You can try making a Roblox classic shirt from a phone, but Roblox documents a browser-based workflow—not a phone-specific process or a way to create shirts in the Roblox app. Use Roblox’s shirt template in an image editor, then upload the finished image through Creator Dashboard in a browser. If the editor, dashboard, or file picker does not work on your phone, you may need a desktop browser.
Choose the right kind of Roblox shirt
This guide covers a classic shirt: a 2D image mapped onto an avatar’s torso and arms. It is not a T-shirt, which is a square graphic on the front of the torso, or 3D layered clothing.

Make a classic shirt image
- Get Roblox’s classic shirt template. Download the shirt template from the Creator Hub classic clothing guide and open it in an image editor. The labeled panels show which parts of the image wrap onto the avatar.
- Design within the labeled panels. Keep the front, back, sides, and arm sections in their assigned areas. The template uses 128 × 128-pixel panels for large front and back areas, 64 × 128 for tall side panels, 128 × 64 for wide top and bottom panels, and 64 × 64 for small arm and leg top and bottom panels. Follow the downloaded template’s labels; seams and panel boundaries affect how the art appears when wrapped around the body.
- Export the finished image. Creator Hub directs creators to export as PNG or JPG for testing and upload. Roblox Support also lists GIF as an accepted upload format. For fewer compatibility variables, PNG or JPG follows the Creator Hub workflow. Creator Hub · Roblox Support
Preview the shirt before uploading
If you can use Roblox Studio, test the image on a block avatar first. Roblox recommends testing because template limits and seams can affect the result. This is a useful way to catch misplaced panels before paying the upload fee; Studio testing itself does not require that fee. Roblox Creator Hub
Upload through Creator Dashboard
- In a web browser, open Creator Dashboard.
- Go to Avatar Items > Classics.
- Choose the option to upload an item, select your exported image, and set the asset type to Shirt.
- Enter a name and description, then submit the item.
Roblox Creator Hub lists an upload fee of 80 Robux per classic clothing submission. Creator requirements also apply, and Roblox reviews items under its policies. What to expect when doing this on a phone
Roblox’s documented steps call for an image editor and a web browser; they do not confirm that every mobile browser, phone file picker, or the Roblox app supports the full process. You can try opening Creator Dashboard in your phone’s browser, but the interface may differ or the page may not offer the file you need. If you cannot edit or select the exported image, switch to a desktop browser rather than relying on an undocumented in-app button.

Fix common template and upload problems
- Template-size error: Check the final exported image dimensions against the downloaded template. Roblox Support notes that editing or saving can shift an image by a pixel or two, which can trigger a size error.
- Art appears on the wrong body section: Reopen the template and verify that each design element is in the correctly labeled panel. The shirt is assembled by mapping those panels onto the torso and arms.
- Shirt does not appear on an avatar: A correctly uploaded classic shirt may not display on every body. Roblox says many user-generated Marketplace avatars do not support classic 2D clothing.
- Upload controls or file selection are unavailable on mobile: The official instructions do not guarantee phone-browser compatibility. Try another browser or use a desktop browser for the documented Creator Dashboard workflow.
- Item cannot be submitted or sold: Check Roblox’s current creator requirements, Marketplace policy, and Community Standards. Roblox Support says creators may only sell work they made or have permission to sell; some requirements may involve account verification or linking a parent’s account, and some may cost Robux.
