Pet Simulator 99’s Fishing Event is a persistent Fishing World activity: catch fish, sell them for coins, earn fishing XP, and use your progress to unlock better rods, boats, and islands. The event launched on May 3, 2025; BIG Games described it as “here to stay.” Its contests and special rewards, however, may not still be active, so check the in-game event interface before pursuing a specific prize.
How the Fishing Event works
The basic progression loop is straightforward: travel between islands, fish, sell your catches, and reinvest your coins in equipment. Fishing also earns XP, which helps unlock new areas and gear. BIG Games’ launch announcement described five islands, more than 40 fish, and eight rods. These are developer-published figures from the May 2025 update, not independently measured totals. Each island has its own fish and merchants. Rods improve fishing performance: BIG Games says higher-tier rods reel faster and have a better chance of success. Boats improve travel speed and how many fish you can carry. The announcement does not provide a complete current stat or cost table, so compare the options shown by the merchants in your game rather than relying on an outdated guide.
How to get to Fishing World
A community-maintained wiki places the Fishing World entrance at Area 26 in World 1 and says it can also be reached from spawn in later worlds. Because this is secondary information and game layouts can change, check your current in-game map if you do not see the entrance there. Fishing World location details.

Do not confuse this Fishing World with the older fishing minigame. A 2023 guide places that earlier activity at Area 27, but its location and instructions are not evidence for how the 2025 Fishing Event works. The older fishing minigame guide.
How to progress through the islands
- Start fishing with the wooden rod. BIG Games says players begin with this rod. The launch announcement does not document the live interface controls, so follow the prompts currently shown in-game rather than assuming the older minigame’s inputs apply.
- Sell your haul. Find the Fish Merchant on the island and sell catches for coins. You also earn fishing XP as you play.
- Upgrade with the island merchants. Use the Rod Merchant for rods and the Boat Merchant for boats. Consider a rod if you want faster reeling or a better chance of success; consider a boat if travel speed or carrying capacity is holding you back.
- Keep your catch streak going. BIG Games says fish appear faster as you maintain a streak. Missing a reel resets it, so pay attention to the current fishing prompt.
- Unlock the next island as you qualify. Islands, rods, and boats are tied to fishing-level and coin progression. The launch announcement says the Level 40 and Level 50 rods are found only in sunken treasure chests; it does not provide a full current unlock table.
How to use whirlpools
Whirlpools appear randomly. The launch notes say casting within one gives a large luck boost, making it worth fishing there when one is available. In the May 10, 2025 Blizzard Bay expansion, BIG Games described that island’s Luck Whirlpool as granting up to +200% luck. That is the developer’s stated maximum, not an independently tested result. How to reach Blizzard Bay
BIG Games’ May 10, 2025 expansion says Fishing Level 40 is required to enter Blizzard Bay. The update added 10 fish, a chance to fish up a Huge Snow Crab, and the Reel Frosty boat. It also raised the fishing level cap to 60. These are dated update details; check the current game for any later changes to requirements or availability.

The launch update described an hourly contest for the heaviest fish and a Poison Turtle Clan Battle with weight-based placement rewards. The Blizzard Bay update described the Huge Stingray as a top-5,000 Fishing Contest reward and mentioned the Huge Snow Crab and Huge Skeleton Shark as fishing-related pets. These are historical update details, not confirmation that the contests or rewards remain obtainable now.

The Roblox listing checked for this article showed Hatch Wars as the featured game event. That does not establish that Fishing World has been removed, but the reviewed sources do not confirm that its historical contests are currently active.
