To complete the Challenger’s Deep Bestiary, catch all 10 fish listed for the area, using their preferred bait and conditions as a checklist. The list below is from the area page updated September 25, 2026; preferences are guidance, not guaranteed catches. Challenger’s Deep is the second layer of Mariana’s Veil.

Use the in-game area Bestiary to identify what you still need, then match your target’s listed bait, time, weather, and season while fishing in Challenger’s Deep.

Work through the Bestiary efficiently
- Open the Challenger’s Deep entry in the in-game Bestiary and note which fish are missing. The Bestiary is the game’s logbook for tracking fish and items by area.
- Group missing fish that share conditions. Polar Prowler and Frozen Leviathan both list Truffle Worm, night, clear weather, and winter. Chillfin Chimaera also prefers night and winter, but lists Fish Head and has no weather restriction.
- Fish in Challenger’s Deep with the listed bait and conditions for your target. Cryoskin has no listed bait or environmental restriction; other entries call for more specific combinations.
- Check the area Bestiary again after catches and update your remaining targets.
The area page does not provide catch odds or quantify how much a preferred condition helps, so these combinations should not be treated as guarantees.

Cold protection and layer progression
The area page identifies Challenger’s Deep as Mariana’s Veil’s second layer. It lists Glimmerfin Suit Lv.2 as cold protection and says a Winter Cloak can be used instead of the suit.
The layer quest and the complete Bestiary are related but distinct goals. The documented Challenger’s Deep quest asks for Cryoskin and Polar Prowler caught there, as well as Glimmerfin Suit Tier 1. The page says Tier 1 comes from completing the Volcanic Vents quest; completing the Challenger’s Deep quest awards the level 2 suit and Submarine Ice Upgrade for deeper travel. Those quest fish are not evidence that every Bestiary entry is a quest prerequisite.
Rank #2
- Compact: Dimension: 7.9"x5.9"x5.9"; 1 Gallon tank; ideal for small spaces, aquarium beginners caring for a single betta, a few shrimp, snails, or a tiny goldfish. Also works as a temporary hospital tank, quarantine tank, or desktop decor (After deducting the filter part, the actual usable volume is approximately 0.8 gal and it will further decrease after adding substrate)
- Customizable Lighting: features a 3-color LED hood with 10 adjustable brightness levels to showcase your fish and tank décor
- Self-Cleaning Filtration: Hidden filter keeps tank clean for easier maintenance. Note: Clean filter sponge and pump regularly to avoid clogging; regular water changes are required — this small tank does not support zero-maintenance use
- Thoughtful Design: its top feeding hole allows for easy feeding without removing the lid; four silicone feet for stability and quiet operation
- Complete Starter Kit: 1x 1 gallon Fish Tank, 1x Filter Sponge, 1x Adjustable Water Pump, 1x LED Hood (Note: The light requires a power transformer (not included) for use. Compatible transformers include 5V 0.5A, 5V 1A, 5V 1.5A, and 5V 2A)
Is the Challenger’s Rod required?
No requirement is documented. The area page lists the Challenger’s Rod for 750,000 C$ at its stated in-game coordinates, and the rod page describes it as an end-game item with a 25% progress-speed passive. Neither source says you need it to finish the area Bestiary, so treat it as optional equipment rather than a completion condition.

Allow extra patience for Frozen Leviathan
Frozen Leviathan is the Exotic entry. Its fish page confirms Challenger’s Deep as its location, names Truffle Worm as preferred bait, and describes the fish as highly elusive. It also reports a -90% progress-speed effect while reeling. The area table lists night, clear weather, and winter for it. Match those listed preferences and expect a difficult catch; the sources do not establish a fixed number of attempts or a guaranteed method.

- AVAILABLE IN MULTIPLE SIZES. Choose from 20-gallon High, 20-gallon Long, 29 gallon tanks
What Bestiary completion means
The general Bestiary page describes the feature as an in-game logbook cataloging fish and items. It says that completing the entire Bestiary to 100% makes the held book’s bookmark shiny. That is a whole-game completion note, not a reward documented specifically for finishing Challenger’s Deep.
Keep the checklist current
The area table was updated September 25, 2026, and checked October 8, 2026. Fisch content can change, so verify the in-game Bestiary and current area page if a patch alters fish conditions. The cited pages do not establish catch probabilities, precise steps for manipulating weather or season, or official developer confirmation of every listed preference.
