Uniform blur usually points to resolution scaling or an upscaler; textures that sharpen late suggest streaming pressure; missing, stretched, flickering, or colorful surfaces are more consistent with corrupted files, mods, drivers, or a game-specific bug. Start with reversible settings and a clean, unmodded test before reinstalling.
Quick fix checklist
- Update Cyberpunk 2077 and your platform software.
- Set native display resolution, High textures, and temporarily disable dynamic resolution and DLSS, FSR, or XeSS.
- Disable mods, overlays, recording tools, and unnecessary background applications.
- Restart the game and PC.
- Verify the installation through Steam, GOG Galaxy, or Epic Games Store.
- Rebuild the GPU shader cache if the problem followed a driver or game update.
- Clean-install or roll back the graphics driver.
- Confirm the game is installed on an SSD and that the system is not under memory, VRAM, or storage pressure.
- Test an earlier save and a new game.
- Reinstall or contact CD PROJEKT RED only if the clean test still fails.
Official updates have fixed several visual issues, including missing, clipping, and floating textures in Update 2.3 and additional PC graphics problems in Patch 2.31. Update the game before applying unofficial fixes: Update 2.3 notes and Patch 2.31 notes. Patch 2.31 is the latest official patch page identified for this guide, dated September 11, 2025; later releases may change the current version.

Identify the texture problem first

Distant objects are intentionally rendered with lower-detail assets through level-of-detail and streaming systems. Occasional distant blur or pop-in is not automatically a broken installation. Focus on persistent close-range blur, severe streaming delays, missing geometry, or corruption.
1. Establish a clean graphics baseline
Open Settings → Graphics and temporarily use:
- Native display resolution
- Texture Quality: High, or the highest setting the system can sustain
- Resolution Scaling: Off
- Dynamic Resolution Scaling: Off
- DLSS, AMD FSR, and Intel XeSS: Off
- Ray tracing and path tracing: Off
- Motion blur, film grain, chromatic aberration, and depth of field: Off for testing
- Sharpening: default or moderate
Restart the game after major graphics or ray-tracing changes. Visit the same location and compare a nearby surface, character face, vehicle, sign, and road texture. Changing ten options at once makes the result difficult to interpret.

2. Test DLSS, FSR, XeSS, and dynamic resolution
Upscaling renders the game internally below your output resolution and reconstructs the image. Quality-oriented settings can look good, but Performance and Ultra Performance modes may soften fine detail. They can make an image appear to have blurry textures even when the texture assets are intact.
- Turn resolution scaling off and restart.
- If the image becomes sharp, re-enable the preferred upscaler at Quality.
- Try Balanced only if necessary; avoid Performance modes while diagnosing image quality.
- Disable frame generation temporarily. It changes motion presentation but does not restore low-resolution source textures.
- On supported NVIDIA hardware, compare DLSS Super Resolution with DLAA if performance allows.
- If only reflections or ray-traced effects are wrong, test ray tracing and Ray Reconstruction separately.
Cyberpunk 2077 supports DLSS Super Resolution, AMD FSR, and Intel XeSS, with menu presentation changed in Update 2.1. These are image-quality controls, not universal texture repairs: official Update 2.1 notes.
3. Disable mods and overlays
Mods can replace textures, materials, lighting, weather, vehicles, characters, or level-of-detail data. Framework conflicts can also produce missing or corrupted assets.
- Exit the game and launcher.
- Disable all nonessential mods, preferably by creating a clean profile in your mod manager.
- Remove or disable the newest texture, material, LOD, weather, lighting, vehicle, or character changes first.
- Also test without RED4ext, redscript, TweakXL, ArchiveXL, Codeware, Material and Texture Override content, ReShade, and similar frameworks.
- Verify the game files while the game is unmodded.
- Launch and test before re-enabling mods in small groups.
Do not begin by deleting arbitrary bin, engine, or r6 folders. That can remove frameworks, settings, or other files and make recovery harder. Back up saves and configuration, disable mods through the manager, and remove only files clearly created by a mod. See CDPR modding support and the official mod-user troubleshooting guide.

