The most direct way to connect Google to OpenClaw is the @tensorfold/openclaw-google-workspace plugin. It uses one Google OAuth flow and lets you toggle Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Contacts, Tasks and Sheets. You create a Google Cloud project, enable the APIs you need, download a desktop OAuth client file, configure its credential and token paths in openclaw.json, restart the gateway and complete OpenClaw’s authorization flow.
Antihost offers VPS plans with one-click OpenClaw, NVMe storage and a 14-day free trial.
Google Docs and Slides are available through a separate direct-OAuth integration, while Google Meet uses its own meeting plugin and additional scopes. OpenClaw uses OAuth tokens rather than your Google password.

Have these items ready before opening OpenClaw’s configuration:
- An OpenClaw installation with permission to install plugins and restart its gateway.
- A Google account with access to the Workspace data you want OpenClaw to use.
- A Google Cloud project that you control or can administer.
- A desktop OAuth client JSON file downloaded from Google Cloud.
- A protected local directory for the OAuth client file and a separate location for the token file.
The documented shared plugin is designed for Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Contacts, Tasks and Sheets. It is not a universal switch for every Google product: Docs and Slides belong to the direct-OAuth alternative, and Meet has a separate plugin. Decide which products you actually need before enabling APIs or requesting scopes.

Install the shared Google Workspace plugin
Install @tensorfold/openclaw-google-workspace with OpenClaw’s plugin installer. Use the installer’s normal package workflow rather than copying plugin files manually. The package provides a shared OAuth connection, so the supported services can use one authorization rather than separate credentials for each service.
After installation, keep the package identifier handy. You will use the plugin’s configuration entries in openclaw.json, including credentialsPath, tokenPath and the service enablement settings.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Why this path is usually the best starting point
- One installation covers six Workspace services.
- One OAuth flow can authorize the enabled services.
- Services can be enabled later without rebuilding the integration.
- Incremental authorization preserves grants that you already made.
The shared plugin is the practical choice when your main work is email, scheduling, files, contacts, tasks or spreadsheets and you want one maintained connection instead of several independent OAuth clients.
Create a Google Cloud project and OAuth client
- Create or select a Google Cloud project. Use a project dedicated to this OpenClaw connection if you want its APIs and consent configuration isolated from other applications.
- Enable only the APIs you need. For example, enable Gmail for mail operations, Google Calendar for events, Drive for file access, Contacts for contact operations, Tasks for task lists and Sheets for spreadsheets. Do not enable unrelated APIs simply because they are available.
- Create a desktop OAuth client. In Google Cloud’s credentials area, choose the desktop application type and download the resulting JSON file.
- Keep the original file private. Anyone who obtains the client file and a usable token may be able to operate within the permissions granted to that OAuth client. Store it locally, not in a public repository or shared download folder.
The documented OpenClaw setup requires both the Google Cloud project and the APIs selected for the services you intend to use. Enabling an API does not itself grant OpenClaw access; the later consent flow still determines which account and scopes are authorized.
Store the credentials and configure OpenClaw
Move the downloaded client file into a protected local secrets directory. A documented example is:
~/.openclaw/secrets/google-oauth.json
Choose a different path for the token file, for example a second file in the same protected directory. Keeping client credentials and refresh tokens separate makes it easier to rotate one without confusing it with the other.

