The default game port is commonly 7777, but it is not safe to assume every server uses that number. The host’s connection panel is the authoritative source for the address and port.

What you need before connecting
Have these details ready before opening the game:
- Server IP address: The numeric address or hostname shown by the server host.
- Game port: The port paired with that address. Hosting panels normally display the combination as
IP:Port. - A running server: Direct Connect cannot start a server that is stopped, still booting, or unreachable from the internet.
- Matching mods, if required: A modded server can prompt you to confirm the required downloads or changes when you join.
Do not copy an RCON, statistics, query, or reserved port in place of the game port. Those services are separate from the port players use to enter the game.
How to connect with Direct Connect
1. Copy the address from the hosting panel
Sign in to the panel that manages the server and open its connection or server-information page. Look for a field labeled Connection Info, IP:Port, or similar. Copy both parts exactly, including the port after the colon.

For example, a panel might show an address in the form 203.0.113.25:7777. The example is only a format illustration; use the actual value supplied for your server. If the panel shows a port other than 7777, use that value rather than the commonly cited default.
2. Open the Community Servers menu
- Launch Path of Titans and wait for the main menu.
- Select Multiplayer.
- Open Community Servers.
- Choose Direct Connect.
The exact button text can vary slightly between game builds or screen layouts. The important route is the Community Servers area’s direct-connection option, not a normal server-browser search.

Enter the address in the field labeled Server IP for direct connect, or in the equivalent direct-connect field. If the game provides separate boxes, put the numeric IP or hostname in the address box and the game port in the port box. If it provides one combined field, enter the complete IP:Port value in the format requested by the screen.
Check every character before submitting. A missing digit, an extra space, a transposed number, or a port copied from the wrong row can send the request to a different service or to nowhere.
4. Start the connection
Select Direct Connect or Connect. The game will attempt to contact the server. If a mod confirmation appears, accept it only if you intend to join that modded server. The connection cannot complete until any required mod prompt is handled.

Which port should you use?
Hosting documentation commonly identifies 7777 as the default game port. A hosting wiki describes the startup argument -Port=7777 and says the server falls back to 7777 when that argument is omitted. That default is useful when configuring a new server, but it is not a substitute for checking the running server’s panel.
One host guide describes the following default layout:

Players normally need only the game port. Server owners may need to configure the other ports for administration, statistics, discovery, or the host’s particular control panel. A provider can assign a different game port, especially when several servers share one machine, so the panel’s value takes precedence over the example table.
Why Direct Connect is useful when the server is missing
A community server may not appear in the in-game browser even though it is running. Direct Connect is the documented fallback: it sends your request to the address you provide instead of relying on the browser’s listing and search results.
Use the browser only as a convenience. If you already have a verified IP and game port, you do not need to wait for the server to appear in the list before trying Direct Connect. Conversely, a successful browser listing does not prove that every manually entered port is correct; always use the connection information for the specific server.

Troubleshooting a failed connection
The game says the server cannot be reached
First, return to the hosting panel and verify that the server status is running rather than stopped, restarting, or still starting. Then recopy the address and port. A stale address, an old port assignment, or a copied administrative port can produce the same symptom as an offline server.
If the values are correct, check whether a firewall or router is blocking the connection. The hosting guides recommend confirming that the relevant ports are open on both the server’s firewall and the network router when Direct Connect fails.
The server is online but Direct Connect times out
- Confirm that you entered the game port, not the reserved, RCON, statistics, or query port.
- Ask the host to confirm the public address currently assigned to the server.
- Check firewall and router rules for the game port.
- If the host uses the documented default range, verify the configuration for ports 7777 through 7781.
- Try again after the host finishes restarting the server or applying a port change.
A timeout usually means the request did not receive a usable response. It does not identify the exact cause by itself, so these checks should be performed in order rather than changing random settings.
The game rejects the address immediately
An immediate validation error is usually a formatting problem. Remove labels such as IP: or Port: if the field expects only the value, and do not paste quotation marks. If the screen has separate address and port boxes, split the value at the colon. If it has one combined box, follow the format shown by that screen.
The server appears in the browser but Direct Connect fails
Compare the address and port shown by the host with the value you entered. A browser entry can be cached or can point to a different allocation from the one in the current panel. If the host recently changed ports, close and reopen the game after confirming the new connection information.

