Start the quest with Órlaith
Find Órlaith at the Horns of the South fortress and ask whether she needs help. She explains that her supplier, Nest, is missing. This is the current walkthrough route listed by Tainted Grail Wiki and Neoseeker.

Find Nest and recover the package
Rescue Nest near the Archspire
Travel northwest of the Archspire to the bandit camp marked by the quest. Nest is being held in a cage. Defeat the captors, free her, and ask about the package for Órlaith.

Dig up the package
Follow the updated quest marker to the small ruined area Nest describes. Use a shovel at the marked dig spot to retrieve the package, described in guides as packaged pyrolusite or a mysterious package for Órlaith.

Open the passage to Broch Prison
Return the package to Órlaith and follow the new objective to the marked pile of stones. The guides differ in how they describe the item and interaction: Neoseeker says to place packaged pyrolusite and shoot it with a fire arrow; VGTimes describes placing and detonating an explosive device. Follow the item prompt and quest marker shown in your game. After igniting or detonating it, move away from the blast.
When the passage opens, descend into Broch Prison and speak with Rumpolt Finnini. VGTimes also reports an Ogre encounter and an optional Cillian reward during this part of the route; those are supplemental details, not necessary steps in the core completion sequence.

Return to Órlaith and collect the reward
Go back to Órlaith after speaking with Rumpolt Finnini. Neoseeker (2025) and Tainted Grail Wiki (accessed 2026) list 1,000 XP and 100 gold as the reward. The wiki also reports a possible additional 100 or 150 gold, depending on the payment dialogue and a perception or practicality check; that extra payment is conditional, not guaranteed.
If your quest log points to a book
An older Fandom guide describes a different route involving Smuggler’s Bay Dungeon and a book from the Tomb of the Good Druid. Current walkthroughs from Neoseeker and Tainted Grail Wiki instead agree on the Nest, package, and Broch Prison sequence. If your journal shows a Sacred Book of Sigils objective, verify that The Silk Road is selected and check its current journal steps before following the older route. A Steam community bug-report thread documents confusion around that objective, but does not establish whether it reflects a bug, a version difference, or a quest mix-up.