In openclaw.json, configure the Google Workspace plugin’s credentialsPath to point to the downloaded OAuth JSON file and tokenPath to the separate token location. Use the exact property names expected by the installed plugin and preserve the surrounding structure generated by OpenClaw’s installer.
Then set the service toggles. Enable only the products you plan to use. Gmail, Calendar and Drive are the common starting set; Contacts, Tasks and Sheets are optional toggles. The plugin’s documented table lists Drive and Sheets as read-only by default. Gmail and Calendar defaults allow broader operations unless you narrow them in configuration or during scope selection.
Example configuration decisions
- Inbox inspection only: enable Gmail and request read-only mail scopes.
- Scheduling assistant: enable Calendar and select read-only access unless OpenClaw must create or modify events.
- File search: enable Drive with read-only access.
- Spreadsheet updates: enable Sheets and change from the documented read-only default only when edits are required.
- People or task lookup: add Contacts or Tasks only when those data sets are needed.
Use restrictive operating-system file permissions for both files. The plugin documents local token storage and automatic token refresh, so the token path must remain writable by the OpenClaw process but inaccessible to unrelated users or services.
Restart the gateway and complete OAuth
Configuration changes are applied after the OpenClaw gateway is restarted. Once it is running again, use the plugin’s authorization tools:

begin-authtool to generate an authorization URL. - Open that URL in a browser and sign in to the Google account that owns the mailbox, calendar, files or other data you selected.
- Review the scopes shown on Google’s consent screen. They should match the services and operations you intentionally enabled.
- Approve the request and copy the authorization code or returned value requested by the plugin.
- Run the
complete-authtool with that returned authorization data. - Allow OpenClaw to write the token to the configured
tokenPath.
OAuth is the connection mechanism; OpenClaw never needs your Google account password. Google issues access and refresh tokens to the OAuth client, and the plugin uses those tokens for subsequent API calls.
What a successful setup looks like
- The authorization flow completes without a redirect or scope error.
- A token file appears at the configured token path.
- The gateway remains running after the restart.
- A test operation against each enabled service returns data or performs the deliberately requested action.
Test read operations first. For Gmail, inspect a message or label; for Calendar, list events; for Drive, list files; for Sheets, read a spreadsheet. Only test a write operation after confirming that the corresponding scope and service toggle are intentional.

Choose the right services and permission level
The service toggle and the OAuth scope answer different questions. The toggle tells the plugin which API integration to load; the scope tells Google what that integration may do. A service can be enabled while you request only read access.
| Service | Available in shared plugin | Documented default or requirement | Use write access when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gmail | Yes | Broader operations are permitted by default unless changed | OpenClaw must send, label, archive or otherwise modify mail |
| Calendar | Yes | Broader operations are permitted by default unless changed | OpenClaw must create or change events |
| Drive | Yes | Read-only by default | OpenClaw must edit, move, upload or delete files |
| Contacts | Optional toggle | Enable only if contact data is required | OpenClaw must change contact records |
| Tasks | Optional toggle | Enable only if task lists are required | OpenClaw must create or update tasks |
| Sheets | Optional toggle | Read-only by default | OpenClaw must edit spreadsheet contents |
For inbox, calendar or file inspection, read-only scopes are the safer choice. Request write scopes only for a concrete action such as sending mail, changing an event or editing a file. Fewer scopes reduce the impact of a compromised token and make Google’s consent screen easier to audit.
Add another Google service later
You do not need to start over when your needs expand. Enable the additional service in openclaw.json, enable its API in the same Google Cloud project if required, restart the gateway and run authorization again. The documented flow uses incremental scopes, so existing grants are preserved while Google asks for permission for the newly added service.
For example, if you initially enabled Gmail and Calendar and later need Drive, add Drive to the service configuration, enable the Drive API, restart OpenClaw and repeat begin-auth followed by complete-auth. Review the newly requested scope before approving it.
Connect Docs and Slides with the direct-OAuth alternative
A separate direct-OAuth OpenClaw integration supports Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets and Slides. It is the relevant option when document or presentation APIs are required and the shared Workspace plugin does not cover the product you need.
Compare the two paths before choosing:
| Consideration | Shared Google Workspace plugin | Direct-OAuth alternative |
|---|---|---|
| Services documented | Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Contacts, Tasks and Sheets | Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets and Slides |
| Credential model | One shared OAuth flow with service toggles | Direct OAuth integration with its own setup |
| Read/write control | Per-service enablement; Drive and Sheets default to read-only | Choose scopes appropriate to each operation |
| Long-lived use | Uses local token storage and automatic refresh as documented | Testing-mode OAuth apps have refresh tokens that expire after seven days |
The seven-day limitation is specifically reported by the direct-OAuth repository for an OAuth app that remains in Google’s Testing status. A deployment intended to run longer must account for Google’s consent-screen and publishing requirements rather than assuming a testing client will refresh indefinitely.

