“Tat Big Meanie” is a clue-finding quest from World of Warcraft’s 20th Anniversary Guest Relations event. Search for the Historic Tales notice and Red Hair near the medical tent, speak with Ratts at the Story Time stage, then find the Strange Torch behind the Fashion Frenzy stage and return to Maru. The quest uses the Idol of Ohn’ahra to help locate clues. Its availability today is not confirmed: Blizzard’s announced event ran from October 22, 2024, through January 6, 2025.
Before you start: event availability
The quest is part of the limited-time 20th Anniversary Guest Relations storyline. Blizzard announced the celebration for October 22, 2024, through January 6, 2025, and described Guest Relations as an activity built around finding secrets. That historical event window does not establish that “Tat Big Meanie” is currently obtainable or has returned. If Maru does not offer it, check whether the content is active in your game version and region; a 2026 rerun or permanent availability is not confirmed. Blizzard’s event announcement gives the original schedule.

How to complete “Tat Big Meanie”
Accept the quest from Maru in the Guest Relations celebration area in Tanaris. Guides place Maru near Leeroy’s chicken stand at approximately 63.2, 52.3. Once accepted, the Idol of Ohn’ahra appears as an extra-action button and serves as a clue-finding aid. The coordinates below are approximate; nearby object placement can differ slightly from guide to guide.
- Find the Historic Tales notice. Look on a tent post near the medical or infirmary tent, around 62.0, 51.5.
- Find Red Hair. Search the ground behind or beside that same tent, around 62.1, 51.8.
- Question Ratts. Go to the Storyteller or Story Time stage at about 64.0, 51.7. The conversation concerns Maru’s brother’s sleuthing tool; Ratts points you toward the Fashion Frenzy area.
- Find the Strange Torch. Check the rock behind the Fashion Frenzy stage, near an outhouse, around 63.6, 48.0. Maru’s optional hint also points you behind the stage.
- Return to Maru. Speak with Maru again after interacting with the clues to complete the quest.
The in-game objective describes using the Idol of Ohn’ahra to search for clues near the outhouses. Activate it if a clue is difficult to spot, then inspect the post, ground, NPC, or stage-side rock around the approximate coordinates. The available quest references do not establish that the clues must be completed in a fixed order.

Quest rewards
The Warcraft Wiki quest reference lists five Timewarped Badges after patch 11.2.5, dated October 7, 2025. It also lists the Idol of Ohn’ahra if your character has not already acquired it. Earlier reward information may differ: the quest page records a patch change, so older mentions of a Bronze Celebration Token should not be treated as the current reward. See the quest’s reward and patch-history entry for the recorded update.

- Maru does not offer the quest: The original event ended on January 6, 2025. Current availability is not verified, so confirm that Guest Relations content is active for your version and region before troubleshooting the quest itself.
- A clue is hard to see: Activate the Idol and search the nearby area using the coordinates as a starting point. Check the physical object or NPC rather than relying only on a map marker; descriptions of exact placement vary slightly between guides.
- The last clue is not obvious: Search behind the Fashion Frenzy stage, by the nearby outhouse, rather than on the stage itself.
