To make Victoria believe Max’s warning in Episode 4, “Dark Room,” Max must have comforted her after the paint incident in Episode 1. At the Vortex Club party, warn Victoria about the Dark Room, keep the conversation friendly or neutral, and do not choose “No need.” If Max mocked Victoria in Episode 1, she will not believe the warning.
What choices make Victoria believe Max?
- Episode 1: When Victoria is covered in paint, choose the comforting response rather than making fun of her.
- Episode 4: At the Vortex Club party, talk to Victoria and choose to warn her about the Dark Room.
- During the conversation: If Max comforted Victoria earlier, stay friendly or neutral and do not select “No need.”
The Episode 4 script says Victoria believes Max if Max comforted her in Episode 1 and did not select “No need.” It also says she will not believe the warning if Max mocked her earlier, or if Max comforted her but selected “No need.” The Episode 4 script records those branch conditions; the GameFAQs walkthrough also identifies the paint-incident response as the key setup and advises keeping the later exchange non-hostile.

Can Victoria be convinced if Max mocked her?
No. If Max made fun of Victoria during the Episode 1 paint incident, the Episode 4 warning will not persuade her, according to the script and walkthrough. Choosing the warning in Episode 4 alone cannot undo that earlier choice.
What happens if Victoria believes the warning?
Spoilers for a later story consequence: If Victoria believes Max, she seeks help from Jefferson and is captured. If Max does not warn her, or Victoria does not believe the warning, she does not take that same route.
