Connect your DualSense controller to your Windows PC with a USB-C data cable or Bluetooth, then launch Roblox and join an experience that supports gamepad controls. Roblox supports PlayStation gamepads, but each experience’s creator determines which controls work.
What you need
- A PS5 DualSense controller.
- A Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11 PC. Sony lists both as compatible with DualSense over USB and Bluetooth.
- Either a USB-C cable that transfers data or working Bluetooth built into your PC or supplied by an adapter.
- Roblox and an experience with gamepad support.
You do not need to connect the controller to a PS5 first. Sony’s DualSense PC instructions cover USB and Bluetooth connections.
Connect the controller with USB
USB is the simplest first connection and a useful way to check whether Bluetooth is causing a problem.
- Connect the USB-C end of the cable to the top of the DualSense and the other end to your PC.
- Press the controller’s PS button and wait for Windows to recognize it.
- Open Roblox after connecting the controller.
- Join an experience with gamepad support and test movement and buttons.
A cable can charge the controller without carrying data. If the controller lights up but Windows or Roblox does not respond, try another USB-C cable known to support data. Windows’ controller connection guide provides additional PC setup context.

Connect the controller with Bluetooth
- Turn off the controller if its player indicator is lit: hold the PS button until it powers down. Disconnect any USB cable.
- Hold the Create button and the PS button together until the light bar flashes. This puts the DualSense in pairing mode.
- On Windows 11, open Settings → Bluetooth & devices and turn Bluetooth on. Choose Add device → Bluetooth. Windows 10 has a Bluetooth devices area in Settings; choose the option to add a Bluetooth device there.
- Select the controller, usually shown as Wireless Controller, from the device list.
- When pairing finishes, press the PS button if needed, then launch Roblox and join an experience.
Sony says the DualSense can be paired with only one device at a time. If it reconnects to your PS5, turn it off and repeat the pairing steps for the PC. See Sony’s pairing instructions and its PlayStation gaming on PC guidance.
Test it in a Roblox experience
Roblox’s gamepad documentation identifies Xbox and PlayStation controllers as supported gamepad types. That means Roblox can receive PlayStation controller input; it does not mean every experience has a complete controller layout. Developers choose which actions and bindings to implement.

- Start Roblox after connecting or pairing the controller.
- Join an experience that offers gamepad controls.
- Try the left stick for movement, the right stick for camera control, the face buttons, the triggers, and the Options button for the Roblox menu where applicable.
- Keep a keyboard and mouse nearby for chat, inventory, menus, or actions the experience does not support with a controller.
Button prompts vary. An experience may display PlayStation labels, Xbox labels, keyboard prompts, or no prompts. Touchpad and Create-button actions are not guaranteed.
Typical controls—and why they can differ
The following is a common pattern, not a universal Roblox layout. The experience’s own controls or settings menu is the best guide.

Roblox lets experience creators define gamepad actions and bindings, so a control that works in one experience may do something different—or nothing—in another. If only one experience has a problem, check its settings or contact its developer rather than assuming the controller is defective.
Troubleshoot a controller Roblox does not respond to
- Try USB. A wired test helps separate Bluetooth pairing trouble from a Roblox or Windows input issue.
- Check the cable. If the controller charges but sends no input, use a USB-C data cable rather than a charge-only cable.
- Connect before opening Roblox. If Roblox was already open when you paired the controller, close and reopen it.
- Test another experience. If the controller works there, the original experience may have limited or no gamepad support.
- Check Windows recognition. If Windows does not detect the controller, troubleshoot the cable, Bluetooth adapter, pairing, or drivers before changing Roblox settings.
- Remove conflicts. Disconnect other controllers and close extra input-mapping utilities. Multiple devices or remappers can cause duplicate or conflicting input.
- Update DualSense firmware. Sony’s PlayStation Accessories app for Windows can update the controller firmware.
- Reset the controller if it will not pair or keeps disconnecting. Follow Sony’s reset and connection guidance.
- Try emulation only if native input still fails. A third-party mapper such as DS4Windows can present the DualSense as an Xbox-style controller; see the trade-offs below.
Should you use DS4Windows?
Try the DualSense directly over USB or Bluetooth first. Roblox documents PlayStation gamepad support, so a mapper is not a prerequisite for basic input when Windows and the experience recognize the controller.

If native input fails or a particular experience responds poorly, DS4Windows is a third-party Windows input mapper that can emulate an Xbox controller. This may help software that expects Xbox-style PC input, but it adds setup and another background application. Xbox prompts may appear, and running multiple remappers can create double input. It is not an official Sony or Roblox utility; download it only from the project’s repository or project site.

Basic gamepad input is the goal for Roblox; do not assume the experience supports every DualSense feature. Sony notes that adaptive triggers depend on game support, haptic feedback on PC may require USB, and the controller’s headset jack requires a wired PC connection. Microphone and speaker functions also depend on game and platform support. The Sony DualSense support page details these PC limitations.
