You need a Riot Account to log in and play VALORANT. Create one through the official VALORANT page or during your first Riot game download. Have an email address you can access and your date of birth ready; signup details and available sign-in methods can vary by region.
Create your Riot Account
- Open the official VALORANT page. Choose the account-creation option on Riot’s VALORANT platform page. Riot also offers signup when you first download one of its games, as described in its Riot Account and social sign-in guidance.
- Choose how to sign in. You can create login credentials or, where offered, use a linked social sign-in such as Google, Facebook, or Apple. Options depend on region and platform. Use an account you personally control and intend to keep connected to VALORANT.
- Enter an email address and your date of birth. Riot requires an email and date of birth for signup. The email must be unique to that Riot Account, and you should be able to access it for account notices and possible verification. Enter accurate, complete account information, as required by Riot’s Terms of Service.
- Choose a login username and password. Make the password long and hard to guess, and keep it private. Riot’s guidance for parents of underage players says the login username cannot be changed later, so check it carefully and do not include personally identifying information.
- Complete any verification or approval prompts. The live form may vary. Follow the official page’s instructions rather than entering credentials on a third-party signup or account-generator site.
Know the difference between your login and Riot ID
Your login username is used to sign in. Your Riot ID and tagline are your public identity for friends and other players to find you in game; they are not the same as your login name. Riot explains where to view and manage account details in Managing Your Riot Account. Riot’s parent guidance says Riot IDs may be changed free every 90 days; check the account page for the current rule.
If the player is underage
Eligibility depends on the player’s region. Riot’s Terms require valid parent or guardian consent for users who are not adults or emancipated minors, while Riot’s underage-player guidance explains that parental approval does not override the region’s minimum age. Check the current requirements for your location before creating the account; there is no single minimum age that applies everywhere.

Protect the account and avoid a wrong-account problem
- Keep your password and other credentials secret, and maintain access to the registered email address.
- If you cannot sign in, use Riot’s official support and account-recovery resources for forgotten usernames or passwords.
- Check that you are signing into the intended Riot Account before playing or linking another sign-in. Riot says two accounts that have been used to play cannot be merged, so creating or linking the wrong account can leave progress split between accounts.
