Yes, the Logitech G29 works on PS5. Set its platform switch to PS4, connect the pedals, power adapter, and USB cable, then press the wheel’s PS button. The PS5 does not provide a universal G29 settings panel: steering angle, pedal calibration, button mapping, and force feedback are configured inside each compatible racing game.
The G29 works with supported PS5 and PS4 titles including Gran Turismo 7, F1 25, EA Sports WRC, Assetto Corsa Competizione, Dirt Rally 2.0, and others. Check Logitech’s current compatibility list before assuming a game supports it.
What you need
- Logitech G29 wheel and wheel base
- G29 pedal assembly
- AC power adapter
- The wheel’s USB cable
- PlayStation 5 console
- A racing game with G29 or Logitech force-feedback support
- A stable desk, stand, or racing cockpit
The optional Logitech Driving Force Shifter is not required. The wheel and pedals work without it. If you use the shifter, it connects to the dedicated port on the G29 base—not directly to the PS5. The shifter only adds functionality in games that support H-pattern gears and, where applicable, the clutch.
Logitech lists the G29 as compatible with PS5, PS4, PS3, and compatible PC games. Its physical wheel range is up to 900 degrees, it uses dual-motor force feedback, and its separate pedal set includes accelerator, brake, and clutch pedals. See the official technical specifications.

How to connect the G29 to a PS5
- Mount the wheel. Clamp it securely to a desk or attach it to a cockpit using the mounting points. The wheel should not move during driving.
- Connect the pedals. Plug the pedal cable into the pedal socket on the G29 wheel base.
- Connect power. Plug the AC adapter into the wheel and a wall outlet. The G29 is a powered wired wheel, not a wireless controller.
- Set the platform switch to PS4. The G29 has no separate PS5 position. Logitech’s PlayStation instructions specify the PS4 position for PlayStation use.
- Connect USB directly to the PS5. Avoid a USB hub or extension while setting up or troubleshooting.
- Let calibration finish. The wheel normally rotates from side to side when it starts. Do not hold the wheel or press the pedals during this process.
- Turn on the PS5. Use a DualSense controller if necessary.
- Press the G29’s PS button. Select your user profile when the console asks.
- Launch a supported racing game. Open its controller, wheel, or input-settings menu.
- Check every input. Turn the wheel, press the accelerator and brake, test the paddles, and check the clutch or shifter if fitted.
Logitech’s platform guidance is available here. Recognition by the console does not guarantee that every game will support the wheel or automatically assign every control.
Configure the G29 inside a racing game
There is generally no PS5 system menu for G29 rotation, steering linearity, pedal dead zones, force-feedback strength, or individual wheel-button mapping. The game normally controls those settings. Menu names and available options differ between games and between PS4 and PS5 versions.
In the game’s input menu, look for options covering:
- Steering axis and steering sensitivity or linearity
- Steering rotation or maximum wheel angle
- Accelerator, brake, and clutch axes
- Throttle and brake dead zones or saturation
- Paddle-shift and H-pattern gear assignments
- Force-feedback strength, damping, vibration, and road effects
- Pause, menu, camera, handbrake, and other button mappings
Start with the game’s default wheel profile. Confirm that the basic axes work before changing advanced force-feedback or sensitivity options. Test in practice, time trial, or another low-risk mode, then change one setting at a time.

These are neutral starting points, not an official universal Logitech preset. The correct values depend on the game, car, driving style, and condition of the wheel.
| Setting | Starting point | Change it when |
|---|---|---|
| Steering dead zone | 0 | The wheel drifts around center or does not register small movements correctly. |
| Throttle dead zone | 0 | The throttle does not return fully to zero. |
| Brake dead zone | 0 | The brake registers while untouched. |
| Steering sensitivity or linearity | Default or neutral | Steering feels excessively slow, sharp, or twitchy. |
| Force feedback | Default or moderate | Feedback is absent, too weak, or overpowering. |
| Wheel rotation | Default or automatic | A particular game or vehicle requires a different range. |
The G29 can rotate up to 900 degrees, but that does not mean every game or vehicle uses the full range. Formula cars and other vehicles may use a smaller effective steering range. The brake pedal is described by Logitech as nonlinear, so it can feel much stiffer and less like a DualSense trigger than new users expect.

- REALISTIC RACING SIMULATION DUO: Feel what is like to drive a real race car with G29 Driving Force Racing Wheel & Pedals and Driving Force Shifter
- PAIRED FOR PRECISION: Take full control of the race with G29 Driving Force Racing Wheel & Pedals and Driving Force Shifter
- PRECISE CONTROL: Helical transmission gears reduce noise and vibration with anti-backlash keeping wheel and pedals tight. The six-speed “H” shifter helps you execute smooth, accurate gear transitions
- FORCE FEEDBACK: The dual motor force-feedback realistically simulates the feel of tires on a turn, understeer, oversteer, drifting and more
- PREMIUM BUILT: Look, feel and durability of a real race car wheel, pedals and shifter. Wheel cover, knob and boot are covered in high-quality, hand-stitched leather with a solid steel gear shaft and polished metal pedals
Avoid adding a strong artificial centering spring when a game already supplies force feedback. Excessive vibration and road-effect values can make the wheel noisy and obscure more useful tire and grip information.
Game-specific notes
Gran Turismo 7
Gran Turismo 7 is a common G29-on-PS5 setup and is listed as compatible by Logitech and PlayStation. Connect and authenticate the wheel before launching the game, then open the game’s controller or steering-wheel settings. Confirm steering, accelerator, brake, and shift inputs before adjusting force-feedback strength or sensitivity.
Make small changes and test them in practice rather than immediately entering a race. Steering feel and the useful rotation range can differ between vehicle types. Do not copy settings intended for Logitech’s G923 or PRO wheel: the G29 does not have TRUEFORCE, and PRO-wheel tables are not G29 presets.
F1 25, EA Sports WRC, and rally games
These games may expose separate settings for steering saturation, linearity, damping, vibration, and force feedback. Begin with the default G29 profile, verify the steering and pedal axes, and adjust only after testing on track. Rally titles can produce stronger and faster wheel movement, so use a moderate force-feedback level initially.
Assetto Corsa Competizione, Dirt Rally 2.0, and SnowRunner
These titles are also listed among Logitech-compatible games, but their available controls and support can vary by platform version and update. Confirm whether the game supports the clutch, H-pattern shifter, handbrake, and every wheel button you want to use. A game can recognize steering and pedals while leaving additional controls unassigned.
For the latest title-by-title information, consult Logitech’s G29/G923/G920 compatibility list. Support is game-specific; a compatible PS4 version does not automatically guarantee identical peripheral behavior in a PS5 version.

