You can control the Roblox camera without a mouse using a touchscreen or a gamepad’s secondary thumbstick. On a computer, the arrow keys are documented for turning the view left and right, but Roblox lists holding the right mouse button as the standard camera-movement input—so keyboard-only controls do not provide documented full free-look. Start by checking the experience’s camera settings, since its creator may restrict them.
Which mouse-free camera controls work in Roblox?

Roblox’s Creator Hub says it “supports nearly all forms of input, including mouse/keyboard, touch, gamepads, and VR.” The controls available to you can still depend on the device and the experience.

Check the experience’s camera settings first
- While in the experience, open the Roblox menu and select Settings.
- Look for Camera Mode and Shift Lock. If the creator allows changes, the camera mode can be set to Classic or Follow.
- In Classic mode, the camera stays in position until you adjust it manually. In Follow mode, it rotates with your avatar as it moves.
These options may be unavailable if the experience creator has locked the camera mode. Shift Lock, when enabled, toggles camera modes with the Shift key; it is not a general substitute for mouse-driven free-look.

On a laptop trackpad
There is no single trackpad gesture confirmed as a Roblox camera control across computers. Check the touchpad or trackpad settings provided by your device or operating system, then test a supported gesture in a safe moment in the experience. Gestures and their assignments can vary, and the experience itself may affect camera behavior.

On a touchscreen
Drag across the screen to move the camera and pinch to zoom. Roblox documents these as touch controls, although the experience and device must support touchscreen input.
With a gamepad
Move the secondary thumbstick—usually the right stick—to move the camera. Roblox also lists pressing that stick for zoom. If your controller lacks a secondary thumbstick, this documented camera input may not be available.

What can you do with keyboard-only controls?
Roblox’s default bindings document the left and right arrow keys for rotating the camera in those directions. They also list I and O for zooming. That supports basic turning and zooming, but the documentation does not establish a keyboard-only method for freely orbiting the camera in every direction. The standard computer camera-movement binding is holding the right mouse button.

Why the camera may not respond
- The experience controls camera settings: the creator may restrict Camera Mode or change camera behavior.
- The input is not supported or assigned on your device: this is especially relevant for trackpad gestures, which Roblox does not document as universal.
- You are expecting free-look from arrow keys: Roblox documents left/right rotation, not full keyboard-only free-orbit control.