A mod prompt prevents entry
Read the prompt and accept it if you want to use the server’s required mods. Declining or cancelling leaves you at the connection screen. If the prompt repeatedly returns, stop the attempt, confirm that the server is actually running the intended mod set, and ask the host whether its configuration changed.
Firewall and router ports
Port instructions for Path of Titans servers are not perfectly consistent across hosting documentation. One source describes the game port as UDP and the reserved port as TCP. A Docker setup maps 7777/udp, 7778/tcp, and 7780/tcp. Another port-forwarding guide lists 7777–7781 as both TCP and UDP.
Because those descriptions conflict, do not infer a universal protocol rule from one guide. The practical advice given by the hosting material is to allow both TCP and UDP for ports 7777–7781 on the server firewall and router when Direct Connect fails, while still using the host’s own panel and network instructions as the final authority.
Opening a port on only one side is insufficient. A router can forward traffic to the wrong internal machine, and a server firewall can reject traffic that the router correctly forwards. The host should verify both layers, then restart the server if its control panel requires a restart after changing networking settings.
What players should and should not change
If you are only joining someone else’s server, you normally do not need to forward ports on your own home router. Port forwarding is primarily a server-hosting task. Your action is to enter the correct public address and game port; the server owner or hosting provider must make that address reachable.

Server-side checks for owners
Confirm the startup port
When launching a server manually, the hosting wiki documents -Port=7777 as the startup argument for the game port and states that 7777 is used when the argument is omitted. If you deliberately assign another port, make sure the panel, launch configuration, firewall, and router all use the same number.
Check every assigned service
Use the control panel’s connection information rather than assuming the default five-port layout. A provider may expose game, reserved, RCON, statistics, and query services on different numbers. Players need the game entry, while the host may need the remaining services for its management tools or listing behavior.
Check authentication and listing prerequisites carefully
One hosting source claims that a server appears in the browser only when its authentication token is valid and all five ports are open. That requirement is not independently confirmed in the available developer documentation, so treat it as a troubleshooting lead rather than a guaranteed rule. If Direct Connect also fails, the server owner can nevertheless verify the token status and port exposure with the hosting provider.
A reliable diagnostic order
Use this sequence to avoid changing several variables at once:
- Copy: Copy the current Connection Info value from the host panel.
- Separate: Identify which number is the game port and ignore the other service ports.
- Connect: Enter the values under Multiplayer → Community Servers → Direct Connect.
- Handle mods: Accept the mod confirmation if the server requires it.
- Verify status: If it fails, confirm that the server is running and fully started.
- Verify networking: Have the host check firewall and router rules for the assigned game port.
- Check the wider range: If the host’s setup uses the documented default layout, inspect 7777–7781 and the applicable TCP/UDP rules.
- Escalate: Give the host the exact error message, the time of the attempt, and the address-and-port value you used.
Recording the exact value and error prevents a common support loop in which the host checks one port while the player is entering another.

Direct Connect versus the server browser

Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming 7777 is universal: It is the commonly documented default, not a promise that every host uses it.
- Using the full panel URL: Direct Connect needs the server address and game port, not the web address of the hosting dashboard.
- Choosing RCON or query: Those ports serve administration or discovery functions and are not the normal player join port.
- Waiting indefinitely for a listing: Direct Connect exists specifically for servers that do not appear in the browser.
- Opening only one protocol without checking the host: Documentation differs on TCP and UDP assignments; follow the host’s instructions, and when failure persists, investigate both protocols for the relevant range.
- Ignoring a mod confirmation: A required mod prompt must be accepted to continue into that server.
- Testing while the server is restarting: Wait for the panel to report a fully running state before treating a failed attempt as a network fault.
What to send the host when you need help
Support can diagnose the issue faster when you provide precise information. Send:
- The server name or identifier shown in the panel.
- The exact IP and game port you entered, with any private credentials removed.
- The game’s full error message.
- Whether the server appeared in the Community Servers browser.
- Whether a mod confirmation appeared.
- The approximate time of the failed attempt.
Do not send RCON credentials or other administrative secrets in a public chat. The host needs the connection values and symptoms, not private control-panel access.
