Roblox has no dependable, universal plug-and-play steering-wheel support. On Windows, you can try a community tool that converts wheel and pedal inputs into a virtual Xbox controller—but it is an experimental workaround, and it helps only in Roblox experiences that respond to those controller inputs.
Can you use a steering wheel in Roblox?
Not as a standard, officially supported setup. A Roblox staff reply in a bug discussion says steering wheels and controller-emulation software are not officially supported; treat any wheel-mapping method as best-effort rather than a Roblox-supported configuration. See the Roblox bug discussion.
The distinction matters: plugging a wheel into your PC does not ensure Roblox—or a particular experience—will detect it. A workaround can make the wheel appear to the game as a virtual Xbox controller, but the experience must also use the corresponding gamepad inputs for driving.
How the Windows workaround works
RoWheel Bridge is a community-described utility that reads a DirectInput steering wheel and pedals, then maps their inputs to a virtual Xbox controller. Its author describes it as experimental. The post, dated August 21, 2025, lists these prerequisites and mappings:

- Driver: ViGEm Bus Driver.
- Controls: steering to left-stick X, throttle to the right trigger, and brake to the left trigger. Clutch and shifter controls are optional in the description.
Read the RoWheel Bridge project post for its current instructions and requirements before using it. The post says administrator privileges are needed for force feedback; that is a project-specific requirement, not a general Roblox requirement. As with any unofficial utility, review the project’s source, files, and trustworthiness before installing it.
Set up the wheel-to-controller mapping
This is a cautious outline based on the project’s stated requirements, not a tested walkthrough. Follow the current project instructions if its setup has changed.

- Use a Windows 10 or 11 PC, and check that your wheel and pedals are DirectInput-compatible.
- Read the current RoWheel Bridge instructions and obtain ViGEm Bus Driver through the source linked by the project.
- Calibrate the wheel and pedals in the bridge. Confirm that steering, throttle, and brake register as the mapped virtual-controller inputs.
- Open the Roblox driving experience you want to play and test the controls there. The bridge can provide gamepad inputs, but the experience has to map those inputs to steering and acceleration.
- Keep keyboard or gamepad controls available for menus and troubleshooting.
Why the wheel may not work in a Roblox experience
The experience may not map gamepad controls to driving
The bridge presents inputs as a virtual gamepad; it cannot make an experience use controls that the experience has not mapped. The available evidence does not establish a universal compatibility list for Roblox driving games, so check the experience’s own controls or ask its developers about gamepad support.
The wheel or pedals may not be recognized by the bridge
The project specifies DirectInput-compatible hardware, but that is not a guarantee for every wheel, pedal set, or configuration. If calibration does not show the expected inputs, check the project’s current hardware and setup guidance rather than assuming Roblox itself is the cause.

Input or camera behavior may change when switching devices
Roblox forum reports describe camera or input behavior when switching between a mouse and an emulated gamepad. Staff replies in the discussion reported a fix released March 23, 2026, but that does not establish that every wheel, emulator, or experience is free of issues. See the discussion and staff replies.

For the simplest setup, use the keyboard or gamepad controls offered by the experience. Trying a wheel adds a separate bridge and driver, and success depends both on the hardware being recognized and on the experience using the mapped gamepad inputs. Force feedback is also not assured; whether it works depends on the wheel and software.

Roblox announced the full release of its Input Action System on June 11, 2026, describing a developer-facing framework for hardware bindings and action types. That announcement does not say Roblox now offers native racing-wheel support for players. See the Input Action System announcement.