Use the direct-OAuth path when Docs or Slides are essential, or when its credential model better matches your deployment. Use the shared plugin when its six toggleable services cover the work and a single authorization flow is preferable.
Google Meet is a separate integration
Google Meet is not enabled by turning on the Calendar or Drive toggle in the shared Workspace plugin. OpenClaw documents Meet as a separate meeting plugin, alongside separate plugins for other meeting platforms.
How Meet access works
The Meet plugin can create or join meetings through the Meet API or through a signed-in Chrome profile. The browser fallback means the machine running OpenClaw must have an authenticated Chrome profile available when the plugin uses that route.
Scopes Meet may require
calendar.events.readonlyfor looking up meeting events in Calendar.drive.meet.readonlyfor exporting document bodies associated with Meet.- Additional Meet scopes for media and artifact features.
Some preview features require enrollment in Google’s developer preview program. Treat those capabilities separately from ordinary meeting creation or joining: preview enrollment, extra scopes and browser availability may all be required.

Install and authorize the Meet plugin only if your OpenClaw workflow needs to create, join, inspect or process Meet sessions. If you only need calendar events containing Meet links, the Calendar integration may be sufficient for event lookup, but Meet-specific media and artifacts still require the separate plugin and its scopes.

- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.
- Dual C-Clamp Hold - Worried your dual monitors might wobble or slip? Our upgraded base uses a larger platform plus a dual C-clamp structure to lock the dual monitor arm firmly to your desk. Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
OpenClaw cannot find the credentials file
Check the exact spelling and expansion of credentialsPath, including the filename and home directory. Confirm that the OpenClaw process can read the file and that the file is the desktop OAuth client JSON, not a token export or a downloaded HTML error page.
Authentication succeeds but calls fail with permission errors
Compare the enabled service toggle with the scope granted by Google. A read-only Drive or Sheets scope cannot perform an edit. Change the configuration to request the minimum write scope needed, restart the gateway and authorize again.
Existing access disappeared after changing services
Use the same Google Cloud project and OAuth client, keep the existing token path, and run the incremental authorization flow. Creating a second client or replacing the token file can make the installation appear to have lost its previous grants.
A direct-OAuth deployment stops working after a week
Check whether that OAuth app is still in Google’s Testing status. The direct-OAuth project documents seven-day refresh-token expiry in that state. Move through Google’s applicable consent and publishing requirements for a long-lived deployment, or plan a deliberate reauthorization process.
Meet features are missing
Verify that the separate Meet plugin is installed, the required Meet scopes were granted and the signed-in Chrome profile is available if the browser route is being used. Media or artifact features may need additional scopes, and preview features may require developer-preview enrollment.
A practical decision checklist
- Need Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Contacts, Tasks or Sheets? Start with
@tensorfold/openclaw-google-workspace. - Need only inspection? Use read-only scopes and keep Drive and Sheets at their documented defaults.
- Need sending, event changes or file edits? Request write access only for those actions.
- Need Docs or Slides? Evaluate the direct-OAuth integration.
- Need meeting creation, joining, media or artifacts? Install the separate Meet plugin.
- Need a long-running direct-OAuth deployment? Do not leave its Google OAuth app in Testing status without accounting for seven-day refresh-token expiry.
- Need to expand later? Add a service, enable its API, restart and authorize incrementally.
Following this sequence keeps the Google Cloud project, OAuth client, local token storage and OpenClaw service configuration aligned. That alignment is what prevents most setup errors while keeping Google access limited to the data and actions your OpenClaw workflow actually needs.