Using the optional Driving Force Shifter
- Plug the shifter into the dedicated shifter port on the G29 wheel base.
- Open the game’s control settings.
- Assign first through sixth gears and reverse if the game uses an H-pattern layout.
- Assign the clutch only if the game supports it.
The shifter is unnecessary in games designed around paddle shifting. Do not connect it directly to the PS5 or assume that every title supports its gears, clutch, or reverse switch.
Do you need Logitech G HUB?
No. G HUB is PC software and is not installed on the PS5. Normal console setup requires no G HUB installation, desktop calibration utility, or PC connection. On PS5, the game primarily controls steering range, button mapping, pedal behavior, and force feedback.
A PC can be useful for separating a hardware or power problem from a console or game problem, but old guides that tell you to install Logitech Gaming Software specifically for PS5 should be treated cautiously. Logitech states that its Firmware Update Tool is no longer supported or maintained. Do not begin a firmware procedure simply because a game does not recognize the wheel.
Fix a G29 that is not working on PS5
| Symptom | First checks |
|---|---|
| No lights or calibration | Check the AC adapter, wall outlet, platform switch, and USB connection. |
| The wheel calibrates but the game ignores it | Confirm game support, close and relaunch the game, select the wheel input device, and restore default bindings. |
| Steering is off-center | Reconnect without touching the wheel, let calibration finish, then restore or redo in-game calibration if available. |
| Pedals do not respond | Reseat the pedal cable, check accelerator and brake axis assignments, and verify the pedal mode. |
| No force feedback | Check the power adapter, game support, force feedback setting, and whether a controller-only preset is active. |
| Shifter does not work | Check the connection to the wheel base, gear mapping, and H-pattern support in the game. |
The wheel is not detected
- Confirm the top switch is set to PS4.
- Disconnect and reconnect the AC adapter.
- Plug the USB cable directly into the PS5.
- Try another PS5 USB port.
- Restart the PS5 with the wheel connected.
- Press the G29 PS button after the home screen appears.
- Check that the game is on Logitech’s compatibility list.
- Test a second supported game.
- Reconnect the pedal cable firmly.
- If possible, test the wheel on a PC to distinguish a console or game issue from a hardware or power fault.
A wheel that does not work in a non-racing game—or in a racing game without Logitech-wheel support—is not necessarily defective.
The wheel calibrates but the game ignores it
Close the game completely, connect and authenticate the G29, then relaunch the game. Open its control-device menu, restore the default wheel bindings, and manually assign steering, throttle, brake, and shifts if necessary. Some games switch input devices only after a wheel button is pressed; others may support only one console version.
Steering is off-center
The wheel may have been held during calibration, mounted physically off-center, or altered by an in-game calibration setting. Quit the game, disconnect and reconnect the wheel without touching it, let the startup movement finish, center the wheel physically, and restore the game’s steering settings. Not every PS5 game provides a separate center-calibration control.

Pedals are reversed or do not work
Make sure the pedals are plugged into the wheel base rather than the PS5. Check that accelerator and brake are assigned to the correct axes and that the game is not using a combined-axis mode when separate axes are expected. Do not press a pedal during startup. Also remember that the nonlinear brake can feel unusual without being faulty.
Force feedback is weak, absent, or noisy
Confirm that the game supports G29 force feedback, that it is enabled, and that the power adapter is connected. Check that the game is not using a controller-only profile and that force-feedback strength is not set to zero. Excessive strength and road effects can make the wheel feel harsh rather than more informative.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the G29 still a good PS5 wheel?
For a beginner or intermediate console racer, the G29 remains a practical choice because it has official PS5 compatibility, broad support across major racing games, a three-pedal set, PlayStation controls, up to 900 degrees of rotation, and dual-motor force feedback. It is also simpler than a direct-drive setup.
Its limitations are equally clear: it is gear-driven, can be noisy, offers less detailed force feedback than direct-drive wheels, and has no universal PS5 configuration utility. Some games may not support the clutch, H-pattern shifter, RPM indicators, or every wheel button.
The G923 is a reasonable upgrade for someone who specifically wants TRUEFORCE in compatible games, but it remains gear-driven. A Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Pro or a higher-end Thrustmaster model may make more sense for a serious sim racer seeking stronger force feedback or a larger upgrade ecosystem, at substantially greater cost and complexity. PlayStation’s official racing-wheel overview lists compatible options.
