanaris, identify the shapeshifter among the two Athelton Joneses, defeat Y’lliya Xennin at about /way #71 60.02 62.52, then return to Alyx near /way #71 63.0 50.2. The witness interviews and hoofprint trail can be skipped, according to the player-contributed route on Wowhead’s quest page.
How to complete Spot the Difference
- Pick up the quest. After the preceding “Warn the Detective” step, speak to either Athelton Jones near Fiona’s Caravan in Tanaris, around
/way #71 60.97 50.68. The coordinate and route are listed in Wowhead’s quest reference and the event guide at Warcraft Tavern. - Decide whether to interview the witnesses. If you want to follow the clue route, question both Athelton Jones NPCs, then talk to Addie Fizzlebog, Leeroy Jenkins, and Hemet Nesingwary Sr. The interviews are optional in Wowhead’s contributor walkthrough; you can proceed directly to identifying the suspect.
- Choose the shapeshifter. The Wowhead contributor route says the correct Athelton Jones is the one standing farther from the carriage. This is player walkthrough guidance, not an official Blizzard explanation of the clue.
- Defeat Y’lliya Xennin. Go to approximately
/way #71 60.02 62.52in Tanaris and defeat the demon. Warcraft Wiki also places the target near 60.0, 62.5, corroborating the location. - Return to Alyx. Go back to Alyx around
/way #71 63.0 50.2to turn in the quest.
Which Athelton Jones is the shapeshifter?
According to the player-contributed Wowhead walkthrough, accuse the Athelton Jones who is standing farther from the carriage. The quest dialogue has the speaking Jones ask the player to question him and says the witnesses can corroborate his identity, but the precise “farther from the carriage” clue comes from the contributor route, not a Blizzard source.
Where is Y’lliya Xennin, and do you need to follow hoofprints?
Y’lliya Xennin is near /way #71 60.02 62.52 in Tanaris; Warcraft Wiki’s approximate coordinates are 60.0, 62.5. The Idol of Ohn’ahra can be used to follow hoofprints, but contributors report that its direction may be confusing or inconsistent. Going straight to the waypoint is a practical alternative.
Quest availability and rewards
The available quest references describe the steps and list Timewarped Badges and Bronze Celebration Tokens among the rewards, but format the rewards differently. Check the live quest in your game for the actual quantities. The references do not establish whether the quest is currently available on every realm or game version, so confirm with the quest giver in game rather than assuming it is active everywhere.
