With a local setup, the computer, power and internet connection must remain available for the stream to continue. If you prefer not to keep equipment running at home, StreamNeo can loop uploaded videos from the cloud to YouTube.
Before you build the playlist: check channel eligibility and music rights
Confirm that the channel can go live
YouTube says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days to enable live streaming. YouTube also requires streamers to be at least 16 years old. Check the channel’s status before planning a launch in YouTube’s live-streaming help.
Get permission for every track and visual
Buying or downloading a reggae track does not, by itself, grant permission to broadcast it in a live stream. Make sure your rights cover the intended music use, and clear any album art, photographs, animations or other visuals you include as well. YouTube for Artists advises creators planning to use copyright-protected music to coordinate with their label or distributor: YouTube for Artists.
YouTube scans all live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the video with a placeholder and warn you; if the matched content remains, it may temporarily interrupt or terminate the stream. A license does not guarantee uninterrupted streaming: YouTube says licensed third-party content may still trigger an interruption if the rights owner has not allowlisted the channel through Content ID. Read YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance and ask the rights owner about allowlisting where relevant.

Choose how to keep the stream running
Self-host with an encoder
YouTube identifies encoder-based streaming as an option for sending a prepared program with audio, visuals and overlays. In a self-hosted setup, the encoder runs on your computer, so the computer, its power supply and your internet connection all need to stay available. An outage or shutdown at home can stop the stream. YouTube’s general guidance is at Get started with live streaming.
OBS is one encoder YouTube lists as supporting HLS output. The exact way to make an audio playlist play continuously depends on the software and source you use; YouTube’s cited guidance does not specify a universal OBS playlist-automation procedure or a guaranteed automatic restart setup. Test your chosen playlist and recovery behavior before relying on a long-running broadcast.

Use a cloud service for uploaded videos
StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded videos in the cloud, so your computer does not need to remain on. See StreamNeo for product details. The service plays uploaded videos; it does not broadcast a live camera feed.
Set up a self-hosted encoder stream
- Prepare a rights-cleared program. Assemble the reggae tracks you are authorized to stream and choose visuals you have permission to use. Check that the playlist actually advances and repeats as intended in your selected playback or encoder software; the precise playlist controls vary by application.
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Create or schedule a live stream and choose encoder-based streaming. Follow the stream setup shown in YouTube Studio for the selected protocol. Keep the stream key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a broadcast to your channel.
- Connect the encoder. Enter the stream details YouTube provides in your encoder, select the audio playlist and visual output, then start the encoder. Confirm in Live Control Room that YouTube is receiving the stream before making it public.
- Check the complete path. Verify that the audio is audible, the visual is displaying correctly, and the playlist continues to the next track and loops as expected. Monitor the broadcast and test what happens if the encoder or connection stops; do not assume an automatic restart or uninterrupted operation without verifying it in your own setup.
- Keep the host available. For a locally hosted 24/7 stream, leave the computer running and prevent sleep or shutdown, while maintaining power and internet access. A computer is the relevant optional hardware for this approach, but the cited YouTube guidance does not establish a specific model or minimum specification.
HLS settings apply only if you choose HLS ingestion
YouTube supports more than one streaming protocol. HLS is not a set of universal settings for all encoder streams; use these details only when you select HLS in Live Control Room and connect with an HLS-capable encoder. YouTube’s HLS ingestion guide specifies:

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Use the HTTPS stream URL supplied by Live Control Room and an HLS-capable encoder.
- Send segments that are 1–4 seconds long in TS format, without byte ranges.
- Use a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments.
- Use HTTPS POST/PUT requests and do not add encryption beyond HTTPS.
- For stereo audio, YouTube recommends a 44.1 kHz sample rate and 128 Kbps bitrate.
YouTube notes that HLS has higher latency than RTMP. Its HLS ingestion developer documentation explains the media-playlist-and-segment delivery model in more technical detail; most creators using an encoder’s YouTube HLS preset do not need to implement that protocol themselves.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload your reggae video or playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The service loops the uploaded video from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Every slot streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; YouTube drop recovery is automatic. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. Rights clearance still matters: a cloud encoder does not remove YouTube’s copyright checks or allowlisting caveat.

- YouTube will not let the channel start streaming: verify the channel and check for live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days; also confirm the streamer meets YouTube’s age requirement.
- The stream is interrupted or replaced by a placeholder: YouTube may have detected third-party content. Review the rights for the matched material and contact the rights owner about channel allowlisting through Content ID. A license alone may not prevent the interruption.
- The stream stops when nobody is watching the computer: a self-hosted encoder depends on the host computer, power and internet remaining available. Check for sleep, shutdown or connection interruptions, and verify any restart behavior rather than assuming it is configured.
- HLS does not connect or behaves with more delay than expected: confirm HLS was selected in Live Control Room, use its HTTPS URL with an HLS-capable encoder, and check the HLS-specific segment and playlist requirements. YouTube says HLS latency is higher than RTMP.
- The playlist stops, skips or fails to repeat: verify the source and loop controls in the software that plays the playlist. The exact automation steps depend on that software and are not standardized by YouTube’s encoder guidance.
Costs and operational limits
A self-hosted approach requires a computer to remain available along with power and internet, but the available YouTube guidance does not establish a minimum computer specification or total operating cost. A computer is optional hardware for this workflow, not a guarantee of reliability. The cloud alternative avoids leaving a computer running at home, but does not grant music rights or override YouTube’s policies.