4. Verify the game files
CDPR identifies corrupted files as a possible cause of glitched graphics. Verification may redownload damaged or missing files and normally does not delete saves, but it may not remove third-party mod files.
Steam
- Open Steam → Library.
- Right-click Cyberpunk 2077 → Properties.
- Open Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files.
GOG Galaxy
- Select Cyberpunk 2077 under Owned games.
- Click Customize beside Play.
- Choose Manage installation → Verify/Repair.
Epic Games Store
- Open Library and find the game.
- Click the three-dot menu and select Manage.
- Click Verify.

5. Rebuild the shader cache
Use this step when artifacts or unusual rendering began after a GPU driver or game update. A shader cache is different from the game’s asset files; clearing it will not repair a missing texture.
- Close the game and launcher, then reboot.
- Use your GPU software or documented vendor method to clear shader-cache data.
- Delete only shader-cache data, not saves or the game installation.
- Launch the game and expect temporary stutter while shaders are compiled again.

6. Update, clean-install, or roll back the GPU driver
CDPR recommends updating or clean-installing graphics drivers for visual and performance issues. However, a new driver can itself introduce a regression. If the problem began immediately after an update, test the previous known-good version.
- NVIDIA: download the driver from NVIDIA’s official page and use the installer’s clean-install option where available.
- AMD: use the current package from AMD Support; AMD Cleanup Utility is an option when a full removal is necessary.
- Intel: install the current driver from Intel and disable driver-level image enhancements while testing.
Display Driver Uninstaller can help with a deeper cleanup, but download it only from its official creator page and use Safe Mode carefully. CDPR’s performance troubleshooting guidance covers driver cleanup, overlays, background programs, and rollback considerations.
7. Check SSD, VRAM, RAM, and background load
Cyberpunk 2077’s updated PC requirements emphasize SSD storage because it improves loading, streaming, and general performance. An HDD can contribute to delayed texture streaming, but moving the game to an SSD will not repair corrupted assets, a bad driver, or an incompatible mod.
- Confirm the game is installed on an SSD with adequate free space.
- Do not enable HDD Mode unnecessarily on an SSD installation.
- Pause downloads and close browsers, recording software, overlays, and hardware-monitoring tools.
- Check whether the GPU is running out of VRAM and whether system RAM or Windows virtual memory is heavily pressured.
- Check for overheating or throttling.
- Temporarily exclude the game folder from unusually aggressive scanning only if you understand the security trade-off.

8. Test another save and a new game
- Create a manual save somewhere else.
- Load an earlier save from before the problem began.
- Start a new game and visit a comparable area.
- Compare the same object or type of surface.
If only one save is affected, the cause may be save-, mission-, or location-specific. If every save and a new game are affected, prioritize settings, files, drivers, cache, hardware, or mods. Preserve the affected save if you report the issue.
On Windows, saves are stored at:

Do not apply PC driver, shader-cache, or configuration-file instructions to consoles. Instead:
- Fully close the game and restart the console, rather than relying only on suspend or quick resume.
- Install the latest game and system updates.
- Test another save and another area.
- Use the console’s built-in repair or reinstall options where available.
- Temporarily compare quality and performance modes if your console offers both.
Platform-specific fixes are listed in the official patch notes.
Advanced recovery
Only after backing up saves and configuration should you consider advanced recovery:

- Rename, rather than immediately delete, the configuration folder so the game can regenerate default settings. A relevant Windows location is
%localappdata%CD Projekt RedCyberpunk 2077. - Perform a clean reinstall after removing mod deployment files and testing the stock installation.
- Launch once without mods before restoring any mod profile.
A reinstall may not remove every mod-created file, reset driver state, or fix a save-specific bug. Avoid undocumented command-line switches, registry edits, and random “texture repair” utilities.
When to contact CDPR support
Report the issue if it survives native-resolution testing, disabled mods, file verification, a current or known-good driver, and a new-game test. Include:
- Game version and platform/storefront
- GPU model, VRAM, driver version, system RAM, and storage type
- Whether Phantom Liberty is installed
- Whether the issue occurs without mods
- A video, screenshots, and exact reproduction steps
- Benchmark results where requested
- The affected save when the problem is location-specific
CDPR’s support guidance requests benchmark information, videos where possible, earlier saves, and save files for location-specific issues: performance troubleshooting and visual-issue reporting.
