The resulting automaton is Techtite. Automatons can attack and stun enemies, according to Nintendo’s game page.
Unlock the Automaton Engineer quest
Complete the main quest “Still Missing” first. Nintendo Life places that quest after the Hyrule Castle Dungeon and its boss. Once “Still Missing” is complete, Dampé can appear north of Hyrule Ranch.

Meet Dampé north of Hyrule Ranch
- Travel to the area north of Hyrule Ranch.
- Find Dampé being bothered by a crow and defeat the crow.
- After Dampé thanks Zelda, he marks his studio on your map. This first meeting is separate from the studio visit where you make the automaton.
Reach Dampé’s studio in Eastern Hyrule Field
The studio is east of Hyrule Castle Town and below Hebra Mountain. From the nearby route, head northeast past the boulder field, continue north toward a Moblin camp, then go east and follow the grassy area around to the studio. Bring Dampé the two inspirations for Techtite
At the studio, Dampé describes the needed inspirations with two clues: a “creature with the big eye–the sort that’s always jumping around” and “something that shoots hot smoke out of its backside to blast forward.” These refer to Tektite and Mothula. A level 2 version of either monster can also be used.

Find a Tektite
Choose whichever route suits your progress: Tektites are found in a canyon-like area in Hyrule Field, west of Hyrule Castle Town, or in shallow water near Seesyde Village in Jabul Waters.
Find a Mothula
Mothula is on the second floor of Gerudo Sanctum, the main dungeon in Gerudo Desert. Unlike Tektite, the guide lists no alternate location for this inspiration.

Return to Dampé
Take both monster inspirations back to the studio and give them to Dampé. He uses them to build Techtite, his first automaton.

Nintendo describes automatons as mechanical allies that can attack and stun enemies. Dampé’s quests unlock six automatons in total, according to Nintendo Life’s guide; this walkthrough covers only the first creation, Techtite.
