Where to prepare a meal
Monster Hunter Wilds lets you prepare meals at a base camp or in the field with the Portable BBQ Grill. PlayStation’s Starter’s Guide describes the portable grill as a way to cook “anywhere in the field.” These are two locations for cooking; the available information does not establish that one produces better meal effects.
At a base camp
Use the camp’s meal-preparation option when you are there. This is the stationary alternative to cooking while out on a hunt.
In the field
Use the in-game Portable BBQ Grill to prepare a meal without returning to camp. The grill is an item in Monster Hunter Wilds, not a recommendation for real-world equipment.

Choose a recommended or custom meal
Prima Games’ meal guide describes a Recommended Meal option and a Custom Meal option. Recommended Meal is the simpler choice; Custom Meal lets you select ingredients yourself.
Ingredient choice matters: meals can grant temporary stat boosts and passive skills, and ingredients affect those results. The sources do not provide a complete, current ingredient-by-ingredient effects list, so check the choices and displayed effects in the game rather than relying on an unverified recipe.
How grilling meat fits in
Grilling meat is distinct from choosing ingredients for a meal. The Portable BBQ Grill is the field cooking tool, but the sources available here do not establish the current button prompts, sequence, timing window, meat-specific result, or progression requirements for grilling. Follow the prompt shown by your game, and consult the official online manual for platform-specific guidance. Do not assume meal-preparation instructions also describe the meat-grilling sequence.
