Use Roblox Studio to copy a Roblox map—called an experience in Roblox’s interface. For your own experience, choose File > Save As to keep a local backup, or File > Publish to Roblox As to upload a copy. For someone else’s experience, the documented workflow is available only when its details page says “This experience’s source can be copied.”
Copy your own Roblox experience
- Open Roblox Studio and sign in.
- Under My Experience, select the experience and click Edit.
- To save a copy on your computer, choose File > Save As.
- To upload a copy to Roblox, choose File > Publish to Roblox As. Select an existing experience to publish over it, or create a new one. These steps follow Roblox Support’s copying instructions.
Move a copy to another account
Save the experience with File > Save As, sign out of Studio, then sign in to the other account and publish the saved copy there, as described by Roblox Support.
Copy another creator’s experience as a template
- Open the experience’s details page and look for the notice “This experience’s source can be copied.” If it is absent, the documented copy workflow is not available; do not try to bypass the creator’s setting.
- If the notice is present, open the three-dot menu next to the experience title and choose Edit to open the experience in Studio.
- Choose File > Save As for a local copy, or File > Publish to Roblox As to upload a copy.
- Before publishing, ask the creator for permission. Roblox Support specifically advises getting permission before publishing a copied experience.
There is an additional eligibility restriction: paid-access experiences cannot be copied, even if copying had previously been allowed.
What permission to copy means
The copyable-source notice indicates that Roblox’s documented Studio workflow is available; it does not by itself grant unrestricted rights to republish another creator’s work. Roblox’s Terms of Use restrict copying or modifying another creator’s user-generated content without express written permission, except when the content is expressly made available for reuse, copying, or modification as a Creator Store asset. Follow the creator’s permissions and ask before publishing.

Creators can disallow others from directly copying everything they made. Roblox explains the effect of that control in its help page on disallowing copying; the page does not provide a current settings path, so consult the interface rather than relying on an unverified menu sequence.
Choose the right kind of copy
