You can copy a Clash of Clans layout by visiting a Clanmate’s village and using the in-game copy option, if your village meets the published level requirement. Then inspect the layout in the Layout Editor and select it for the mode you want to play; copying a layout does not automatically make it active everywhere.
Copy a Clanmate’s base layout
Supercell’s June 6, 2018 announcement describes the in-game method: “When you visit your Clan mates’ villages, you will be able to copy their layout.” The feature has separate minimum levels for the two village types:

- Home Village: Town Hall 4.
- Builder Base: Builder Hall 4.
Supercell’s announcement says you can copy a base one level above or below your own. These are the requirements published in 2018; if the current game shows different eligibility or controls, follow the in-game prompts.
- Visit a Clanmate’s village.
- Choose the copy-layout option if it is available.
- Open the resulting design in the Layout Editor to inspect it and save or select it as appropriate.
Inspect the copied layout before using it
A copied design may not suit your current village, unlocked buildings, or intended mode. Check its placement in the Layout Editor and make sure the arrangement works with the buildings and defenses you currently have. Supercell specifically advises checking that a War Base reflects your current defenses before a war.

Select the layout for the mode you want
Clash of Clans uses layouts in different contexts. A layout being copied or edited is not the same as selecting it for a particular mode.
Home Village and Builder Base
Use the relevant village layout slot and confirm the intended design is selected in the game. The published copy-feature thresholds are Town Hall 4 for Home Village and Builder Hall 4 for Builder Base.

War Base
Edit the War Base in the Layout Editor and verify its defenses are current. A Home Village arrangement should not be assumed to be the War Base arrangement.
Legend League I
Supercell says Legend League I uses a chosen layout. A change takes effect starting the next League Day, and that Legend League layout does not affect regular Battles. Choose and check the layout for the mode you intend to play rather than assuming one selection applies everywhere.

Can you copy a base from a link?
A 2026 third-party guide describes shared layout links opening into the Layout Editor, but the official materials cited here do not establish exact current import steps or guarantee that every link is compatible. If you try a link, use the in-game prompt and inspect the resulting design in the Layout Editor before selecting it.

Third-party layout libraries can be another place to browse for designs. ClashLayout’s FAQ says browsing, downloading, and copying are free; that is the site’s own claim, and its availability or features may change. Treat any external design as a starting point and verify it in-game for your village and intended mode.
